Claire Danvers, sixteen and freshman in college, has it rough. For example, it starts out with her getting pushed, slapped, punched and pushed down a flight of stairs. Yea. Claire isn't exactly the luckiest girl around. Born with mediocre looks, and a freakish love for school, studying and yes, homework, Claire has always been a bit weird. But when she finally moves into The Glass House, along side Shane, Eve and Michael she so...more

The Morganville Vampires is one of those series that everyone has been obsessing over for years, so I was of course a bit wary to read Glass Houses. I didn’t want to be let down after all of the hype surrounding the series made me so excited to read it. But once I got that final push, I started Glass Houses and as each page was turned, I liked it more and more.

Review for Glass Houses
Well....at least this series doesn't have sparkling vampires or a dumb whiny heroine. Claire is sixteen-and a freshman in college. Which makes her freshmeat for the school's Queen Bee and Miss Popularity: Monica and her followers "the wannabees" a.k.a. the Monickettes, anyway. Claire is pushed down stairs, slapped, and hit by the girls. She's pretty much miserable and scared in her new campus life. I could symphasize with Claire (I've certainly never been pushed down the...more

I actually never heard of the MORGANVILLE VAMPIRES before, and I picked up this book because, honestly, I liked the cover. It was pretty and a little mysterious and dark and I knew it obviously had something to do with vampires.
I wasn't sure I was going to like it at first and I was glad when I had the first two books in one, because I really did like it. Claire is smart, Eve is funny, Shane is the tough guy, and Michael is basically the head of it all, and they all connect so well together, it...more

I was immediately attracted by this book. Somehow, I feel connected to the protagonist, Claire Danvers because of her geeky (and a little bit nerdy) style. I'd also like to compliment the cover - it's really eye-catching
Rachel is really good at delivering the story, because she makes me feel the anger, worries and fear of the characters in the story. The characters are well-developed and I can get an exact idea of their personalities. You will find out that you must keep on reading to unravel th...more

So, the only thing that bugged me about this was Eve, who i adored to begin with and then im not clear on if it was the end of the glass house or at the start of dead girls dance she really started to irritate me. I mean okay Eve, you're all head over heels for Michael but you go all bitch on him making comments that are even worse than hitting below the belt, nevermind the fact that its NOT HIS FAULT. Helloo psycho emo goth bitch. I'm hoping she got all that out of her system because if i see m...more
The Morganville Vampires is actually the first two novels of the series, Glass Houses and Dead Girls Dance, in one book.
Glass Houses
This story was a bit of a slow start for me, with the stereotypical pretty-girls-pick-on-smart-girl beginning. but it quickly picks up the pace, as our heroine, Claire, leaves the dorm to find a place to live off-campus to get away from the said snobs (who are more than just scary, they may be lethal). At the Glass House, she meets three odd 18-year-old characters....more

4 stars for Glass Houses and 4.5 stars for Dead Girls' Dance really loving this series so far.

RATING: 4 SHANE & MICHAEL STARS!!
I really liked the title of this book, in relation to the story, the first book in the kick vampire butt , series. It had a couple meanings, you will have to read the book to find out.

Ohhhh my gosh this book had me pulling out my hair. I don't bash books or authors because I don't have a talent for writing so I read.. But this book was really really really and I mean really lame. If your bored and you don't have anything better to read then pick up this book but if you have something better around you then don't. I got tired of Claire fast. All you hear is about how smart she is blah blah blah. The little kid was always in some kind of trouble or opening her mouth when she sh...more
The good points; It was a really easy fast read. I like when I can blow though a book in a few days, especially since this was two books in one. I liked the different view of vampires are evil and not romanticizing them. The bad points; It was a little predictable. The 16 year old gets beaten up by everyone, someone almost dies, and then they save the day. I know its fiction, but to have that much going on to one girl in such a short amount of time seemed to far fetched. Also the fact she is onl...more
I could not have been happier that I had the first two books in one. I might have gone mad if I had to wait to read book two. HORRIBLE CLIFFHANGER!

Even though I received this back in August for my birthday, I'm just starting it. Mainly because my whole attitude was "Uck. ANOTHER teen vampire book. I swear if I have to read another one of these loathesome, brainless, boring books, I'm going to ram a wooden stake in my eye."
What I said to the gift-giver was "Oh! WOW! Thank you! I've really been wanting to read this one!"
My momma didn't raise no rude girl.
For the most part, anyway.
(Please don't blame her for my momentary lapses. She did her...more

I had high expectations for this book and I was pleased with what I read. The concept of a college town that's secretly run by vampires was interesting and the political aspect was equally attention keeping.
The characters were interesting though I initially resented Claire, the main protagonist, for being the stereotypical short size 2 girl that seems to pop up in a lot of teen books but her brains and determination to save her friends helped me see beyond that. Shane the love interest was the p...more

So, I was totally srprised by how much I LOVED these books! I checked them out of my library warily because I've been so burned out on vampires after the recent craze in YA books. I didn't read these when they first came out, so I figured I would give them a shot. I am SO GLAD that I did! These books are really funny and smart, they have romance AND action both (LOTS of both!) so they could appeal to many different people. I was surprised how real the characters seemed to me. I like that Claire...more

Glass House and The Dead Girls’ Dance
I love this book; it is such a fun read. What would it be like to wake up one day and find out there is more Vampires then people in the town you live in.
I think it could be kinda cool.
Now I thought when I first read the title that it was going to be a house made out of glass.. Hey, that’s what I you get for thinking right.lol.
Any way Claire Danver has no idea what she has gotten her self into, and it’s not just the Vampires. She makes friends and she makes...more
Synopsis from the back cover for “Glass Houses”:
It’s a small college town filled with quirky characters. But when the sun goes down, the bad comes out. Because in Morganville, there is an evil that lurks in the darkest shadows– one that will spill out into the bright light of day.
Claire Danvers has had enough of her nightmarish dorm situation. The popular girls never let her forget just where she ranks on the school’s social scene: somewhere less than zero. And Claire really doesn’t have the r...more

Okay, okay, I realize I give a lot of the books I read five stars, but what can I say, I love every one of them. Maybe it's because I pick really great books or my friends recommend them to me. Either way, I give this one 5 stars as well.

I expected the residents in the Glass House to be vampires....uh.....NO.

Morganville vampires book 1 is my favorite vampire book now in the world and i want the entire series.I found myself on my tip toes not wanting to put this book down. There was everything I expected from the begging.Forbidden love, detrimental adventure and it was just straight out hilarious at times. Rachel Caine blew all vampire books out of the water with this series. Its an amazing twist to the vampire world.

The Morganville vampire series is a group of books that I have heard of very often. While at times my interest did gravitate towards the books from time to time, the story just never seemed to grab me enough to buy it. However, the omnibus edition collecting the first two books was on sale at Wallmart. I couldn't lose unless the book was really bad. Like Once Dead, Twice Shy bad. Thankfully that was the case.

I LOOOOOOVED this book!!! i generally like every book i read, and this was really good. i mean, its not the best book i've read, but it's way up their on my personal list.
It's basically about a girl named claire danvers, shes really smart so she's in college and she's sixteen. But one of the girls their is so mean she's basically threatening claires life. So she finds 3 18 year old roommates to live with in a big house. She soon realizes that she's living in a paranormal to...more

I finished the first half today...(since this book has the first two books combined). It started out a bit slow and rough. I had to make myself keep reading through the first couple of chapters as it took some time to get my bearings in the story, figure out the key characters, and the basic backdrop for the series. But I am glad I did! I am intrigued by the idea of a whole town basically run by vampires, the different factions of vampires, and how a human survives (or doesn't) in this small str...more
Great introduction to yet another vampire series. Brainy 16 year old prodigy deals with hazing at her new college only to discover that it is far worse than just not being a part of the "in" crowd. Moving out of the dorm and into a house gains her three unusual roommates but her life gets only more intense as she gets embroiled in the town and its eerie inhabitants. Just after she thinks that she has learned all of the pertinent secrets of her housemates, she meets the father of the guy that she...more
The best thing about this book (these books?) is that it deviates from all the common plot points that are becoming normal parts of so many YA books nowadays--there're no love triangles, a completely different take on vampires, and a dangerously mysterious town with a frightening hierarchy of species. Although Claire is a new type of protagonist, a bookish sixteen-year-old genius who's already a freshman in college, she definitely has pluck and a protective loyalty towards her friends and famil...more

I wanted to like this one. I really did. It seemed like it was made for me. Morganville? Morgan? You can't ignore the connection. But sadly I was disappointed.
The volume I read was an omnibus of the first two books. I wish I just would've bought the first one. I’m writing this review for the first book because I’ve read the first three books in a week. I just picked up the book at Walmart because I have a problem with buying books and due to the fact that I didn’t have a book in my purse at the moment, which I also have a problem with feeling like I need to have a book wherever I go. I have issues, I know!

This series so far is great you start off following the young 16 year old Claire who’s having anything but a fun time in Morganville. After being beaten up badly by Monica and her band of merry idiots. She winds up moving into the Glass House hoping to be free of Monica, and finding that far from the case.
