This professor's final exam includes a spanking.

I bought this book because I was craving a "forbidden" relationship kind of story. After reading the blurb for DEAR SIR, I'M YOURS, I thought this would be the perfect remedy.
Overall, I ended up being disappointed with this read.
The conflict was not convincing enough for me. Perhaps it is because I am just not buying how traumatized Rae was after being spanked. She says she's worried because she thinks she can't say no to Conn, yet she runs off and marries an abusive asshole. The two were clearl...more

I think if there hadn't been all the unnecessary Lifetime movie of the week elements added it would have been a million times better, because then we could have watched Rae and Conn figuring each other out without all the unnecessary sidelines (Rae's ex-husband, who seemed like a vanilla guy then turned into crazy controlling stalker dude, the housekeeper's crazy controlling husband who gets killed because he's a diabetic and she made him brownies, the sexual predator mayor who somehow doesn't k...more
Again I am left wondering...what makes a book erotica? This particular story does involve the "kinky shit" by its own admission, however it is really just a romance. In fact, the sex that is included in this story is much more tame than some I have read in main stream romance. There are many authors I have now read in the erotica world who should be famous and making $$, but instead are lost in the erotica world. Though perhaps they are writing straight forward romance as well and are really mak...more
I REALLY TRIED to read this book but I am found things just too bothersome. THE TWO CHARACTERS NEVER HAD A RELATIONSHIP just flirting during the semester and she runs off after the spanking and fantasizes about him for FIVE years. Compared her husband at the time to him BASED ON WHAT?! Then they meet up and she confesses that she loved him all these years and HE DOES TOO!? They talk about too many demands, too many mistakes?!? THEY HAD ONE ENCOUNTER AND IT WASN'T EVEN SEX JUST THE SPANKING! It j...more
I could not bring myself to finish this book.
i read the letters as a (0.5) part of this book and i was sort of intrigued to see what would happen next.
Sorry for my french, but what a load of crap.
she runs out on the guy (dr.connagher) because he "goes to far" before shes ready (or so he says), and she runs on him because shes scared that she would never be able to say no to him because "she loves him".
so, she marries some abuse ass and she realizes that hes not for her after a few years. she ta...more

Okay...this was the kind of book which makes it a little hard for me to explain why I liked it.I read the other reviews and many found it to be lacking.Well to be honest, in retrospect the book was lacking. It lacked a solid foundation. The heroine Rae was, well to be put in simple words,a very confusing personality. She knew she loved Conn(no confusion about that) but then time and again tried to run and hide from him and then ended up hurting both of them. She was very scared most of the time but s...more
Oh boy, this book was not my cup of tea. Firstly, it was boring. I had to struggle to finish it. The quoting of poetry got a little tiresome by the end. The heroine’s hot and cold behavior became tiresome, too. One minute she’s pining for the professor and the next she’s running from him for silly reasons. Then they would tackle one of her fears and overcome it, she would promise not to run from him again and then the same exact thing (or a variation of that same exact thing) would scare her and...more
I bought this on the strength of an awesome excerpt in the back of another Samhain book and an awesome blurb. Burkhart has a great premise here: former student had a brief kinky encounter with her professor, reconnects several years later when both are (supposedly) more ready for a real relationship. She's also got a strong voice and great characterization, but where this read really came apart for me was heroine. It's been a long time since I encountered a heroine that I felt was simply too dam...more

Plot and sex could have been better. A lot of pondering her fears. I wasn’t emotionally drawn in enough.
STORY BRIEF:
College professor Conn and his student Rae have been drawn to each other all year but didn’t act on it until the last day of class. She visited him in his office, and he gave her an erotic spanking that turned her on. She was so frightened of her desire, that she ran from him, quit college, and married someone else. She was trying to forget about Conn. Five years later Miss Belle h...more

The cover caught my attention, the blurb picked my interest, and the writing made me a fan of this new-to-me-author. In a fantastically written story of learning about one's self, comes the emotions tied with growing up, and learning to finally understand who, and what, you are -- by submitting to your ultimate desires.
We've all been there. Made decisions early in our lives that impact our future. In the case of Rae Lynn, she made one that cost her her own identity and self-worth. At...more

Dear Sir, I’m Yours is about a young woman named Rae Jackson who flees college after her professor spanks her to the best orgasm of her life. Afraid of her wanton feelings for him and what he did to her, she leaves, only to return five years later to restore his grandmother’s house. 3 1/2 stars. This was a pretty enjoyable bit of erotica from an author new to me. In some ways, I really liked it, especially how sweet, patient and accepting Conn was with the rather high strung Rae. Though clearly a dominant in the bedroom, he was more in love with Rae than in any particular brand of sex or relationship. Is that a great, accepting guy or what? Also he would be a fun fellow to try stuff out with, LOL. So very high marks for the hero.

I really liked this book. So much so that I went and got the 2nd book and downloaded the short story on the Authors web site.
This book starts out with her writing a letter to her Professor about her feelings over his spanking her and why she is leaving. She is fully aware that he will not read it, but has to put her pain for leaving in words.
Each chapter begins with a letter Rae has written to Conn describing her life as it currently is, how conflicted she was about leaving him, her awful marria...more

Okay this book was not as high up in the BDSM atmosphere as I thought it was going to be. This story was a sweet lost love story with a little spanking and a little mild bondage.
We get the backstory to this couple a little bit at a time through love letters, well emails actually (which takes some of the romantic style out of it IMO), but at the beginning of the chapters we get a love letter. In these letters our heroine describes her life since running away from the teacher who gave her a fab o...more

I got this as a Goodreads free Giveaway and based on the description was excited to read it. I found myself initially sucked in by the sexual tension and anticipation of the story. For the most part I absolutely enjoyed this story. I'd consider it a bit of a mild or beginner's BDSM -- BDSM for those who aren't sure they're going to like it. For those of us who know we like it, it ended up being a little tame. I think if she had started off with a prologue or initial chapter showing the scene tha...more
This is the most vanilla "bdsm" I've ever read.
Him: I'm dominant.
Her: I'm scared I will change myself for you! So I will marry another guy!
Him: I'm dominant, but I will never ever do anything ever that ever pushes your boundaries. I think oral sex might be too much for you.
Her: I divorced the other guy (who by the way abused me), but I'm pretty sure you're just the same as him!

This book is a touching, sweet and fiery love story I would recommend to anyone looking for poinent romance. The characters that inhabit her world are sweet, strong and complex. From Miss Bell, the grandmother that would open a bed and breakfast to bring her grandson's lost love home decked from head to toe in bright pink, to Rea who has spend five years running from her life and her fears while taking care of her family, to Conn the sexy English professor in history and devoted lover whose pine...more
I want Conn! No, really, I want to bundle him up, take him home, and then unwrap him, layer by exquisite layer. *Then* he can be all dominant.
This is the second of Burkhart's stories I've read, and I prefer this one to HURT ME SO GOOD, which was more heavily influenced by sadomasochism. This one, on the other hand, focused more on the Dominant-submissive lifestyle. And it was hot.
The plot moved along well, until approximately 90% (according to my Kindle). Then it seemed to speed through the st...more

I'm not a quitter but I didn't finish this book. I couldn't. I was struggling till mid of the chapter 14 when I had to accept my defeat and wave my white flag: Dear Sir, (He picked it for me) I give up! I'm not a quitter but I'd rather risk 10 with a cane than continue with this torture. Sir, would You pick something else for me?
GANG BANG, IS IT POSSIBLE???
1) I didn’t like the writing style.

Overall it was o.k. and I liked it but not as much as I was anticipating. The characters were good but I found myself annoyed with the use of the word "darlin" so consistently - I don't know why but it just didn't seem to fit his image. I also thought there was way too much pandering to Rae's wants all the time..and everytime something happened he seemed to think it was his fault - I didn't like that. I also thought her whole ex and marriage didn't really match what we knew about her...maybe it...more
The story was real good, funny.
Rae ran away from her first love because she was afraid of her reaction to him, her submissive nature. Conn thought she ran away because she was afraid of him, of his dominant nature.
For five years they missed each other without knowing it, until Miss Belle tracked Rae down and brought her back to Conn. Conn was still afraid to loose her, Rae was still afraid of her reaction to him, but with a bet between Conn's grandmother and the ghost of his grandfather, and w...more

I really really enjoyed this! This was actually some top quality writing and excellent dialogue. Truly a 5 star read until very near the end where things very unfortunately went a little off track for me. This is a real shame because I was mostly loving it until then.
Firstly I must say that this was a really interesting premise; a budding teacher/pupil romance, where something occurs before the relationship gets off the ground causing the heroine to flee. 5 years later their paths cross again a...more

Rae Jackson has turned her back on the mistakes of her past and reinvented herself - and her father's construction company - as The Fix-it Lady, specialising in renovating the old historic homes of Missouri. She's excited about the new job coming up, working on an old plantation house that the owner, an old lady known as Miss Belle, plans to open as a Bed & Breakfast. The one thing that makes her nervous is that five years ago, Miss Belle's grandson, Conn, once bent her over her desk and spa...more
Oh wow…..I just loved this book. It’s an amazingly good story!
Rae was a student in Dr. Connagher’s English class. After flirting and tempting Dr. Connagher all semester, they both gave in to temptation and he bent her over his desk and spanked her. Rae really liked it. In fact she liked it too much and she ran away from him. Five years later, they meet again. The passion and temptation burns just as bright.

After a semester of Rae flirting innocently with her English professor, he ruthlessly dominates her without wooing, warning, or patience right on his desk ( where anyone could have walked in). Rae's had no experience with submission and is scared sh#tless. She doesn't understand why he would treat her that way, how intensely eager she was to do ANYTHING he wanted, and is shamed by her sexual response to it all. She's terrified that she'll lose herself to him, willingly becoming whoever he wants...more

I read DSIY for the first time last summer after reading a fabulous review by Pearl. I started with the free prequel Letters (you can find that one here) and I was hooked from the start. I wasn't really sure what to expect with this book. It was a group read, and I'm a little hesitant about BDSM because, like Rae, I'm afraid there's a level of humiliation to it. Which is totally not what Conn wanted. I loved Conn... he was so extremely patient with Rae, and he worshipped her. And sometimes Rae broke my heart with all of her second-guessing. The letters were absolutely heartbreaking. Oh, and Miss Belle (and Colonel Healy) were a hoot. A few laugh out loud moments for me, and over...more
