Reading this one for a book discussion group we're having at the library. So far it's incredibly silly (unintentionally), but I'm curious to see what the actual teens think.
Now that I'm done, can I just say, I am definitely not in the target demographic for this book. And that's okay. I almost never read books for my actual demographic. Avery's best friend is his brother, that is until his brother is accidentily shot and killed. The life that Avery knew is over. His brother is dead, his parents are distraught, and he is sent to a new school.
Avery's grades start to slide as he obssesses over his brother's murder and what to do with the fact that he knows the name of the shooter. Will Avery be able to pull his life together or will the need for revenge consume him?

This is a good book for young readers. When Rashid is killed by another boy who intended to shoot at someone else it throws his whole family into turmoil. Especially affected is Rashid's younger brother Avery. The shooter is the son of one of the neighborhood crime lords so everyone is afraid to talk about what happened. The book describes how people finally learn to come to terms with this tragedy.
"Patterson Heights" will literally knock your socks off!! Its intense use of stylistic devices and use of imagery will have you turning from more!

This book is about a boy name Avery he have lived in Patterson Heights for all his live. Avery desided to change his life around.
not as good as the firsst i read from the tru novels but still pretty good
aw man this was so sad but they got better
I really enjoyed this book a lot.. I couldn't stop myself from reading. It is very intense but a life lesson as well. I wish it ended better but overall the book is really good.
