I get completely geeked out over the Titanic. I love to read books about her and yes, I have watched the 1996 movie multiple times. Don't judge, please. I had not heard of author Robert Serling but meshing the Titanic with the supernatural? Sign me up.
To start, the cover does a wonderful job of conveying the story hiding inside. It will make you wonder. Throughout most of the book. And in a good way.

Your mom was probably right about a lot of things (your eyes did stick that way; those sticks and stones did break your bones), but she was wrong about this: you can judge a book by its cover.
At least this book.
Start with the cover art. You see the hull of a ship, underwater, encrusted with rust and barnacles. There is a wine bottle and glass nestled in the sand, alongside a half-buried life buoy. (You might ask yourself, why did the buoy sink? That’s your first mistake More...

Ehhh...this book was not quite as good as I hoped it would be. I loved the premise (Ballard was not really the first one to find the Titanic, there was a first expedition in 1975 and the book is split in two between this first expedition and one in 1995) but the pacing of the book was off. It was too slow-moving when it should be faster and too brief where more detail would have been nice. What was interesting as well was that this book was first published about 7 years before the blockbuster fi

If it has Titanic in the title, you know I have to get it and read it. This one has an interesting twist. It starts out in the 60s with an English man who is a renowned code breaker and Titanic enthusiast and he discovers that the Titanic was carrying an outrageously large cargo of gold bullion on board. He manages to get some folks together to dive down to locate and find the wreak and bring up as much of the bullion as possible. While they find the wreak, a bunch of weird things happen and eve

Wow. This book was just gobs of fun for me. I'm an oldschool Titanic geek and parts of this book had me smilin' wide like a fool. Some good haunting moments and pretty thrilling story combined with a acceptable ending makes this book something I'd enjoy reading again to pick up on details I missed. Fun and historical. Gotta love it!

Saved from a one-star rating by the glorious, unmitigated cheesiness. Serling tries a little too hard to impress the reader with his stock of Titanic factoids, but if you need to turn off your brain and wallow in fast-pace cheesy action, this is the book for you.

Ths was a little far-fetched but decent writing made it fun to read. Mr. Serling is an accomplished author and Rod's brother.
