This book was not a "how-to" book on building relationships with students. Instead, it was a collection of stories from this Los Angeles County teacher of the year's interactions with his family and students because of the relationships he developed with them. What I take away from this book is Bowen's appreciation for every child's unique needs and capabilities. His passion can be felt in each of his stories.
