Reprints Guardians of the Galaxy (2) #13-19 (June 2009-December 2009). The Guardians of the Galaxy find themselves caught in the middle of the war between the Shi'ar and the Kree. With the safety of the universe caught in the balance, the Guardians set out to try to meet with each side to broker peace. When the peace talks fail, a new threat arises in the form of Warlock's alter ego the Magus' return, and a time jumping adventure begins for Star-Lord and his crew that could mean the death of the...more

Collects GotG #13-19. Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning continue to put out some of the best cosmic stuff out of Marvel, finding a balance between the etherial and the personal (usually involving death and guns).

This series is part of the "War of Kings" event (Vulcan-led Shi'ar vs Inhuman-led Kree), with the Guardians stuck in the middle trying to stop both sides from further damaging the fabric of space-time. Unfortunately, it suffers for that setting, given the amount of action (including the Guard...more

This was just a trip down memory lane for me. I haven't read or even thought about The Guardians of the Galaxy in about 15 years. And this is just like going back in time with Adam warlock, Jack Flag, Moondragon, Vance Astro, Drax the Destroyer (who has apparently been reincarnated as a woman) and an all-new Quasar (I said I was waiting for him to show up, only this time, he too is a woman). Most of whom I haven't seen or thought about since The Infinity Gauntlet.

And here I am like a little kid...more

This book certainly isn't bad, but it's a bit of a disappointment in comparison to the earlier volumes of this title and the surprisingly compelling War of Kings story with which this ties in. For a few issues, the expanding cast of the book makes a logical split to address both the Shi'ar and Inhuman/Kree problems at once, then when they've killed enough time, they move into a time travel story with some interesting little quirks but something of an exhausted tone. The art is pretty inconsisten...more

So this is what I really want in a crossover book. The events are all tied up in War of Kings, but I can read them separately without being too confused. (In particular, the "peacekeeping" idea is a good one.) So this book has the same problems it always has--a few too many characters to follow, and some characters that you just can't really care about (Gammora, Adam Warlock). But the humorous moments totally make up for it, and it ends up being a lot of fun.

Having said that, I read it all but I...more

The ending was okay but this series hasn't really clicked for me. The problem, I think, is that the Guardians work when big things are happening to the universe, but you can't do that all the time in an on-going series. I've never felt like this series had a decent antagonist and throwing time/space worries through heavy-handed exposition isn't the answer to the problem. The cast is fun but it feels like the series is good as spinning it's wheels. Just because every issue starts with the team in...more

I've fallen into that comic book fan trap in which I'm keeping up with a series simply because I've taken it this far. Knowing that Guardians of the Galaxy was eventually cancelled is enough to make me see it through. But the series just seems lost at this point.

While I still enjoy the loveable losers that make up this team, this installment felt way too weighed down by having to be part of a company event (crossing over with other titles etc.). Here's hoping the next installment is an improvement.

While the humor still remained the art work really hurt the story that wasn't as good as the past few arcs. The ending did leave me with promise for the next arc.

For old-school fans of Marvel (I am talking 1975-1985 readers), this was a real treat, from Adam Warlock to Bug (of the Microverse/Micronauts) to Starlord.

Fantastic! Plenty in here for fans of both the new and old series. A well scripted multifaceted story with epic action and great whit.

Currently out of print. Ugh! Might have to suck it up and buy it off of Amazon.

Seriously, why are Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki in the Guardians movie? They'd make a perfect Star-Lord and Adam Warlock.

This book has so much of what I love - time travel, aliens, super-powered characters, personal confrontations with galactic consequences...

It's Doctor Who meets X-Men with a dash of Supernatural. Or something like that.
