Princess Mia is back in the final installment in the PRINCESS DIARIES series. Mia is ending her senior year and life couldn't be more stressful! Where will Mia go to college? Is her boyfriend, J.P., the one? Will Michael ever return from Japan? And will Mia survive turning eighteen? What's a princess to do?

For the first time in what feels like an incredibly long while, I finished a book in less than a day. I stayed up until past 2 am reading this!
And really, Mia does not disappoint with her last. She could frustrate you, but in a way that's kind of amusing... And, I can't explain why, but I found myself crying at some points. Or at least getting teary-eyed. I could relate to some of her experiences.
The major reason why I'm giving this book a five is because, in all honesty, it's been a while since...more

During the release of almost every book in the series, I've been the same age as Mia, so I could almost always relate to what was going on. But this book in particular made me feel like I failed as a 17/18 year old. Looks like the whole "royal heir to the throne of Genovia" thing got to Mia's head - she might as well be Lana Weinberger. Could be that I am too old to read these now... but no longer is she the lovable nerd that drew me into the first 6 or so books. This series amused me during my...more

This is the last book in this series. I have all of them and have enjoyed them all very much. I will admit I'll kinda miss reading the further adventures of Princess Mia, but all good things have to come to an end eventually. I have other books that Meg Cabot has written and I do like them a lot, so I'll probably continue to buy them.
Great ending to a fun series and a fast read. I'm looking forward to reading "Ransom My Heart".
Day One: PD is my not-so-secret pleasure. I almost gave up a few volumes back (with all the 1/2 and 3/4 volumes) but then the series returned to its original trademark Mia. I'm excited to read this but sad it is the last.

SPOILER ALERT:
THERE ARE SPOILERS GALORE AHEAD:
(But if you don't want to know about the book, why are you reading reviews of it on Good Reads anyway?)
1)Mia graduates high school--finally after 10 books (!)
2)Michael comes back and Mia and he get back together
3)Mia finally sleeps with him--but Meg Cabot is crafty enough to disguise the scene as a page from the bodice ripper that Mia writes.
And of course, it's superfantabulous, the best sex ever. Yeah, right...

My review, in numbered format:
1. I still don't like Lilly very much.
2. Tina and Lana are awesome.
3. Mia is an idiot (although a lovable one).
4. Meg Cabot did not need 383 pages to tell this story.
5. Grandmere is hilarious.
6. Meg Cabot should have resisted the urges to include the pop culture references, for they will be sadly dated very soon.
7. The twist with Mia's dad at the end is priceless.
8. Michael is awesome, as is his final text message.

Thank god it's finally OVER. Now I can relieve myself of this infernal teenage book series.
As Mia's senior year draws to a close, Genovia's princess has a number of things on her mind, and a number of lies on her conscience: she needs to pick which college she's going to (she was accepted everywhere she applied, but told everyone she was rejected everywhere), find a publisher for her senior project (not the 400-page book on the history of olive exporting in Genovia as she's told everyone, but a lengthy historical romance novel), and find a way to be head-over-heels in love with JP, he...more
OK, this is a bit like one of those Oscars that a veteran actor gets for a movie that they actually had a small part in, because the committee is really giving it for their whole body of work. I did really like this book, but it's not my favorite. It's clear that Cabot is winding up all her plot threads, which leaves less time for some of the laugh-out-loud funny moments or over the top Grandmere schemes that are so great in the other books in the series.
And she doesn't exactly wind up *all* the...more

This was such a satisfying conclusion to our beloved Princess Mia series! It beautifully wrapped Mia's high school career, and was wonderful for those of who have been with the books since before they were movies! :) I remember the first time I found Princess Mia (in the very first princess diaries of course!) I was a freshman in high school too, she helped me to find more time to journal, and get my feelings out. I traveled steadily with her avaidly awaiting each book release through the second...more

“No one has ever died of embarrassment – never, not once in the whole history of time.
Of which I am living proof, having a grandmother like mine”
Mia Thermapolis
And that pretty much sums up Meg Cabot’s last and final instalment in the hugely popular Princess Diaries series.
PROS: Mia or should we say Princess Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo is at the tail-end of her senior year. She has mastered the reluctant art of being a princess of a small European Principality, Genovia. She...more

It was like this journey that I had taken off in 2006. And, in the meantime I had the chance of getting hold of each and every Princess Diaries book. The specialty of this book is that even though we know it's just a lighthearted romantic comedy , sometimes deep down inside we all want to go through such a story to keep away from the busy schedule of our day to day lives. This book was truly magical in that aspect that it was able to keep me happy and lost in a la la land (no not certainly of la...more
It's ridiculous that I still feel like I have to, but often when I read a lighter book I do feel like I have to defend that particular type of book. So that's what this beginning part is going to be; It's going to explain why I read light-hearted and just plain fun books and why I don't feel the need to be a literary snob about such books as this.
This series is kind of like Mia's book, they might not be the most well-written or world-changing or the most literary books in the world, but that d...more

This is the final installment of the Princess Diaries series. I picked it up despite not having read installments V-IX because even though ten books was probably a little more book than she needed, Mia Thermopolis is a great character and I wanted to see her happily ever after.
Thoughts:
- Love the spirited defense of romance novels Mia puts up. So meta, man. Who says lowbrow and pomo can't mix?

This book comforted me through high school. So, there's another girl out there who's really tall with bad hair, and sucks at algebra! I thought. Someone I can relate to!
Well, those were the only three things Mia and I had in common. As the series progressed, I found myself disgusted at this apparent 'feminist''s complete INABILITY to do ANYTHING on her own. Lily done right by her, yelling at her in Princess Mia. I agreed with everything she said. I was actually cheering out loud when Michael dum...more

Don't remember what prompted me to put this book on my list of books to rent from Book Swim. Having seen at least two of the Anne Hathaway/Julie Andrews movies based on the Mia Thermopolis character and enjoying both I suppose that had more to do with it than anything else. I hadn't recognized the fact that Mia is a character created by Meg Cabot, one of the most prolific young adult authors currently writing in this genre. In any case, this was a light, clean read. I have a taste for this type...more

CONTAINS SOME SPOLIERS YOU"VE BEEN ADVISE!
I knew from the start who Mia would end up with. All her friends were supportive but it got on my nervs alittle how they should listen to Mia's perspective and not just setting it out for her. Maybe that's why she has to continously *didnt know how to spell that* lie to her friends because sometimes they aren't very supportive of her besides Tina and Micheal who actually, truly cares about her.

I dropped PD after book six because of various reasons, the major one being the 'no time' issue. I used to be an avid (even rabid) PD fan before losing out of touch with a high-schooler with whom it was easy to relate to.
By the next time I even cared to pick up another PD, was when I turned eighteen. I have to admit, with all the hype about this being the last in the never ending series, I was slightly intrigued. And, okay, I remembered how fond I used to be of Mia and thought about closure.

Forever Princess (or Princess Forever?), by Meg Cabot. The Princess Diaries X. The nothing-special blue paperback with the Arial ugly page numbers (though compensated by the cute seriff-y body text and curvy readable dating).

Meg Cabot is bringing a close to the adventures of Princess Mia with this tenth and final volume in the Princess Diaries series. She has jumped the tale forward a bit to just before Mia's graduation from high school. As usual, she is confronted with no shortage of troubles.
