Love Finds a Home (Love Comes Softly #8)
by
Janette Oke
Book 8 of the bestselling Love Comes Softly series. Leaving her little prairie town, Belinda Davis never dreamed that the excitement of living in Boston would leave her restless and empty inside. Wealth, literature, travel, and romance touched her life with choices and decisions that brought dissatisfaction rather than joy. She discovered that only when God had first place...more

Delightful end to a wonderful eight-book series! The characterization of the main characters was greatly developed -- Belinda, Drew, Mrs. Stafford-Smyth, Windsor, and Thomas. The author did a wonderful job with Aunt Virgie's eastern dialect and endearing attitude. The author also depicted beautifully (1) the social stratum between eastern society and their household staff, and (2) the lifestyle differences that Belinda experienced between Boston and her prairie home surroundings. Books 7 and 8 w...more
I listened to this book as an audio book, so my perceptions may differ in that way.
Ah, finally finished the series. I love that sense of accomplishment, even with books. This book is Belina's story. She is still in Boston and attending to Mrs. Stafford-Smythe.
I found this book to be much more entertaining and interesting than some of the past books. Belinda has a good story to tell and what happens after Mrs. Stafford-Smythe's passing (come on, you knew that was going to happen) keeps you wanti...more

OOOOHHHHH its over! My journey through this amazing and inspiring 8 book series, ideal for anyone who loved Little House On The Prairie. I was hooked from the very first book. I love the Davis family and many modern families would do well to follow their faithful and loving approach to life and it's trials. These books are perfect for anyone to read to their family, and share together.
Did I say my journey is over? No way, I'll be back. These are books to treasure, to read and re-read.

Finished the series... my review on the first book pretty much sums them all up. The books are simple, uplifting, definitely Christian, and full of good characters with good morals. I actually think I enjoyed this last book the most. Again, the quality of the writing isn't superb, but the quality of the content is worth the read. Perfect for breezing through on a drive, vacation, or while enduring weeks of "morning" sickness! ;o)
It is humbling to read about life back in the time of original settlement, and feel like I have it hard! They were busy from sunup to down and happy. Free time was knitting socks and hats for the winters. I really got attached to the characters and wanted to know what happened to them throughout...The movies were such a disappointment since they didn't follow the books!
I really enjoyed this one, even if Belinda and Drew made me crazy wondering what was going to happen. I'm happy with the way the series ended, but sad that it is over. I'll admit, I didn't like the books at first and it was only with the encouragement of some of the younger girls at my church that I gave it a second chance and I am so glad that I did. Wonderful series.
Nice ending to the 'Love Comes Softly' series of eight books. Belinda is now well established as nurse/companion to a wealthy woman in Boston. She manages to visit her home town for a few weeks, and is then finds herself torn, undecided about where her future should lie.
Some parts are quite moving, and there's good character development in Belinda, as she discovers that she is no longer the naive young woman who left home. Towards the end of the book she must make an even more major decision, w...more

I absolutely loved this book! Woven throughout this whole book are attributes of selflessness. I wanted this book because I watched the Love Comes Softly movies and this was the last book of the series. I loved the movies, so therefore I believed I would love the books and I was right!

Book 8 in the Love Comes Softly series.
Once again this book focuses on Belinda Davis. She is still caring for and being a wonderful friend to Aunt Virgie. However, when the older woman decides to go on a vacation to stay with a friend in New York, Belinda decides to finally go home for a short visit. She quickly realizes that she doesn't quite fit in anymore and begins wondering exactly where she belongs. Once back in Boston, a series of events quickly make her grow up and take responsibility. This is a good conclusion to Belinda's story, but didn't feel like the grand conclusion to the Clark and Marty Davis family that I was hoping for. (For example, I love the way Anita Stansfield's book Gables of Legacy: Full Circle pulls the multi-book series of the Hamilton family together). Also, I was annoyed that Belinda and Drew could have easily solved their problem a whole lot sooner by communicating. However, it was a light, clean read and I enjoyed it in general.
Overall I really enjoyed this 8 book series of Love Comes Softly. I mostly liked the books that dealt with Clark and Marty but it was also interesting to delve into the lives of their offspring. Just a note- do not try to watch the Hallmark movies of the same name as you read the series. The movies are so very different from the books- people die in the movies that don't die in the books! I was extremely confused when I tried to read a book and then watch the corresponding movie. I thought I mis...more
The series ended nicely and I liked the series overall. It was nice to read a series of books about people of faith.
