I like the theme of a "secret baby" and this one was after a one night stand. It is a usually a hit with me and I have to say even though this one had its eye roll moments with lots of holes, cheesy dialog, porno sex scenes, and cliche situations I actually liked it and read it in one sitting. The cover was creepy though!

I know some friends that like this book, but I was turned off by several things in it. Call me a prude, that's fine. I didn't like the hero at all--to me he came off as a user of women (even if they are consensual I don't like when the hero doesn't respect women and uses them for sex with no tender regard for them). For those who are squeamish about erotica, you might want to avoid this book. I bought it for the secret baby plotline (which is less common in IR) and it turned out to be very in yo ...more
As a lover of awesome Interracial/Multicultural Romance fiction, I am seriously picky about the books that I read. For over 1 year, I’d been tempted to read this book, but for some reason or another, something held me back from buying it. Fortunately, one of my fellow friends on GR was kind enough to loan this book to me.

For that act of generosity, I am most grateful, because after reading this book, I can definitely say that I would have had a problem with paying $4.99 + tax for it. Although E

"A Night to Remember", is not exactly what I would have selected for myself. This book was a gift from a friend and it's not what I usually read. She calls herself trying to broaden my This is the first novel I've read by Ms. Eve Vaughn, and I thought she did an amazing job with the character development, I found them to be quite memorable. I thoroughly enjoyed the lead characters Charlie and Jake the attraction and desire between them was very intense. The se

Okay I just finished this one. I was really surprised! It's like it turned into a completely different story during the 2nd half of this book and I was actually tearing up a few times. The HEA was awesome! Charlie got on my nerves alot, but I understood her motivation behind certain choices/mistakes that she made. Jake too. Their redeeming qualities was the simple fact that they loved each other and at the end of the day they chose to submit, commit, & love one another.

Now the first half of

Charlie Brown – Determine, gutsy, and getting to know the up’s and down’ of life. She is also caught in the middle of family and friends issues – toss a man into the mix and it is shear hell.

Jake – Stubborn, knows what he wants and not afraid to go after to it. A good friend to have at your side, but one who can also be the one to toss the first punch if it’s deserved.

Charlie Brown had been teased by her name for as long as she could remember and it was just her luck to fall in with Paul Brown when he had come in to get his taxes done. It was a whirl wind courtship and they were married a month later. On their one year anniversary, Paul failed to come home to a celebration dinner. He died saving an elderly woman in a fire and died a hero doing what he loved next to Charlie. Now, on their two year anniversary Charlie was getting drunk in a bar and staring at P ...more
I wish I could give books star ratings. This book could have been a 5 for me. As it is I’m rating in a 3.5 and mainly because Charlie aggravated me. Honestly, I don’t know why Jake continued to put up with her for as long as he did, especially after the things she did to him. She made bad decisions, most of which was due to her own selfish reasons (yep, she had her reasons but to those extremes? maybe it's just me). Charlie lost her husband and decided to get wasted on what would have been thei ...more

What a Lovely book to read. I couldn't put it down. Charlie is so in love with her husband Paul that when he dies on their second anniversary she finds herself in a bar getting drunk and totally depressed.
Jake is the Knight in Shining Armour. He makes sure Charlie has a bed to sleep in, since all the hotels all full. But when he wakes and hears her sobbing, well he can't resist to console her. One thing leads to another.

It was a good story. Very steamy. The man Jake turned out to be an emotional wreck due to Charlie's callous disregard for his feelings because she was afraid of being hurt. He knew what he wanted, she knew what she wanted, but was trying to protect her heart. There were some unresolved issues in the book that should, not could have played out. Maybe Ms. Vaughn was going to use the two best friends drama to make a second book. If not, she should have alluded to what happened between them since it ...more

I have read and enjoyed other books from this author but this one really didn't grab my attention. The story was over-the-top and I think there were too many characters involved, too many twists ans turns and the drama would just never end!!!Even the dialogue for some reason seems forced and unnatural at time.the main characters annoyed me and I really felt like their connection was superficial. The heroine just seemed to be weak, undecisive and all over the place while the hero was just a womanizer ...more
With Ms. Vaughn books, they're either a hit or miss for me. This one was definitely a miss as I couldn't, for the life of me, get into the story. I felt the hero was too much of a crying sucker when it came to the heroine; and the heroine was just spoiled and completely selfish all around. I can get behind flawed characters, I prefer them to 'perfection', but these two weren't to my liking in the least. With that being said...I wish Steve/Laura had a story, their hatred toward one another made m ...more
I really wanted to like this one better. I need a good IR fix but this one didn't cut it. There was too much drama. I didn't care for the characters...I couldn't believe they was in love especially the heroine who didn't come around until the end...oh the end, became hokey. I didn't like that. It was just blah!

I found this book well written, what I loved most about the characters (not just the love scene) were the vulnerability shown through great writing. I also loved that the obvious issues, race and status did not play a significant role in the delivery.

I love Eve Vaughn as a writer. This book is steamy. I just wish that we could have heroines in books that know what they want and are not afraid to get what they want.

I like to read stories that has a secret child involved. This could have been a really good story, but the vulgar language just took that away for me. I'm glad this was a borrowed ebook :)

I love this story so much I sat down and read it in less than a day. This is definitely a story I will read again and again.

Charlie Brown loses her husband on their one year anniversary and she is devastated. On what would have been their second anniversary, she decides she doesn't want to spend it with family and friends feeling sorry for her. Charlie ends up drowning her sorrows in a bar.

Jake sees Charlie and is instantly drawn to her. He picks up her bar tab, but when she doesn't come to his
I fell in love with this book a while ago and have read it multiple times. I still love it to this day, so I've decided to right a review for it.

First I must add a disclaimer:
"She had read articles about men and women intentionally infecting their unsuspecting partners with STDs. She didn't think Jake was that kind of person, but one could never tell." - Carlie

Why risk it? With a one night stand at that. Hell no.

Anyway, now that's out of the way, Charlie was an annoyingly stupid character. But

This is the second book I have read by this author. I absolutely loved this story and highly recommend it to those looking for a strong story and a wonderful romance read. Please be warned that this an adult romance, the dialogue and the sex are very real, earthy, raw and sizzling hot. Even though the intimacy was over the top I did not find it raunchy but more realistic in the things lovers say to one another in the heat of passion.

The heroine of this story is a woman named Charlie Brown. She i

4.5 stars! The beginning of the book was just so sad. Actually, to tell you the truth, the whole book had me in tears. At the start, Charlie had found a love so special and then had it taken away from her. Jake comes along and manages to give Charlie something that completely changed her and he was able to heal her wounds. From then on you could tell how much they were made for each other. I loved how they couldn’t resist each other. The sex scenes between them were so hot! (Be warned that this ...more

This was a one-sided (for about 10% of the book) insta-love story that never moved beyond Charlie and Jake boning every chance they could get while Charlie denied having feelings for Jake. The characters were one-dimensional, the plot simple and cliched. There were a lot of times I found myself giggling at the cheesy dialogue wondering what century this may have been written in, but other than that, this story didn't have much going for it. And I feel so bad saying that because I really wanted t ...more

If I could give this book less than 1 star... Charlie just made me angry. I couldn't even finish this book! As someone who didn't find out about her "real" father till she was 12, this book hits a sore spot for me. Charlie was being a selfish bitch. I could understand not telling Jake about the baby in the beginning, but to just decide that he doesn't deserve even that courtesy of the option of being a father, just pisses me off. I don't know if I'll ever be able to pick up another book by this ...more

NYT and USA Today Bestselling Author Eve Vaughn has enjoyed creating characters and making up stories from an early age. As a child she was always getting into mischief, so when she lost her television privileges (which was often), writing was her outlet. Her stories have gotten quite a bit spicier since then! Eve likes to read, bake, make crafts, travel, and spend time with her family. She lives ...more
