I’m a huge fan of Baldacci’s, but this is not his best. Perfectly readable, entertaining plot, well-developed characters – it’s definitely one of the better ones. It’s just missing that something special that made me love Split Second.

This was my first Baldacci novel and there were things that I liked and things that I disliked about it.
This is the story of "Mace" Perry, a cop convicted wrongly and sent to prison for 2 years. Her older sister, Beth Perry, is the Chief of Police in D.C. When Mace is released from prison she gets involved in the latest case being tackled by her sister.

You know, I feel a little silly reviewing this book when everyone else I'm following are reviewing all these high-brow, top 100 books to read. But, you know, I finally realized that if I were sitting at my Daddy's dining room table with my sister, talking about books, these would be the ones I'd be talking about. So here goes. Although this novel has elements of both a mystery and a thiller, there is no mystery to why I zipped through it in a day. Baldacci writes entertaining novels with fun characters, good sleuthing, a kick ass story and you just gallop through the story. I kind of liked this book. It was nice to read a Baldacci book with two smart, capable, physically tough female characters as the central protagonists. The Perry sisters were able to carry most of the story and I'm sure if this book sells well we'll see more of them in a new series. Note to David Baldacci: you are not George Pelecanos, nor could you ever come to his level, this book makes that painfully clear. I really like David Baldacci’s work, but I think his publisher must have been pushing him for a new novel, so Baldacci hired a ghost writer to write this. This book is just bad, really bad. The book was well read by Ron McLarty. There were some odd words and phrases that had dissonance to my ear. These were, I suspect a result of the differences between the written and spoken language, but it was not intrusive.
