This is book two of the "Ghost-in-Law" mystery series. I would recommend reading the first story "The Trouble in Mudbug" prior to reading this one. It can be read as a stand alone, but it makes more sense with the full back story.
Sabine is the local psychic in the small town of Mudbug Louisiana. She and her best friend Maryse, grew up under the care of a family friend, Mildred. Sabine and Maryse both lost their parents at an early age. Sabine has tried for years and years to find any of her rela...more

This is one romantic mystery that really kept me guessing until the end. There were some many twists and reveals that you won't absolutely know the villain until the end. Surprises abound and the book makes for a fun and delightful romp through the bayou!

One thing I really liked was how spunky Sabine was. She was trained in marshal arts even if she isn't some kick-ass assassin or bodyguard. Love that! I also really liked Mildred as the mother figure and of course, the ghost Helena. The history o...more

Sabine LeVeche is a minor character from the first Mudbug books. She's the local town psychic but seems to tell a lot of people that she's a fake. However, she's recently started hearing, and sometimes seeing, the recently and not-so-dearly departed Helena Henry, the local ghost. This may be partly because Helena seems to be more visible to people who are about to die and Sabine has recently be diagnosed with cancer. She needs to find a blood relative who might be able to donate bone marrow.

Helena Henry, the ghostly mother in law from hell is still roaming Mudbug, anytime a person is able to see or hear her, deadly trouble soon follows. Sabine needs to find relatives quickly, after learning Helena's husband Harold is related to her but not a fit candidate for giving bone marrow her friend hires a private investigator t...more

More problems in Mudbug! Enjoyed this book even more than the first book in the series. This may be because I found Sabine a more interesting character than Maryse, or it may be that with most of the world building contained in the first book, Deleon was able to spend more time on character development and plot in this book. Nevertheless, this was an entertaining and fun read. Lots of twists and turns in the plot, an evil villain or two, a more loveable Helena, a protective hero, many humourous...more

the ghost of helen is still making mischief in mudbug. Sabine was a orphan and she had searched for her family at 18 with no luck. Now she might need bone marrow transplant to treat her cancer. So she hires P.I. to help her find her family. Beau is former FBI agent with family money so takes cases to help people he is attracted to sabine. Now Sabine can here Helen and eventually can even see her. Helen cant get enough food and keeps needing more air. which they tell helen shes dead so she doesnt...more

Another enjoyable and light read by Jana Deleon. This second book in the series picks up with Maryse's friend, Sabine, and her hunt for her family which seems to open a can of worms. PI. Beau was a nice treat throughout the book and Helena Henry is often around to offer her so called assistance. There were some laughs and the characters are endearing although 'kooky' at times. Not sure that I understand all the ins and outs at the end and there were a few unexpected surprises.

If you are after a...more

Book 2 in the Ghost-in-law series set in Mudbug, LA. In this story, Sabine, one of the friends of the main female in the first book gets her own story. She is in search of some family--any family--because she has just found out that she has cancer, and there is a chance that she is going to need a bone marrow transplant if the chemo and radiation don't work. Also, someone is trying to kill her, and she is suddenly seeing Helena Henry, the "ghost-in-law" of the series name. Definately interesting...more

A cozy which features Sabina who can see a ghost name Helena. Sabina tries to find family members as she was an only child and both her parents were killed in a car crash when she was young. Now she needs a bone marrow transplant. Her friend, a psychic, hires a detecive ex-FBI agent to find any family members Sabina might have. Helena a ghost who over eats and drinks too drives Sabina and her friend Maryse crazy but in the end she comes in handy. Fun and easy read. Looking forward to reading the...more

It was a fairly easy read. I had enjoyed the first book more, but the second one was fun as well. The ghost, Helena, was as crazy as ever - or crazier, rather. Although it's been a while since I had read the first book so my memory is not entirely reliable, I thought that Helena's personality had changed just a bit in this book.

While it's a ghost story/mystery/romance, I felt that the romance took a backseat to the mystery, which was fine by me but due to the limited on-screen time of hero and h...more

2nd in the Mudbug (Ghost-in-law) series.

4 1/2+ stars

Sabine LaVeche needs to find her biological family for medical reasons. When she hires Beau Villeneuve, she wasn't expecting him to be so downright H-O-T. He is concerned that she won't get the desired results in finding her family and finds himself trying to protect her--for more than just professional reasons.

When Sabines starts hearing Helena Henry, the deceased mother-in-law of her best friend, Maryse, she gets concerned that something real...more

The second book in the series and as good as the first. True like is developing again but this time it's between Sabine and Beau, a handsome P.I. Helena is up to her usual antics as well, but is helpful in some ways. Where Mildred fits in will shock you. Each of these books could be a stand alone of sorts, but I am enjoying them as a series. Can't wait for the next one in the series. I hope there are more coming out. They are easy and, if life allows, fast reads.

This is the second in a trio of books about a woman and her friends in Mudbug, LA. The books are delightfully enjoyable. They blend humor, romance, paranormal with mystery. Each is handled with a sure hand by the talented author.

I am eagerly looking forward to the final episode. If you like any of the above topics, buy these books.

OMG! I just finished this book. It is the second in the series. It was sooooo good! I was on pins and needles. I can't say much more than that for fear of giving anything away. The author mixed some romance, a funny ghost and a mystery together and created a really great book. I am off read to read the third in the series.............

I enjoyed Book 2 of this series just as much as the first. I especially like the fact that each book stands on its own, for the most part. Yes, read them in order to get the most understanding, but you wont go crazy if you dont. Funny, light mystery/romance. Entertaining series with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing.

Soft boiled, quirky, inept.... you know the genre and I eat them like potato chips. This one was fun and interesting. I cheered for the hero and her ghostly cohort and only wanted to slap her a few times. That's pretty good. I'll pick up others in the series as they become available.
Lori
A good summer read, fun and quick! Its part of a series, so you get to know the characters and the setting. Something I like, a lot. Each book focuses on a woman and her new found lovelife. These books are romantic mysteries, you need to be a fan of the genre. Its a fun departure from more serious subjects!
Diane ~Firefly~
I enjoyed this story and while I guessed some of the outcome, not even I could predict all the craziness. Helena is an interesting ghost who finds out she can eat without gaining an ounce in this installment. If you like wacky characters with a bit of mystery and romance, this book is for you.
Bette Jacobson
This is the second book in the ghost-in-law series and equally hilarious as the first.
If you can see the ghost of Helena Henry than you are in danger. So get ready for a funny, fast-paced romantic mystery. I know you will enjoy it as I did.
Jessica

Another great book. These characters are a riot and the mystery has twists that are unexpected for a change. I got the first book as a kindle free read. I liked it so much that I bought book two and will definitely read book three.
Daniela
I like this series a lot, it's light summer reading with just enough suspense and a side of ghost. Helena is a really funny character. You can't help but like the moon-pie eating, who dresses weirdly and yells at all who are alive and can see her. Can't wait for the last book.
Kirsten Lenius
This is Sabine's story for the most part, though she finds out things about her family that she wouldn't have guessed. I found this just as entertaining as the first book in the series. Now, on to the third and final one.
Mitukagome
The mystery was a little too convoluted for me, but I'm not a big mystery fan. I really was just looking for some lighthearted fluff, and this book is pretty good for that. It just happens to also be a mystery.
Kesha Mclean
A really really good read. Even better plot than the first book. The whole story had be gripped and eager to know what happens next. Im about to read the next one and really looking forward to what happens with Helena.
Nell
Enjoyable read with a fab mystery plot - all the classic elements of a good fun murder mystery. A few tiny medical anomalies but not enough to detract from the story. Looking forward to reading the final book.
Sarah
Not quite as much fun as the first book, and I imagine the third will have gone even further downhill. Still, the best part being Helena. Her antics and outfits make the book.

I have NO idea why.
Eyre
Humorous mystery that was a bit predictable; however, there were a couple of unexpected twistd. Helena is more amusing in this installment, and she's definitely much nicer in death than she was in life.
Joni
Second in the Jana DeLeon Mudbug series. An interesting mystery involving a ghost-in-law who can only be seen by those in danger. Jana is a delightful writing style which makes for an enjoyable read.
Allison
Despite being a part of the Ghost-in-Law series, this book can be read on it's own - I do recommend reading the first book - not just because it's good but because it gives background on a few of the characters.
I liked this book, the best part of it being the Ghost-in-Law Helena Henry - what a character. Now that I've finished the entire series - she is the glue that holds the series together because each of books revolves around her becoming a part of the lead character's life.

Jana DeLeon grew up among the bayous and small towns of southwest Louisiana. She's never actually found a dead body or seen a ghost, but she's still hoping. Jana started writing in 2001 and focuses on murderous plots set deep in the Louisiana bayous. By day, she writes very boring technical manuals for a software company in Dallas.
