Well, I suppose it wasn't that bad. I expected it to be funnier, but granted I did think it was hilarious when they watched that retarded movie and got all paranoid, that sort of thing happened to me all the time when I was little (recalls Child's Play, *shudders*). Still, I find Greg a very detestful character: he's lazy, selfish, and incredibly dim-witted for a boy in middleschool (unless I'm mistaken and have no idea what a boy his age is like..I mean, my brother's in middle school and is sma

If you would want to know how a life of a unfortanate teenager goes? Then read the Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days. It is about a kid who is in middle school and faces a lot of problems. He faces pretty much faces all the problems you could think of. The main character Greg Heffrey is stuck as a middle child and a social outcast. His younger brother Manny and his older brother Rodrick drive him absulutly nuts with their crazy ways of doing things. His best friend Rowlery Jefferson and own a lot o

You know what to expect from a Wimpy Kid Diary, don't you? This is just the second book of the series that I have read but already Greg Heffley is turning out to be one of the most interesting characters I have known in the literary world. What one loves about him is his mischief that hides behind his simplicity or the simplicity that hides behind his mischief, put it whichever way you like! Dog Days mainly talks about Greg's summer holidays... the things he wants to do versus the things he is m

This hilariously sharp comic book is written from the perspective of 11 year-old Greg, whose canny jokes and observations have become a series of popular books. Dog Days chronicles Greg's Summer holiday, which he wants to spend playing video games in his room, with the curtains shut and a cover over his head. Greg's mum, however, seems to think that Summer holidays should be spent doing 'useful things' such as running around outside, spending time with one's family and visiting the local pool.

2011 has been a year of very heavy literature for me. 1/3 through the way of Count of Monte Cristo, I decided to take a quick break with something "fun". I've heard a lot about these books, and with volumes 5 and 6 being the only ones at my library I (correctly) assumed that it is the kind of series one could pick up in the middle and not lose anything substantial.
The first night, I was laughing. Quite hard, actually. It just seemed full of wit and vinegar. Tonight, thou More...

This is a great series featuring the funny, irreverent antics of Greg Heffley and his dysfunctional family. In this installment, Greg is looking forward to a summer filled with sleep, video games and more sleep. His mother has other ideas. She makes him join a book club, go to the public pool, and attempts to set up a playdate for him with Fregley, the local weird kid. All her efforts backfire in typical hilarious Greg Heffley fashion. Other events in this book include a failed lawn mowing busin

This book if the fourth entry in the diary of a wimpy kid series. Greg is on summer vacation and he wants it to be the best summer ever. The begining of his summer was ok but it was starting to get ruff. he was sleeping all day his dad started to get mad because he was still in bed when he got home from work. So his dad started call to make sure he was up by noon. Then started to get worse when one day his mom said she had a suprise for the family. They were taking a car ride to a place for the

In the beginning of the summer Greg went to a theme park and was never old enough to go on the ride the zipper. His brother always said to be a man you had to go on that ride. Greg was finally old enough to go on the ride and his friend Raleigh was too scared to go on the ride with him. Greg went on the ride by himself and it made him dizzy. He told his friend that if he went to the beach he wouldn't be dizzy anymore. He felt that the Ocean is a toilet for fishes and sharks so he had never

It about Greg and it is during the summer Greg want to spend his summer playing video games but his family want to go on a vacation. This booked is called wimpy kid number 4. This book is mainly about Greg staying home a long time and without no light and lots of shade when it’s a good weather outside to go out and have fun. All the kids are having fun outside with the nice weather while Greg is the only one who stays home all day playing video games. Greg has this fantasy of staying home without no rules and no responsibilities to deal with; But Greg’s mom has a different way to spend the summer. Greg’s mom wants to do o

The adventures (and misadventures) of Greg Heffley continue! It’s summer break now, and Greg’s big plans are to stay inside as much as possible watching TV and playing videogames until the wee hours. Unfortunately, his parents have other ideas – like a summer reading club. Thank goodness it doesn’t last. Greg spends some time at Rowley’s parents’ country club – until he and Rowley rack up an enormous tab for smoothies (then Greg has to figure out how he’s going to pay Mr. Jefferson back – an

I know what you`probably thinking. What`s a 15-year-old doing reading a book for children? Well, I am not ashamed to admit that I am a big fan of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. Not only is the series for kids—could be enjoyed by teenagers and even adults. I really loved reading the last three books and this one did not disappoint.

If you've read through the first three full-length Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, then you probably know at least one thing about the series: Jeff Kinney has a keen sense of humor, and he is a funny, funny author.
Following directly after The Last Straw, this newest edition of Greg Heffley's cartoon-strip-like journal begins with the onset of summer vacation. A serendipitous anomaly at the end of the previous book barely saved Greg from a summer at military academy, and he has earned h More...

This book is the 4th edition of the diary of a wimpy kid. It talks about how greg in is normal life explains everyday moment he spends and reflects on it. Greg's dream is to stay home and play video games but his mom disaproves with that so she kicks him out of the house the whole day so he could go and play games. Greg didn't like that idea he was just thinking staying home playing video games with chips and the curtains closed.

Greg Heffley, who is now an expert in the middle school ways, is on summer vacation. While most kids are swimming at the public pool or riding their bikes, he’s in front of the television playing video games. Greg’s mom wants him to be more social, more active, and more … well, outgoing. With the cute lifeguard and trying to earn the responsibility of having a dog, maybe that wouldn’t be such a bad idea. But after the sufferings of walking through the men’s shower room at the pool and having a c

"For me, summer vacation is basically a three-month guilt trip.
Just because the weather's nice, everyone expects you to be outside all day "frollicking" or whatever. And if you don't spend every second outdoors, people think there's something wrong with you. But the truth is, I've always been more of an indoor person.
The way I like to spend my summer vacation is in front of the TV, playing video games with the curtains closed and the lights off."

I love this series! I have ocassionally picked up the books a time or two and read a little but this time I read it from beginning to nerd-tacious end. Jeff Kinney's portrayal of being stuck in the middle grades and on the outside of cool is hilairous. Reading Greg's thoughts on how to build a multi-million dollar lawn mowing business without doing any work and his question as to why his friend's dad is always irritated had me laughing out loud. We even get a chance to laugh at Greg's dad when h

In this installment, we learn all about what Greg does on his summer vacation: his mom's ill-conceived reading club, getting a dog named Sweetheart, a summer "romance" with Heather Hills, and an unsuccessful vacation with Rowley's family. As per usual, nothing earth-shattering happens - it's just the everyday life of an underachieving, video game loving, middle school nerd. We learn some new secrets about Greg, though - for example, his photo was once on the cover of the embarrassing

I think overall in this book Greg is not truthful. He writes everything in a diary and doesn't say anything, he always tricks his supposedly best friend in to doing things for him, and he lies to his parents. It seems to me he isn't a very loyal person.
Some people think they are so superior so they can just put other people down. And they are the greatest, and they use it to their advantage. By tricking the ones they love, lying to the people who are always there for them. And being manipu More...

Greg Heffley wants to spend his entire summer vacation watching TV and playing video games, but his mother thinks differently. She wants to have a family-togetherness vacation. Greg doesn't want to, but besides that he spends days on end with Rowley at a country club. So far everything is ok for Greg but when the large bill for all the smoothies he and Rowley drank and they had to pay for it. They try to pay off the debt by creating a lawn mowing company but it fails because of their poor qualit

This book continues the story of Greg Heffley. It is summer and Greg longs to be free of all responsibility, spending his days doing nothing more than playing video games and watching movies Greg's mother has a different plan - an activity-packed summer with plenty of family time. Greg's summer plans hit another snag when his family gets a dog. Greg also "enjoys" a trip to the beach with a friend's family.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days by Jeff Kinney is an interesting book about the summer of Greg Heffley. To him this was his most awful summer ever because he has moved out of his neighborhood where all his friends lived. So now his summer is really boring because all he does is stay inside and play games all summer because he doesn’t have any friends to play with. His mother thinks he can make friends and go outside instead of inside all day for his whole summer. His 17 year old brother Rodrick d

This is the very first time I'm writing a book about the series, and I thought it was just about time.
I admit, I've been a fan of the series ever since I read the first book and thought it was a good way to past time, plus it's funny in a kid's way. My brother was the one who introduced me to the books and having reading Young adult novels for so long, it was a refreshing change.

This is the fourth book in the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series. Like the first three, this was a fun book for kids transitioning from early-reader/light chapter books into novels. As with the Geronimo Stilton books, it is not in standard typeset font and looks like it could really be a copy of a kid's diary with lined pages and what looks like handwriting and sketches made by a middle-school-aged child.
This time, Greg's journaling starts at the beginning of the school year. We More...

An interesting quick read that middle grade kids will enjoy.
Mixing a chapter book with comics and drawings on every page makes this easy and enjoyable to read. My son has read all of these books and was thrilled when his book fair coincided with the release week of this book.
The rating above is based on readability and the fact that my son loved it.
Now on to my personal thoughts:
