Rubie's story and the Landry series is my all-time second favorite series behind the Dollanganger series. I love everything about Ruby. This series has so many twists and turns it made my head spin. The twin aspect made Ruby's story stand out from all others in my opinion. I adored Giselle. I know she was a b with an itch, but still she always kept things interesting. Beau was another reason I really enjoyed the Ruby series so much. He was an awesome love interest.

Seperti menonton sinetron.

Reading Virginia Andrews' books when I was 15, they were kind of exciting. Reading them at 25, they were not.

Flowers in the Attic and the subsequent series were some of my favourite books to read during my teen years, and after being given a pile of books from a friend recently which included the Landry series I was looking forward to starting them. Unfortunately I was sorely disappointed. The writing style is simplistic, the description is nothing more than a list of features and t More...

Ruby Laudry Dumas's life was based on nothing but lies after lies. She was raised by her Cajun grandmere who had special healing powers and lived across the swamp from her drunk grandpere. Life was ordinary for her and her grandpmere, weaving fabrics for travelers to earn money and Ruby's painting talent, which Grandmere predicted was going to take her far.

At fifteen, Ruby's life, the way she knew it, began to fall apart when Ruby fell in love with a boy, Paul, but to be discouraged More...

Rubys Grandmere dies, her Grandpere Jack wants to marry her off to some old man. So Ruby goes to find her father in New Orleans. She finds her father, her twin sister, and you could say her evil stepmother Daphene. Her twin gets her into all kinds of trouble. Add a little voodoo magic, Daphene trying to put her in an instituion, her twin being in an accident leaving her disabled. I am looking forward to reading book two to see where this story goes next.

I have always had a deep fascination with the deep America South. the V.C. Andrews books are great in that they are easy to read and give me a nice insight to that part of America.

Ruby kept me turning the pages to the end and satisfied my need to read something easy but highly entertaining. The book deals with age old family issues as well as those of the occult. A lovely balanced book to read.

this book is so nice. it's about a girl who's mother died from giving birth to her a nd her twin sister. her mothers grandmother was very poor and her grandfather was a alcholist so he used all his money on drinks. so her dad is rich so this story starts on her finding her father and twin sister.

I read this book like a few months ago & now I'm reading the last book in the series & I'll admit I'm such a sucker for VC Andrews books. But ahhh I just loved this book its such a twisted story when it comes to paul and ruby's birthmother. I just wished the ending was better :)

I had forgotten how much I liked her books. I think she had some issues with incest because it is reoccurring in her books. Still, I love the New Orleans voodoo magic and the pain/pleasure that always comes along with it.

Again, VC Andrews went where most writers never usually go. It makes her books that much more interesting. This one knocked my black pants off (metephorically). Lol. I make myself laugh.

Ruby was the first book I read by V.C. Andrews and also the best. It was beautifully tragic back when I was 15, but I'm not sure I'd feel the same way if I read it again.

I read this first book in the series when I was around 12ish. I remember it being very detailed, and pretty much very tragic. I always wanted to read the rest of the series.

I really liked this book. The beginning dragged just a little, but once it started going, it's probabaly my favorite VC Andrews book, (at the moment). I like the character of Ruby, and I hate to see such a nice character treated so badly. I'm hoping by the end of the series, she will prevail, and her sister will get whats coming to her, as well as her step-mother. One can only hope.

another great book by v.c Andrews. ruby a Cajun girl, brought up in the bayous has led a great life. she may not be the rich child on the block but her loving family sure does make her feel that way.the loving family i am talking about is ruby's grand mom and granddad. ruby want to become a painter but she also desires something else. she want to be w/ paul tate a rich kid. but like it gos a rich kid with a poor kid is not always accepted. when ruby's family dies she runs off to find her father More...

Well... VC Andrews really likes to make people crippled. This was actually a pretty good (meaning, normal) first book. I did like Ruby as a protagonist and I absolutely hated Giselle and Daphne. I also liked the change of setting (New Orleans) and the underlying theme of voodoo and magic stuff. There were also some aspects of the book that reminded me of Jinx by Meg Cabot but overall, I didn't mind. I can't wait to read Tarnished Gold which is a prequel to this book.

The story is very good. Albeit a bit repetive in it's wordplay. I felt like someone should have handed the author a thesaurus. The end wasn't quite as predictable as I expected. I'll definitely finish the series to see where this family's story takes me!
