This is a decent book. There's not a whole lot of new information here, but I really like some of the questions she poses, such as, "How does your child learn other things?" This made me think about how to match my expectations to my son's history of learning. When it comes to physical things, he takes a while, likes to observe a lot first, be cautious about it, and then he practices, practices, practices, and does it really well. I think this book encourages one to give thought to thi More...

There really isn't much in this book that is new or unique. I've read most of the ideas in this book elsewhere (other books or websites). The information is sound, though, and it's nice to have in one place.

Typical of Elizabeth Pantley, the tone of the book is knowledgeable without being condescending, and it's laid out nicely. It's a quick, uncomplicated read, and a good introduction to potty training. Not worth owning in my opinion, but a worthwhile check-out from the library.

The No-Cry Potty Training Solution: Gentle Ways to Help Your Child Say Good-Bye to Diapers is a gentle guide to help you transition your child from diapers to the toilet. It takes a gentle and relaxed approach to potty training that is based on waiting until your child is ready for potty training. If you are looking for either an elimination communication solution or an intensive 1-3 day potty training solution, this is not the book for you.

There are a total of 9 chapters in this bo More...

What to say...this is a book about potty training or should I say "potty learning." This was not an eye-opening read for me, but it did make me feel better about the process as a whole. Specifically, since I have grown up hearing how I just started to use the potty around 18 months, and my sister took to the potty fairly easily at about two years, I was starting to feel like a loser that my kids didn't seem to be "getting it." Some of this book talked about readiness (whic More...

This is an excellent book about toilet training. It's straight-forward, organized, concise, and full of ideas. It isn't gimmicky like a lot of the training books I've seen (Potty Train Your Child in Just One Day: Proven Secrets of the Potty Pro toilet training for instance). This is about the child's independence and not the parents' convenience, IMO. Pantley is right on that the two most important factors to training success are the teacher's positive attitude (1) and patience (2). My da More...

While I wasn't a huge fan of this author's previous book, The No-Cry Sleep Solution: Gentle Ways to Help Your Baby Sleep Through the Night, I decided to give Elizabeth Pantley another chance. While my older son still has the occasional accident with poop, I didn't expect this book to be much help, but I decided to give it a try anyways.

Reading through the book, I have to say, I was right. This book didn't give me any information that would help my older son with his accidents, at lea More...

Potty training is torture at the best of times. I was so happy to find a book that offered fun, creative and peaceful solutions for getting through this big transition. I loved that it helped me have realistic expectations for my son since its common for other people to criticize when they see an older toddler "STILL" in diapers. This book helped me to be kinder to myself as a Mom.

It has some good ideas to make potty-training seem more fun, BUT I thought it was annoying that she doesn't prescribe much to potty-training your kids before 2 yrs old. In that sense, it wasn't all that helpful to me. But if you're already in the midst of potty-training your toddler and you have run into problems, this book might be a good jumping off point.

I checked this out from the library because I like Elizabeth Pantley's sleep book (The No-Cry Sleep Solution for Toddlers and Preschoolers). As with the other one, I like her writing style. She shares her ideas in a helpful way without coming across like a know-it-all.

This book has a lot of good general ideas, but no specific plan. She encourages you to come up with your own potty-training plan and implement it with patience. She did discuss a few potty-training issues I hadn't c More...

So far, I like this potty book best of the ones I've read. It's practical and is how I imagined potty learning would be. I recommend it. I haven't tried it yet and will wait a little longer before having Kaisa try again but think this is the method for us.

Well formatted. Easy to read and get finer points

Along the same lines as mt thinking.

This book didn't really glean me a lot of new information, but it was encouraging in several ways. It helped me to remember to stay patient and on track, and gave me some insights into how to motivate my child. Now if only he'd go....

A fine introduction to this whole new world for us. My one objection is the author's assertion that the right time to start potty training is when the parent is ready and EXCITED about doing it. If that's the case we may never get there.

Good for parents who don't know jack about potty training. Redundant for parents who've been around the block (or potty chair) at least once already. Best tip: remain calm & your kid will not pee her pants in college.

There was no magic solution in this book! I really wanted one! But she did give some good pointers and make me think about potty training from my daughter's point of view. Some really good ideas too!

One thing I really liked about this book was how it clarified what ECing really is - it's not the same as potty training, it's basically training yourself to respond to the child's cues and avoid diapers.

This is a great book that really helped me to be patient with my son when he was learning to use the potty. It had many great ideas about potty training & I'll be referring back to it with each of my kids.

It's pretty much common sense stuff, which is good and bad. Good, because well there is no secret to potty training. Don't shame your kid, be consistent and patient, keep trying. Bad, because well I spent money on the book.

A great reminder of what you should and shouldn't do when potty training. We're going to attempt it again soon- here's hoping I learned something new and can apply it so that Serra will STAY potty trained this time!

Of all the books that I have read about potty training (and I have read a few!), this was the best. I would definitely recommend it to anyone preparing for potty training.

Didn't really help potty train my kid. Gave me some good pointers, but other parents' advice was really the key to my potty training success!

Encouraging, helpful. Best idea for us was to use pull-ups before going to briefs and to not worry about nighttime until daytime was established.

I was glad not to have found a strict potty training regiment in this book. I was just looking for basic ways to get started and appreciated this book for the ideas and flexibility it allows.

I thought this book had a lot of good ideas. It didn't come across as preachy. It was a bit repetitive but I can understand that since most people don't read these sorts of books from cover to cover. I would recommend this to anyone who is planning on potty training soon or has already started.

Nothing very exciting or different about this book. Full of tips, most of which I have read or heard before. Might be good a starting point when beginning potty training.

It had an interesting potty-readiness quiz that was really comprehensive, but it said Rachel was "ready" before she really was.

Just started this one...it's a breath of fresh air after the very unrealistic 'do it in a day' books & techniques out there. Let's just say that Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither is a potty-trained child!

Finished this awhile ago, but am still referring to it mentally. We've had way more success taking some of these ideas. Making a potty poster together with inspirational photos of her going through the process and then tracking the progress on a chart, rewarding for staying dry More...

Here, finally, is a book that has proper modern ideas about when and how to start helping your little one to learn to use the toilet. Good ideas on how to handle unwanted advice/criticism. Things to do if "training" stalls or you have "setbacks". How to motivate kids who aren't interested. How night time dryness and daytime dryness are separate issues due to the physiology of children. This book should be recommended reading for every person involved in the care and welfare o More...

My son is very visual so watching "Elmo Goes Potty" worked for him. However, this book has a lot of great suggestions.
