This is romantic-suspense at its best. Christy Reece writes a gripping tale of a mother that not only lost her husband a year earlier, has her twin daughters kidnapped and sold to human traffickers, who manages to find love in the end.

Christy Reece does it again!!

I have really developed a love for her stories and characters. Christy Reece does it again!!

I have really developed a love for her stories and characters. I love the way she weaves her books together, I have gotten to know the LCR operatives a little bit at a time as I read each book, but I learned a lot about Cole Mathison over the three books leading up to this one. I was procrastinating reading this one, because I knew just how damaged he was, and was afraid of how much he would break my heart. Well, I finally gave in and picked this one up, and I’m so glad I did because it was everything I’ve come to expect from Reece, with her super sexy LCR operatives, and strong heroines, and flawless plotting and writing, it was amazing!!

This story takes us to a small town in South Carolina, where two little girls have been kidnapped . Their mother Keeley Fairchild has hired the LCR to help her find her daughters because the trail is cold, and there are no leads. A couple of operatives have already been working on the case along with an FBI agent, when Cole finds out about the situation. Cole feels obligated to this particular family because a while back he involuntarily killed Keeley’s husband. Keeley isn’t aware that Cole was the one who did this.

Keekey’s mother in law has come up in everyone’s mind as suspect number one as being behind the kidnapping of the two girls. Elizabeth Fairchild has never made any secret of her hatred for Keeley, and since she also seems to own the town, she’s able to influence the town as well. It appears that Elizabeth thrives on making Keeley’s life miserable. Keeley has gone through so much. Being the town outcast all her life due to her economic status, and then the death of her mother, who was everything to her. Then the death of her husband, and now the abduction of her twin girls, how much can one woman take?? Apparently someone is determined to see Keeley completely broken.

When Cole arrives on the scene, he certainly wasn’t expecting this olive skinned, dark haired exotic looking beauty Keeley Fairchild, or the way she unexpectedly makes him feel. After suffering the ultimate loss, and being captured and tortured , and pumped full of mind altering drugs for a year, Cole didn’t think he would ever be capable of feeling anything for anyone again. He thinks he’s so damaged that he has nothing to offer, and he couldn’t be farther from the truth. Cole is dedicated, loyal, compassionate, protective, giving, loving and OMG sexy as hell!! He never second guesses putting his life on the line for the people he cares about.

Christy Reece does an amazing job with her stories, with the plot, and suspense, and even the sexy scenes, I’m gonna tell you, that there’s a scene in this book that involved a mirror that made my toes curl, I could so vividly hear Cole’s rumbling husky voice in my head, and Cole was the only person that existed in my world at that moment. LOL!

I can’t give up any more without spoilers for other books or this one. Like I said, these books weave together so nicely, and I want you to enjoy this the same way I did. This is one series I recommend reading in order to enjoy it the way it’s meant to be. Just know this: If you love romantic suspense, Christy Reece does not disappoint!

Fifth in the Last Chance Rescue romantic suspense series revolving around the damaged psyches of the agents of LCR. The couple focus is on Cole Mathison and Keeley Fairchild in Fairview, South Carolina, the town founded by Stephen Fairchild's great-grandfather.

Hoo, boy. This one is full of strife, drama, and tension. Reece does an amazing job of keeping you guessing until the end...with a lot of surprises at the end.

Getting straight answers from the residents of heroine's small town proves to be difficult b/c the residents' fear heroine's powerful mother-in-law who's been open about her hostility towards heroine. Having a romance while dealing with the kidnapping has its own challenges, esp with Hero's untold secret about his involvement with heroine's husband.

This Reece book was not as good as [[ASIN:0345517784 No Chance]] & [[ASIN:0345517741 Last Chance (Last Chance Rescue Trilogy 2, Book 3)]]. The suspense was predictable & romance was awkward. I thought that starting a romance while frantically looking for your kidnapped 4-year-old twins seemed distasteful & took away from the sensuality of the romance. I understood the first sex scene b/c it was more of an escape from & release of major tension for heroine. But the other times where she kept on pursuing semi-reluctant Hero was disconcerting. I felt embarrassed for her.

Heroine often displayed poor social judgment & looked stupid b/c of it. She appeared strong & independent but she was actually emotionally weak & dependent on Hero & his rescue team. She was smart to choose the right people to help her find her kids but she needed their rescuing herself & she got it time & time again. I thought Hero's guilt over accidentally killing her husband while drugged & over her kids' being abducted was misplaced. He was over-responsible. His guilt & frequent rejection of heroine's advances seemed over the top. There was a lot about this book that was over the top. The romance was sappy & the main characters were either over-responsible or overly stupid.

Overall, it's not a bad book. But compared to other Reece books, this one didn't hold as well.

I liked this. I love Cole, he's hella-dreamy. Keeley was pretty good, especially since she did recognize her bad decisions ... unfortunately after she'd already acted on them.

My one complaint is that the solution to the crime was all happenstance. Really, LCR is pretty good at the extraction, but not so good at the investigation it seems. If it hadn't been for some incredible luck, the outcome wouldn't have been so rosy. I'd just like to see more effective investigation in future LCR stories.

This story about Cole has been a long time coming. Cole has been around for a couple of books now and has suffered more than most could ever imagine. I was ready to experience his story, and it was worth the wait. Knowing Cole from previous books allowed me to have a connection to the character before his story even began. Another great installment in the LCR series.

Second Chance revolves around Cole Mathison whom we got to know in one of the previous books. He had been held captive and brain washed by Rosemount. During his capture he lost control due to the drugs given him and unknowingly killed an innocent man. Since then he has kept a vigil outside the widow's house, Keeley Fairchild and her twin daughters. He has vowed that he will not let anything happen to them. Called away on another mission, the very things he vowed to protect are at risk. The twins have been kidnapped. He tells Noah McCall (head of LCR) that he wants the case - no two ways about it. He will get them back. After all he knows the loss of family as his wife and daughter were murdered after he gave some students (he was a teacher) failing grades which in turn got them kicked off their team. Their payback was to get back at Cole and not finding him at home, took their revenge out on his family.

Keeley lives for her twin daughters. They are the light of her life since the kidnap and consequent death of her ‘weird and estranged’ husband. Her life is thrown upside down and her heart practically ripped out when she is accosted by masked men on an outing to a park with her daughters. She remains strong and will do what needs to be done to find and get her daughters back.

However, during all of this, Cole doesn't count on falling in love with Keeley and she in turn falls for Cole. As always in life, some people, more than others, come with baggage and the turmoil of when this baggage needs to be unloaded is always a heavy decision to make and there is usually a high price to pay and consequences to face.

This story takes you through deceit and cover-ups plus a mother-in-law that absolutely hates your guts. Those that do hate a person that much, have always done something in their lives they refuse to account for and promptly take it out on somebody else. Be careful who you trust. Just because you've known someone for years makes them no less capable of great harm to you and yours. When you think you know someone extremely well - you find out that you never knew them at all.

This book was emotional for me as were all the others. I just could not fathom my child being taken from me, not even for an hour and to find out who could hate you so much to put you through this is mind boggling.

All the characters in the LCR series have had troublesome lives but despite them or because of them they do what's right and help save others. Loved this one too.(less)

Absolutely a spectacular and riveting read. I couldn't wait for Cole's story to be told and what a deliverance. You will not be able to set this book aside until finished guaranteed. The topic is every parents nightmare and Christy delivered this story making you feel every emotion because of the topic of this story and what parents fear most. Cole and Keeley's book had me nail nibbling from page one. Reading the previous couple of books is definitely a must if you want the background on Cole...and Keeley, really. Keeley doesn't know it for a long time, but they have a connection before they ever meet, which is fully disclosed in the book prior to Second Chance.

I love this whole series. I would highly recommend. This series is a mixture of rough type military men and women, but in the end love wins. The scenarios are believable and you find yourself pulling for the hero and heroine and sitting on the edge of you seat and turning the pages really fast to get to the next part of the story.

I'm obsessed with this series. Don't you hate when you skip a book? I somehow missed one. This is Cole's story, who I don't even understand how he's a functioning adult after what happened to him in book 3. This is yet another emotional story of child kidnapping, but I loved it anyway.

middle book of a trilogy. This was Cole & Keeley's story. Romantic suspense. Keeley's kids were kidnapped & Cole pledged to get them back. Unfortunately he had sort of been responsible for Keeley's husband's death. Kind of a convoluted story & some interesting characters.

I have to agree with everyone that wanted to see Cole get a happy ending!!! This was another one that I had a hard time putting down!! This book had more of a suspenseful but yet playful air to it that had me hooked the entire time!!! I love Cole and Keeley is a great female character; they are awesome together! I was also thrilled to get more of Jordan and Eden too!! I missed them and was SOO happy for them in this book!!!!!! (I had been wondering about them and was happy to see them again!)

I enjoyed this book a bit better then the first one in this series. It was finally good to hear Cole's story. you learn so much about him from the start of the LRC series and its about time that poor guy got his happy ending. I enjoy Christy Reece. SHe does a good job of introducing the characters so by the time there story comes up you already have a place for them in your mind and heart. looking forward to the last book in this series.

It was dull. The "find the children" was slow and plodding. They "magically" found the second. "Magically" solved the case. Our hero "magically" got over his issues....

It was just a stereotypical RS read, for those that like that kind of thing.
