I really enjoyed this quick, sexy little read. Sheriff Tom Hale and Mrs. Lily Anders were made for each other: he was a closeted Dom trying to control his kinky urges and she was a wicked sub bent on making him let his "inner beast" run free and spank her into orgasmic oblivion.

The sex scenes were all good and steamy hot, even though their kinkiness was slightly tamed - I mean, there was no "backdoor" loving, which I admit I had expected to find considering the premise of the story. Mind you, I'...more

***4 1/2 stars***

Hot, sexy little western story of a Sheriff who secretly longs for a bit more in the bedroom and an English widow who wants him to dominate her, so she shows him that it's okay to be a bit wicked.

The love scenes were hot but I wouldn't have minded a few more. The BDSM didn't go beyond spanking and tying up so it shouldn't push too many boundries if it isn't your thing.

Overall it was a hot sexy little western romantica that I recommend to people who enjoy these types of stories.

Kind of like "Secretary" in the Old West. Sheriff Hale is an honorable man, deeply ashamed of the desires for rough, dominant sex he thinks drove his wife away from him. Lily Anders, a widow recently arrived from England, recognizes him with some kind of sub-dar and seduces him by putting on a peep show in front of her bedroom windows. Once he gives in to temptation, the sheriff discovers to his amazement that they are perfectly matched in their needs.

Considering this is an erotic short story, w...more

Those wary of S&M can rest assured there's nothing extreme in this story. Lily is tied with rope, spanked, given sexy instructions, and performs a sexy peepshow in what has to be the most erotic scene I've ever read where the hero and heroine aren't even in the same room. Everything's clearly consensual, and while the characters perceive what they're doing to be more than a little naughty (which is to be expected, considering the historical setting), the sex is never presented as anything bu...more

I am so excited that I found this! Victoria Dahl writes this story as Holly Summers. Holly is Molly Jennings alter ego. Molly is the heroine of Talk Me Down. She is a closet erotica writer, and here we get a short novella of Holly's erotic work.

I felt a bit like to nosy neighbors of Tumble Creek having to run out and read about the hot scenes inside Molly's head. And I can't help but wonder if this is the cowboy story Molly was working on while we read T...more

There are plenty of mediocre novellas, especially now that the market for ebook shorts has exploded. Of course, there are also good novellas and a few great ones. But, rarest of all are novellas that should be required reading for any author looking to cross that line from good to great. Victoria Dahl’s The Wicked West should be required reading for any writer looking to write the perfect erotic short story or novella.

I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a short this much (which considering...more

This was a quick little read, and I liked it! If you have read Talk Me Down by Dahl, the main character Molly in that book writes erotic bestsellers under the name Holly Summers, and the book that spurs some of the dramatic tension in TMD is one that she wrote about her long-time ex and hottie Sheriff Ben Lawson. Well, this book is Dahl writing as Holly Summers, and I do believe it's supposed to be that book of Molly's from TMD. Which is a neat idea! And, since we now know Molly writes like Vict...more

Holy guacamole. Before I go any further, any further at all, allow me enlighten you on one fact. This book totally earns its Scandalous Books designation. 128 pages isn't a lot of room but the author fits in a whole lot of sex scenes. You've been warned.

Now then. The Wicked West has a familiar historical setting (the Old West) and features the developing relationship between the extremely dominant Sheriff Hale and Lily Anders, an extremely submissive widow. Both are coming out of previous relati...more

Oh my goodness, I absolutely loved this! I really enjoyed every naughty little second of it. This is seriously hot and sweet in equal measure - my favourite combination.

I felt a lot of sympathy for both characters struggling to find someone that could give them what they craved, especially Sheriff Hale who suffered a lot of shame and disgust at himself because of his needs. I loved it as Hale started to lose some of his cast iron control.

I also really love how Victoria Dahl has written this as H...more

Um this was wicked hot.

Okay, for an actual review. This book was gifted to me by a super sweet friend. I owe her a kiss on the mouth or something. This novella was extremely well done. Sheriff Hale is a good man who cares about the people of his small Western town. His sexually sadistic side drove his wife away and left to him to his hand and the kindness of whores within horse riding distance.

Enter the Widow Lily Anders. She a proper English woman who has a taste for punishment.

A wicked little novella from Victoria Dahl (writing here as Holly Summers...the heroine from her contemporary romance Talk Me Down).

After reading Talk Me Down, I knew I had to read this, and I'm glad I did. Brooding Wyoming Sheriff Hale & seemingly prim and proper English widow Lily make an interesting Dom/sub pair in this quick tale. Considering this was such a short novella, there wasn't much of an actual plot, but the love scenes were hot and the characters likable. I'm no...more

Oh my god this book made all 10 toes curl!!! This is perhaps the best erotic BDSM book I've read ever and I'm usually not a huge fan of BDSM. The way Dahl approaches BDSM in this Western is sexy, erotic, and thoughtful. For the most part when I've come across BDSM the sub always seems to be humiliated which is a major turn off the me. I can't gush enough about this book, I absolutely loved it and wish Dahl would write more in this genre. If you are not in BDSM (like I was) this is a great book t...more

This was my first story by Victoria Dahl (aka Holly Summers) and it wont be my last. A sweet BDSM (spanking and mild bondage) story between Hale (kind and caring but with a dark side that frightens him witless) and Lily (widow, English who shares his passion). This was a really nice story with all the elements of a full length story, written in a more compact style. I found myself pulled into and mesmerized by this touching story of two poeple who meet up by a twist of fate, share the same passi...more

What a steamy little novella! ^_^ This tale, written by Victoria Dahl "as Holly Summers," was actually referenced as part of the author's contemporary romance novel Talk Me Down. In that book, the heroine is an erotic novel writer whose latest book-in-progress is about a sweet and mild-mannered English widow who has taken a very particular interest in the town Sheriff; she recognizes his own secret (and denied) desire to dominate (...yes, as in D/s).

I quite enjoyed the "cat and mouse" type inter...more

Widow Lily Anders inherits her brother's house in Wyoming and leaves England to start a new life in America’s Wild West. Sexual desires she’s concealed after her husband's death return in full force when she recognizes the town's sheriff, Tom Hale, for the dominant partner he could be for her. They embark on an erotic secret relationship that develops into something profound and as explosive as the sexual fireworks they produce.

Lily is subservient but by no means weak. She is determined to make...more

If you have read the Tumble Creek series, especially the first book, Talk Me Down you will want to check this story out. It is the story that Holly writes about the sheriff in the book.

The story is a hot one about a couple with BDSM tendencies in the old west. I loved that it was the woman seducing the man, and what a job she did. It had me laughing at times.

I liked this book what there was of it. The bdsm was light and I liked that it took place in the late 1800's Wyoming.
The reason it deserves only 3 *'s in my opinion is because it was too, too short even for a short-story. The story just ended like the author couldn't think of what else to say so that was it The End. What a disappointing ending. This story could have been so much better. It had potential.

Short, smutty...I liked it.

Two people who like a somewhat different style of intimacy. SHE notices HIM first. He's afraid his secret will get out...he's the SHERIFF and people need to respect him.

She's a proper English woman in the Wild West...and she likes the occasional spanking. Lucky for her HE likes to give the occasional spanking.

A match made in heaven...or the old west...

It was fun.

This is a lovely short story, full of frisson. Just enough written to know about the two characters but then what do you need to know other than what they'd like to do with each other?

My only beef is the cost of the book on UK Kindle - over a fiver for 69 pages. It only took me half hour to read. I have informed Amazon of this.

This was an impulse buy when I saw it on two other peoples' favorite BDSM lists. I dug in and really enjoyed it. How does an experienced submissive get what she wants from an inexperienced Dom without topping from the bottom? Read and learn, people. Also - the wild west setting makes it extra taboo. Delicious.

3.5 stars. I was a short story but a good one. I found this author as part of the latest Lori Foster anthology and tried some of her other novels. I am hooked!! Couldn't help myself on getting this story because it had a cowboy in it. A little walk on the BDSM side!

Cute premise--this is the sexy romance novel one of Dahl's characters was writing in another book. The novella itself was enjoyable but not too memorable for me--I'm not crazy about Westerns, and I bought it mainly because I'd enjoyed other Victoria Dahl books.

This is a a good, short erotic tale set in the Old West, with some side action involving an outlaw.
HERO is a Leader, the town's sheriff, worried about losing respect if his constituency finds out his sexual tastes.
SCENES/CONTENT: few/erotic

Way too short! But otherwise, written well and easy to read. Nothing particularly memorable here though. I read it because it was mentioned so much in Talk Me Down

This was a hot, sexy little number. A bit of light BDSM (normally not my thing), but the characters were super likeable and it was done really well. Dahl has such a warm, funny, sexy voice. Loved this!! It was just the right length (about 65 pages).

If you have access to an e-book reader and would like to try more steamy books like E. L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey, check out The Wicked West by Victoria Dahl. It features a dominant male character and is a short, fun read.

Hot! Hot! Hot! I read this short book in two hours. It was quite wicked! Wow, I am still blushing. Thumbs up on this book if you need some spice!
