My goodness! I loved this book so much. My friend had recommended it to me and I am so glad she did. I wasn't bored for a second. I almost cried and in the middle of class, I gasped real loud because it was so shocking and exciting. Just as my friend had recommended it for me, I would do the same and definatly recommend this book to almost anyone. It was adenturous, sad, scary, and just truly amazing! I know you would love it if you give it a chance!

this book is my favorite book of all times a girl named sunny was split from her sister starr when she was only 3 years old and as she was growing older she wanted her sister back she was determined she was going to find her sister no matter what it takes. she is in a foster care type thing and she hated it. she was planning to leave and go find her sister. one day she stareted to leave but her foster mother caught her. so she waited for a few days then she left while on her way to find her sist...more
I enjoyed Runaway Twin. It pulled me in from the beginning. The book starts with her plotting to runaway from her foster home after she unexpectedly finds a sum of money in the park.
The main character is an orphan whose parents died when she was young and she had to be placed in foster care when her cousin, who was kind of forced to look after her, abandons her.
She spends the next years of her life in and out of foster homes and dreams of reuniting with her twin sister and having a family agai...more

I didn't enjoy this book so much as to say that it is life changing. The reason I rate it three stars is because it isn't great yet it isn't terrible either.
The story is about an orphan named Sunny Skyland going on an adventure to find her long lost twin in Washington and the outcome of her findings. The reason I didn't really enjoy this book is because of the fact that the main character never seemed to be grateful for anything she had. Sunny Skyland has been bounced from foster home to foster home since an untimely accident killed her mother and grandmother when she was three. She has run away from several of the foster homes, homes with unscrupulous foster parents until she comes to live in Nebraska with Tina, a single woman who values what Sunny thinks and wants. Sunny appreciates what Tina offers her, but is distrustful of her intentions. Her only possession is a small suitcase with a toddler sized outfit, and a photo of he...more
"Runaway Twin" by Peg Kehret tells the story of an orphan girl who has been yearning all her life to meet her twin. Her mother and grandmother died in a car accident when they were only three years old, and her father had left them when they were even younger. The two girls were separated, each going different directions. The twin who tells her story is named Sunny, and her twin is named Starr. Sunny had a difficult childhood being passed from one foster home to another. She is now with Rita, wh...more
I was really disappointed with this book. There was a total disconnect between the time setting of the story and the story itself. Most of the actions of the characters were more in keeping with mid-20th century ways, but this was placed in current times. Let me explain:
1. No adult in right mind these days is going to come upon a teen traveling alone and not report it to child protective services. The bus driver, for goodness sake, would have called it in. The cab driver, would never have let he...more

13-year-old Sunny has lived in more than a half-dozen foster homes in her life. Orphaned at three when her mother and grandmother were killed in a car crash, she was separated from her twin sister, Starr, and has always wondered what happened to her. A chance discovery of a bag filled with $820 in cash gives her the means to run away from Nebraska to their old hometown in Washington State.

I found this book at a garage sale of my friend's neighborhood. It's one of my favorites to find cheap books at garage sales in America. I like reading children books in English, and I bought it only for 25 cents. I really think I did a good shopping.
The book was good for reading. The main character is a low teenager and an orphan. Her life before meeting her current foster mother was really miserable, and she escaped from her foster houses a lot. Only her sweet memory was to meet her twin siste...more

I like to look back sometimes and see them. It helps trigger the little details that stand out at the time that I am reading a book.
There were some things that I think were a bit unrealistic. For instance, when Sunny met up with Charley, the cab driver. I cannot see a grown adult, driving a young teen 4 hours, and then just dropping her off at a gas station. A couple of times, this happened through out her trip to find her sister, Starr.

"You feel bad for me? You're the kid nobody wants," is one of the quotes in Peg Kehret's "Runaway Twin". This is what someone tells Sunny, the main character. This was a great book! There are many great moments and lessons in this book, and Sunny learns alot when running off without telling Rita, after finding a bag with lots of money.

Read this right after the Joplin tornado, so I was really able to make a connection. A young girl sets out to find her twin sister whom she was seperated from at birth. While on the run, the young girls comes across many challenges only to find out that she may have made the wrong decision.

I love how Peg Kehret can take an ordinary situation and create a suspenseful story that I can’t put down in Runaway Twin.
Sunny Skyland has dreamed of finding her twin sister, Starr, ever since they were seperated at age three. When Sunny finds a bag stuffed with $820, she now has the means to find her long-lost sister. She has a picture of the two of them with an address written on the back for her only clue.

I gave Runaway Twin 4 stars because I thought it was an excellent adventure book. My two favorite parts of the book were when Sunny found a stray dog and when she was in the middle of nowhere when there was a tornado. I liked it when Sunny found the dog because the dog had to beg for food all the time and the owner of the food store never even gave him food. So that is why Sunny decided to keep him and name him Snickers. I thought Sunny was thinking of the dog and not herself because she would h...more
I`m always trying to get my 10 year old daughter to read books I enjoyed as a child (which always makes her groan) so when she asked me to read a book that she really enjoyed, I thought it would be a great way to bond with her. I read the book in one evening. I quickly knew how this book reined my not so eager reader of a daughter in. The main character finds a backpack with over $800 and after failing to locate the money she gets to keep it! Then there is the lost dog that the main character ta...more

Runaway Twin is an awesome book that I really enjoyed reading. In this beginning of this book, Sky talks about her life and all of the different foster homes she has lived in. Then one day a miracle happens. While Sky is on a walk, she finds a huge bag of money on the side of the road. At first she does not know what to do with it, but then she decides to put an article in the newspaper about the money she found. She figured if the person that lost the money knew what type of bag it was in and...more

I couldn't put this book down from the minute I picked it up! I love the intensity put into each and every chapter. The suspense kept me reading this book from cover to cover, along with the amazing story line. Since it was one of my summer reading books, I thought this book would be a total downer, but it was ANYTHING but! The plot was so interesting, and I have always had a curiosity about twins. Who would've known that twins could actually nothing alike and resent each other? The most heart t...more

Runaway Twin by Peg Kehret is a book about a girl who was separated from her twin when they were very little and tried to find her again. The protagonist, Sunny Skyland had been bounced from foster home to foster home for almost as long as she can remember. I really liked this book because the main character is really relatable, and it's...more
I enjoyed this story; it was well-written enough to get you caught up in the young girl's mind and to understand where she was coming from and why she did the things she did. I have to admit I kept expecting some bad person to take advantage of her, but that may just be my research on human trafficking coming through. I would want my pre-teen to read this as a family read--meaning we would discuss it afterward and I could use the opportunity to talk about trust and honesty in relationships.

Runaway Twin was recommended to me a few weeks back by a thirteen-year-old girl who said she loved it. The story is about a young girl Sunny whose mother and grandmother die in a car accident leaving her and her twin sister Starr orphans at three years old. They are separated and Sunny never forgets her twin. Sunny's quest to find Starr becomes her mission. On the journey she meets a cast of fascinating characters and circumstances, some helpful, some harmful. Ultimately Sunny learns several imp...more
This is a story about a girl who loses her mother and gets separated from her twin at the age of 3. She goes through a series of foster homes until she finds one that is working but her obsession to find her sister gets in the way. She goes on a journey across the country to find her. Some of the things that happen to her along the way seemed a little unrealistic. This is definitely a juvenile story, appropriate for 5th or 6th grade level. It felt like it was written by a 13 year old which I gue...more
