This is a great little ghost story. When Sarah buys her historic house and begins to renovate it, she finds out that there are bones in the walls. Along with that comes a ghost and the handsome new guy in town. She must find out more history on the house to try and figure out what happened in her house, and why there are girls in town disappearing. I really loved the history in this book. It was really interesting to read the memoir excerpts in the novel from the women of the past. It is a

I have read many books by this author and liked pretty much all of them, and it was nothing different with this one.
I love books about ghosts and supernatural, obviously that’s why most books that I read are paranormal. Anyways, I have gotten this book a while ago and it took me long time to actually pick it up and read it. I am not sure why, but few days ago I decided that it was time to read it.

As the PR in this book's front says, "There are good reasons for Graham's standing as a best-selling author". So true! Unhallowed Ground continues her tradition of romance, suspense, mystery & the paranormal.
Historian Sarah McKinley finally has purchased the tumbled-down Colonial mansion that she's always wanted to restore for a B&B. St. Augustine, Florida is a 400+ year old city with tourism much like New Orleans, and like New Orleans, she is aware of all the ghost stor More...

I was looking for a creepy murder mystery that would give me a bit of a scare and Unhallowed Ground wasn't too bad. It was creepy but it wasn't overly creepy. I did enjoy it though.
I liked the story line of Unhallowed Ground. I don't normally read adult murder mysteries and this one happened to have a supernatural twist which made it even more interesting. It definitely gave the creepy factor quite a few points.

Sarah has recently returned to her home town and purchased the home she has coveted since her youth. The historic home is in one of the oldest cities in Florida, and is ripe with ghost lore and history. Sarah finds herself in the middle of a ghost story and possibly the target of a serial killer. The walls of her beloved home are filled with dead bodies from ages past. Her nights are haunted by a historical ghost that just happens to look like the handsome detective Caleb Anderson (yum). Her

I liked Heather Graham's books back when she wrote historical romance and I was hardcore into reading romance novels, so when I saw this at the store, I bought it on a whim. And hey, I'm a fan of supernatural romance novels, so I figured what the hell. Must say I was very disappointed (except for the very cool creepiness of finding bones in the walls of her house). Way too much padding of dialogue and scenes, not nearly creepy enough, except for the bones, and ideas that were introduced and t

This barely constitutes horror, but with the addition of Harrison Investigations and a house full of skeletons... well, I thought it appropriate. I have really mixed feeling about this book; so much I liked, so much I didn't.

Unhallowed Ground takes place in Historic St Augustine which I use to live in when I was caring for my father . I still go there all the time and live only 30 mins away so I thought I would read this ghost story about it and found it to be a nice spooky book on the tame side . This story is about a woman named Sarah McKinley who is restoring one of the older houses in St Aug . upon renovating she finds a lot of bodies hidden in her walls literally had the ghosts that come with them . if you like

A historical house in one of the oldest cities in America, St. Augustine. An attractive single woman, with training in history and forensics, who has loved the house since her childhood and has finally been able to buy it. Skeletons in the walls, never mind the closets! I was hoping for more realism than I found in Unhallowed Ground, which turns out to be a lightweight and predictable romance with a missing person mystery thrown into the mix. The heroine gets herself locked into her own cellar.

I love the setting of this book as well as the plot. Graham does a great job of balancing the supernatural with the criminal aspects of the book. I would have liked more supernatural but that's just my personal preference. However, the chemistry between the two main characters falls flat. It's not believable. The bad guy isn't believable either. There is no possible way you could have known _____ is the bad guy and I hate that. I don't mind red herrings in regards to bad guys. I actually prefer

Sarah McKinley has come home to St. Augustine where she has bought an old mansion she has always loved. Her plans are to restore it and turn it into a B&B. Caleb Anderson has been sent to St. Augustine by Adam Harrison to track down a young woman who has been missing for a year. When the contractors make a gruesome discovery in Sarah's house, she and Caleb are drawn together through a belief that the current missing persons and the house and its dark past are somehow connected.

Ok, I usually like Heather Graham, and this was no exception, but it wasn't up to her usual level. Normally I love the paranormal aspect of her mysteries, and the fact that she manages to write without needing vampires to make her paranormal, well paranormal. There are some really interesting side plots here that could have been far better developed, and of course a couple of steamy sex scenes.

I am a huge Heather Graham fan and I usually love her books, so I expected to love this one too. In the end I really enjoyed the story, but the abundance of editing mistakes almost ruined the experience for me.
Even though I only gave this book 3 stars, I really did enjoy this book. It has murder, mystery, history, paranormal, romance, everything that makes for an interesting read! The murder/mystery is the main focus of the book, but the other elements are intertwined and add a lot More...

This was one of those books that was extremely difficult for me to put down. It’s a story that had so many twists and turns and an ending that left me feeling like I got hit with a two by four. I thought I had the mystery figured out and then WHAM! I got hit upside the head with a surprising twist that had me refusing to put the book down until the story wrapped up into its wonderful conclusion.

I enjoyed this book. The story was intriguing and the setting was someplace I'd like to visit one day (minus the killings). It took a little while to keep all the characters straight and toward the end I had to stop reading to think for a minute who I was reading about.
There are just a few minor picky things I did not like about this book. This may contain spoilers so read further at your own risk. I got tired of hearing that the house was not evil, just the people and the evil they More...

Heather Graham has always been hit or miss with me. This one is great until the very end where the bad guy suddenly "comes out of the closet" rather abruptly. It almost seemed as if the characters weren't getting to the correct conclusion fast enough, so the author just throw the confession out there. This would have had a 5 star rating except for the ending.

A decent romance thriller that follows along the same vein as the Dead Room as it does involve the Harrison Investigators and there are supernatural elements to this story.
The flavor of the Old South, voodoo, black magic and the Civil War is infused in this light read. Caleb Anderson, an investigator of the Harrison Investigation service is sent down to St. Augustine to look for a missing kid and subsequently finds himself looking for another missing girl. He is more or less a corpse More...

Heather Graham has been one of my favorite authors for Historical Romantic tales for a long time. But she really doesn't write many of those anymore. Seems to be doing a lot a Modern- Romantic- Thrillers. But this one has a ton of historical element to it. Plus it takes place in St. Augustine Florida, a place I have visited and loved. Definitely a good story. lots of creepy elements to it, ghosts, voodoo, paranormal. The end was a complete surprise to me. I wasn't even close in my guess

I have read several of Graham's books and find them all the be pretty much the same story, with new characters and locations. While they are quick reads and can be entertaining, my biggest beef with her writing is the way she ends her books. Not giving anything away, I think that she strives too hard to make her reader never guess who done it that the endings don't really make sense. And worse, the reason the killer did it turns out to be pretty trivial.

I read this on a recommendation. I will not read another book by this author. The characters were well developed and the plot was interesting, but she's terrible at properly building suspense and then solving the mystery. Though the whole story revolved around a mystery, it was resolved in the last three pages. There was no falling action whatsoever. There were also so many grammar and punctuation errors that I'm guessing it was not edited at all.

I cannot, in all good consciousness, give this book a high rating. I have read others by this author and under this publisher, and liked what I read. With this book...sigh. I was intrigued by the premise. The prologue pulled me in. But then you couldn't go five pages without an editing error smacking you in the face and pulling you out of the story. The poor editing (or in this case, apparent lack thereof) that has, unfortunately, become synonymous with certain publishers these days is my bigges

Not knowing this was a series, I just read the last of a 7 book series. Great read and would never have know it connected with others had I not researched the author. Now have the first 6 box to enjoy. Interesting ghost story with the right mix of history and romance. I have a feeling that all her books run along the same line every time, but who cares, if you have fun reading the book then it's worth the time.

I liked the concept of this book, but it felt like the romance was not well planned or believable and there were no real seeds to who the killers were planted earlier in the book. It felt like their identities were totally pantsed in a "ooh wouldn't it be cool if it was these people?" without the necessary groundwork to make it truly believable. The Dead Room was much much better.

This book didn't get really good till around page 200 which is far too long but I was committed so I kept going. This story was very close to Ghost Walk right down to the characters and the group of tightly knit friends. I would recommend Ghost Walk over this one. I love supernatural stories and at least this one was interesting on that aspect.

Heather Graham, who also writes at Shannon Drake, is a very talented author. This book is no exception and is filled with plenty of paranormal mystery. Her settings are very believable since she has lived near or visited the locations she writes about. Graham has the ability to keep you guessing until the very end who the "bad guy" is.

This was a good book. The ending though wasn't as exciting as it could be. I listened to this in the car. I didn't care for the voices the narrator did. The book took place in the south, so the narrator gave the characters southern accents, which was fine, but I guess I didn't like the narrator's voice or the way she did male voices.

Wow -- I can't believe I read the whole thing. Writing was miserable. I think the author rushes through to get too much published and trades off the quality. Especially the dialogue writing was hard to read. Story was an OK halloween book. My foray into mass-market paperbacks to find something scary to read was a sad trip.

I thought it started out good and was good through the middle and almost to the end. I'm disappointed in the ending. I was thinking there would be a classic good versus evil battle but the book ended in three short paragraphs. It left me feeling like she was tired of writing and thought there its done. Even the parts afterward that would usually have the friends together wasn't there. I liked everything leading up to it but it failed at the ending.

This was a good book. I haven't read an adult fiction book in awhile and I missed it. This book waa about ghosts and unsolved murders from the 1800's and the present. Everything was connected somehow and the twist at end was good. I didn't have a clue as to who the murder(s) from the present were. A book worth reading!

This is my first Heather Graham book. I am a sucker for anything ghost related so I found it very entertaining. The only thing holding it back is she is apparently one of those authors who loves to throw in graphic sex scenes. I just skipped them but a book is so much better when you don't have to skip anything.
