I love the idea of a Shifter bounty hunter and the company he works for, Night Watch. From the first page I had a hard time putting it down. I like Cynthia Eden's easy writing style, and the flow of her characters' thoughts and voices.

Erin Jerome is the new ADA in Baton Rouge, LA. She moved from her previous assignment in Lillian because (small spoilers here) she has a stalker and she thought she'd lost him. She is "Other" but she is very adept at hiding her Otherness from everybody, both human...more

I really enjoyed this book. This is the first time read for me of Cynthia Edens books and won't be the last. Like her style of writing. This book was very fast paced that kept you interested. Erin hired a Bounty Hunter Jude who is a notorious bounty hunter who is a shape-shifter who turns into a deadly tiger who is hired to track and killer and who is also stalking Erin. The attraction between Erin and Jude is forming almost from the get go and is very intense.Erin although hesitant tries to fig...more

I went into this one pretty much expecting to like it since it seems a lot of other people did even though this is the first book I've read by Cynthia Eden so I couldn't know for sure. But I couldn't even finish it unfortunately.

Two main problems made me slug my way through it:

1. A lot of repetition about various things that made me roll my eyes over and over. In particular nearly every conversation between Erin and Jude are essentially about how he wants to know her secrets and she doesn't wan...more

I presume you know what the book is about. I'm letting you know what I liked or disliked about it.

I am blown away at the fact I didn't like this book. I've really enjoyed everything else I've read by Ms. Eden. I just assumed this series would be more of the same.

A few things I really didn't like - 1.) A reader won't know what the female lead is until almost a 3rd of the way through the book. 2.) Too much repetition of obvious aspects of the book. 3.) It felt like it could have been an excellent...more

Eternal Hunter by Cynthia Eden
Night Watch #1
Jude Donovan is part of the Night Watch team. He is a hunter, mostly of Other but for human's as well. Hunting for those against the law helps keep his beast happy. And it's quite a beast that Jude has inside of him, he is one of the rare white tiger shifters. After catching one of his human bounties, he gets a call that the man was murdered while in his cell and it's not pretty. Once Jude meets ADA Erin Jerome...his beast goes on a new hunt.

Erin has s...more

Just finished the first book in Cynthia Eden's Night Watch Series: Eternal Hunter. I really liked the male lead-Jude(white tiger shifter/bounty hunter), although his constant usage of the word "Sweetheart" became a bit annoying. I found the female lead-Erin(mystery shifter-we find out deep into the book what she actually is and Assistant District Attorney) was a weird combination of strong and weak. She didn't seem to find any of her strengths(physical or psychological) until near the end of the...more

It's stating the obvious, but I read and review a lot of books, commenting on strength of plot, technical aspects of writing, character development, world building, etc. I have to admit, I enjoy detailing why I like or dislike something. Occasionally, though, I come across a book that hits all or most of my happy spots, not because the plot is so spectacular, or the writing is so technically impressive, or the characters stand out that brightly, but for some nebulous, purely emoti...more

--This book in 6 words:

loved suspense and couple. missed humor.

--Why did I read this? And am I glad I did?

I’m taking Alita’s advice and doing a few mini-reviews to catch up :)

The fact that this isn’t on my TBR list, means that I probably did get it as a free download via Amazon. While it was worth reading and I liked it, but I felt like it was missing something. I personally like humor even in the darkest of my books. This story in particular felt like it was missing that lighter side. I l...more

I was pleasantly surprised by this book: as a freed download for my kindle I've had some really great new authors, and also quite a few that were immediately deleted.

Eden does a nice job introducing the reader to a new world and it's many inhabitants; I've never read any of her other books (don't even know if she has any) so if there were other novels pertaining to this world, I was unaware. However, I was quickly able to catch on and not feel bombarded with information.

I liked both the hero and...more

Eternal Hunger by Cynthia Eden
Paranormal Romance- Dec. 29th, 2009
4 1/2 stars

In Eternal Hunger Cynthia Eden returns to her super sexy shifters! I love her shifter romances and this book did not disappoint. It grabbed me from the first page and did not stop! Cynthia Eden's paranormal world is complex and absorbing. If you are already a fan of her books you will have to purchase this book to add to your collection. If you are a new reader, be prepared for a fun, smooth read.

My Summary:
Jude Donavan is a bounty hunter for Night Watch, a shifter who always catches his prey. When dragging a catch out of the Louisiana swamps Jude encounters the new Assistant DA, Erin Jerome. Jude can smell Other on her but what species of Other, that is an intriguing mystery that Jude is determined to solve.
Erin is starting fresh, trying to live a normal life as a human and staying away from Others, especially shifters. She thinks she has escaped her psychotic stalker who claims her as...more

Assistant DA Erin Jerome has a secret. Make that two. One: She’s not entirely human–she’s Other, desperately trying to keep her supernatural strength under wraps. Two: she’s got a killer stalking her–an Other rogue set on “gifting” her bloody corpses, not to mention nights lying awake in terror. Small wonder she’s been having bad luck with men.

Ok, this was yet ANOTHER book that I was happily surprised that I liked. I really went into it thinking, "Hopefully, it will at least be a quick read..." and I got so much more than that!

We meet Erin Jerome. She's an Assistant District Attorney and she's great at her job. But she has a few secrets and they're all about to catch up with her. First of all, she's not really human. She's part psychic human and part shifter. But she can't fully shift into her animal form. In the shifter world, that i...more

This was a good read! I mean, what's not to like about a HOT shifter?? And he's a good guy, even though he has 'darkness' inside of him....and Erin....sometimes she acts a little timid, but when she decides to kick some ass, you better watch out! I saw some reviews that were complaining about that, but I think if you get to the bottom of it - she has spent her entire life trying to be 'normal' and she doesn't want to let her 'beast' out and ruin that 'normal' life she has worked so hard to obtai...more

I am giving an 1 star for concept. The author had a nice idea for the standard paranormal romance that everyone else is looking for. For me, a one star is a book with NO redeeming qualities. But 25% in, I found myself looking to see how much was left to get to the end of the book. Overall, I found the story AND writing boring, redundant, and offensive on an intellectual level. After a few pages the book started to get boring, mainly because the author did not have anything to write. It looked to...more

So, let me just say this first - I don't typically like shifter books. This one was awesome. And here's one reason why:

"You're in my head every minute. I close my eyes, and I see you and I want you so much I can hardly breathe."

Doesn't that just make you want to hug someone? No one here at the moment, so I'll hug myself.

Our main character is having a crappy year. She's an assistant with the DA's office, and suddenly those around her are being attacked. Then one...more

Just goes to show that you can't tell a book by its cover. The best thing about the book is its cover and from there on it's a progressive downhill slide. The prose and the dialogue were awkward and lacked any charm, wit, or natural flow. The characters were poorly developed and weren't in the least attractive, charming, sympathetic, or engaging, so I couldn't care less if the bad guy murdered the whole lot of them right off the bat--in fact it would have been a big improvement because it would...more

The writing was interesting - the carnal scenes made me laugh - not the reaction the author was looking for probably but still, it was amusing. The 'revelation' at the end seemed like a cop-out. It wasn't that it was unexpected, it was that it seemed too neat. I don't think it worked. The characters were fine, just...not really memorable.

This is the first in Eden's Night Watch series which features vampires, weres/shifters, demons and other miscellaneous creatures. What a way to start off a new series! I thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced, action packed romance novel filled with lots of chemistry and hot sex.
Our sexy hero, Jude, is a shape shifting bounty hunter pulled into a new case that will change his life forever when he meets the new Assistant District Attorney who is not quite human (not sure what she is but is intrigued)...more

Wow, so much better than some of the other books I've been reading lately. It was actually well fleshed out and had characters that weren't two dimensional. Nice. I guessed who the bad guy was well before the reveal but then I kept second guessing myself and thinking, no, that can't be right. Therefore I'm giving the mystery a thumbs up.

The story: Erin has been hiding her true nature from the world for most of her life and for the last year she's been trying to hide herself away from a deranged...more

Another great read by Cynthia Eden. I have to say I really enjoy her mystery and suspense novels. This one was the same. Fast paced and action packed. Hard to put down.

These mystery and suspense novels have an added bonus that includes the Paranormal world that I also enjoy reading.

I loved the 2 main characters, Jude and Erin. Both have very strong personalities, but at the same time have a vulnerability that makes them more sensitive and passionate. Both have secrets that they want to keep in f...more

Made it all the way to chapter 6. Pretty damned awful and definitely not worth reading, however I have read worse. So far, the writing style is pissing me off. It's difficult to differentiate who's point of view the book is speaking in at certain points, because the POV keeps switching and the author doesn't always give enough hints. I also think I should know more about the main characters, other than they're sexy and apparently not human, plus other basic details, such as: Likes? Dislikes? Why...more

I’ll be honest, the Nigh Watch books sort of picked me; I didn’t pick them. I won the second Night Watch book in a raffle at a book club and figured I might as well get the first book. I’m so glad I made that decision!

The Setting — is a world in which things exist just below the surface. Normal humans don’t realize that surrounding them are Others, people who aren’t really people. They’re demons, charmers, shifters, vampires – and the list goes on. At times people don’t realize what’s right in f...more

I didn't like it quite as much as the Midnight-series, but overall, it was okay to read.
The writing was good as uasual, the story entertaining, but inspite of EH happening in the same universe than the Midnight-series (another town, though, no overlappings), somehow the main prots (and almost the whole other personnel) weren't quite as captivating as those of the Midnight-series-people (Niol!!!!!! :-D )
That being said, there are a few people in this book that might be developable (one more Dem...more

Surprisingly good. I got this one for free from Amazon, but have actually bought the next in the series.

Her covers had me thinking this would be really pulpy, but the plot was good. I don't love her style when it comes to the sex scenes. They are a little more graphic than some, which isn't a big deal, but also pretty repetitive after a while.

Her plot lines and action, however, were really good, and I enjoyed the collection of "Others" that she has created in her world. Main characters were wel...more

I've got to tell you when I started Eternal Hunter I couldn't put it down. I loved this book and kept reading it like it was a race to the end. I just had to find out what happened. I have to say that Eden kept the bad guy under wraps very well. Most of the time, I figure out right away who it is, but not this time. Erin's life is a mess even if those in her life don't know it. But what else could it be with a stalker following her from one town to another. And when you have a stalker what is a...more

This was just okay. I liked Jude, but hated Erin. Talk about irritating. Felt that half of the book was just filler. So repetitious too when it came to their relationship, the stalker, her secrets, his secrets. Give me a break. The biggest irritant of all was how Erin constantly referred to her stalker as "the bastard." "Let's get the bastard." "The bastard will pay." "I'm going to find the bastard." We get it! Enough with the word. Get out a dictionary and find a different synonym. Why two star...more

Excellent read - action paranormal. The latest intense trip into Eden's world of the Others is the start of a new series. Set in Baton Rouge, the heroine, Erin, is being tracked by a stalker who is Other. She hires Night Watch [a bounty hunter business specializing in Others whose abilities put them beyond the scope of human police:] to track down the stalker who has been killing and injuring those around her...

Enter Jude - a shifter who has police connections and is Night Watch's best hunter. N...more

This book was much better than the last couple of shifters stories I have read lately. The book doesn't really offer anything new to the world of shifters but, the characters are very well developed & I see a couple of future branches. This is the first book I have read that was written by this author but, I will be looking into some of her other series. I am also really interested in seeing some additional stories from the Night Watch team.

You won't wanted to miss this intriguing story abou...more
