Jim Clark is a respected elder from the Mille Lacs reservation in Minnesota. Among his passions are the preservation and ongoing use of Ojibwemowin, and that's how author Louise Erdrich came to meet him and grow to treasure his friendship. It's Louise Erdrich's bookstore that published this text as a way to preserve the memories of a senior member of the Ojibwe community, and also to give Ojibwe language speakers a means to read and study that language in relation to their culture.
