A killer was loose in Colorado, and evidence specialist Cassie Dumont was determined to prove her expertise to the skeptical local cops. So the arrival of FBI agent Seth Varitek, a man she'd clashed with before, didn't sit well with her competence, her ego...or her libido.

The last time they'd crossed paths, Seth saw just how close Cassie got to a violent

4 Stars! ~ Months have passed since the kidnapping case had been closed, but is it really over? There’s a murder with chilling similarities to the skeletal remains discovered with one of the previous kidnapped victims. FBI criminologist Seth Varitek had helped with the original task force when the BCCFD had been under attack. Now the Chief has called him back in, and he knows his local counterpart, Cassie Dumont, won’t welcome him. Though all the new investigators have had to work hard to fit in ...more

Recommends it for: Romance Readers
Cassie Dumont, evidence specialist for the Bear Claw Creek Crime Lab gets her own book in At Close Range. At Close Range brings back Special Agent Seth Varitek as well. We didn't get to see much of him in the first book besides Cassie complaining about him and one time I know for sure.

Cassie is the target this time with the second man of what Seth figures out is actually a three man crew. It picks up three months after Bradford Croft died. The Chief calls Seth, who is already on his way into to

Such a great addition!

Loved this one even more. Super quick read, page turning, heart thumping. Love rereading these books over and over again. Good cop story with some sexy romance thrown in! Beautifully written. Now to reread rapid fire!!!

It's an Intrigue

Cassie is the new girl on the force, a forensic specialist trying to prove herself. But every time she has a big case FbI agent Seth gets called in.. Now she is the target, and glad he has her back.

Not as engrossing as the first one but solid. This one felt shorter (though on my iPad its hard to gauge length). Less crime scene work and no real added benefit to the Fla side story. Did enjoy it though and will carry on the series!
