Travel with the scientists as they trek deep into the New Guinea wilderness to locate the elusive Matschie's tree kangaroo.
The photography featured in this book is nothing short of stunning. The full color photographs include both scenic pieces, which
capture the beauty of the remote and rugged surroundings, and also breathtaking close-ups of flaura and fauna. The pictures alone makes this bookworthy of purchase. But that is not all it has to offer. There is also the exci More...

This is the third collaboration between Montgomery and Bishop that Amber and I have read. We’re huge fans and this book was as great as we expected it to be.
One of the reasons we love these Scientist in the Field books is that they give a true picture of the work the biologists and their teams do. Amber loves animals of all kinds and her current ambition is to become a wildlife biologist, so this was perfect. Lisa Dabek is a woman who has overcome obstacles and is doing all she can t More...

Quest for the Tree Kangaroo is another great installment in the finely crafted Scientists in the Field Series.
The book begins by providing background information to readers, describing the lives and educations of the scientists who will embark on an expedition to study the rare tree kangaroos of New Guinea. The book further examines the native people of New Guinea who will serve as guides along the way and the history of conservation on the tropical island.

Did you know there are kangaroos that live in trees? I had no idea! Or if I did ever know, I didn't remember. But now I feel like I know all about them! With Sy Montgomery's amazing text and Nic Bishop's even more amazing photographs, I felt like I was right there with their team in the cloud forest of Papua New Guinea making all sorts of new discoveries. I was so interested in the story and the things I was learning, that I was sad when I got to the end of the book. Now I need to find a zoo th

I really like the nature photo books, and this one is really good.
The cover has a close up photo of the tree kangaroo that makes you want to get into the book. Passing through the end papers speckled green sets the scene for the journey of Lisa. The combination of up close photos of animals and flowers, scenic shots, and people made it feel like I was on the journey.

Non-fiction literature has come such a long way since I was a child! The photographs in this book are so stunning, you feel like you could reach out and touch some of the animals and plants shown. This book tells the story of a group of scientists, artists, and more who traveled through the jungles of Papua New Gyinea in search of this rare animal. The story drags a bit at first, but the pictures keep the reader going. A great book to keep in a classroom library as young as 3rd grade. Could

There's reason this title has won so many awards. The photography is stunning. Rather than offering some dry facts about the rare tree kangaroo, the author details the expedition of a group of conservationists to find and track the animal. We learn about it, but also what it takes to become a scientist who does this work, the village traditions and people of Papua New Guinea, and the difficult circumstances which make the work they do so difficult and amazing. The story exemplifies how teams

This book has the best of both worlds. You'll feel smart after reading it, since it's a nonfiction book about scientists and a rare animal. And it is full of super adorable pictures of the cuddly-looking tree kangaroos. The book itself is beautifully made, with large, full color photos and suggestions to find more information about tree kangaroos. A great way to get kids interested in science.

Amazingly gorgeous photos and very interesting story. You really feel for these Tree Kangaroos, which look more like fuzzy small bears with pouches, and want to help them too by the end of the book. It was like reading a National Geographic documentary (in a good way) and the author was very detailed in describing what went on during the expedition. Makes me really want to visit Papua New Guinea to see the beautiful Cloud Forest and all the interesting animals and plants that live there.

I love Sy Montgomery and Nic Bishop books. I even loved their tarantula book, in spite of the topic. But who couldn't love these tree kangaroos? Adorable subject, fantastic writing, and shout out for the great Michigan photographer!

Cool book about scientists who go to the cloud forest of Papua New Guinea to track rarely seen tree kangaroos. They name the kangaroos, follow their daily habits, etc. for many weeks to learn more about this species.

The tree kangaroo is a very rare animal that people know very little about. This book recounts how a team of scientists, trackers, a veterinarian and others attempted to find and learn more about these elusive animals. The book is written for elementary-aged students, but I was still hooked by the story. It makes me want to visit New Guinea, it seems like such an amazing place.

I really enjoyed this nonfiction notable book. The pictures of the cloud forests of new guinea are vibrant, as well as pictures of other animals that live there. The book also brings out conservation, of not just the forests in New Guinea, but other ways all of us can help. It is very well written for kids of all ages, but I also liked it because of my interest in animals.

I don't read non-fiction as much as I should but this one caught my attention and all of a sudden I was oohing and with each page. The tree kangaroos are seriously cute. Now excuse me, I need to go figure out how I can get myself on a scientific expedition to New Guinea.

Great kids science book about a rare animal with stunning up-close photography. I love Sy Montgomery's books for children and adults.

I'm growing to love all Nic Bishop's work, and accompanying the beautiful photos are Sy Montgomery's engaging and informative words. I learn so much reading non-fiction intended for children!
