The best book in the series by far. At times it took my breath away. I'm completely content with how the series ended. It put a smile on my face that I don't think is going to be gone very soon. OMG!!! Ahhhhhh! I can’t believe it! That was....it’s so...., I don’t think.....I just can’t..... *sigh*.
Let me start again....THAT. WAS. INCRDIBLE!

I should preface my review by stating that I only read this book because I was given a copy by a very good friend of mine. I read it because I wanted to know how it all ended and to be done with the series. I had no good expectations of this book because I was less than impressed with Blood Promises and despised Spirit Bound. People in love with this series should stop reading about now.

So here are my predictions for the Last Sacrifice.

First of all I think Tasha Ozera killed the queen. If you go back to Rhonda's reading it says that she has an enemy and implies that it is a woman and at the time Rose thinks its Tatiana so she just dismisses it but I think that it is really Tasha. She is smart and clever and I think she has a Victor complex and she thinks shes doing it to better the Moroi and dhampir society. Abe is clearly going to break Rose out of jail because he promised he...more So here are my predictions for the Last Sacrifice.

If you go back to Rhonda's reading it says that she has an enemy and implies that it is a woman and at the time Rose thinks its Tatiana so she just dismisses it but I think that it is really Tasha. She is smart and clever and I think she has a Victor complex and she thinks shes doing it to better the Moroi and dhampir society. Abe is clearly going to break Rose out of jail because he promised her she wouldn't go to trial, so he is obviously going too break her out before the trial even begins and she is going to go on a journey to find Lissa half sis/bro (which I agree could be Jill.) Clearly Dimitri still loves Rose and is just saying that "love fades. mine has." because he doesn't want to hurt her anymore then he has. But i think he is going to do everything in his power to protect her from the royal guard and he's going to admit that he still loves hers. I have a feeling that Rose is going to come threw and find Lissa's sibling so that she gets her seat on the Royal Court and I also think she could potentially be the next queen.

As for the "Last Sacrifice" title I think that it could be two possible options. Option one is that is is Rose's sacrifice because clearly she already has sacrificed so much and she is going to sacrifice her career has a guardian to be with Dimitri. This theory come from Blood Promise when Avery looked through Roses mind, maybe her spirit abilities allowed her to look too the future and she and Dimitri really will end up together. Which means Lissa and Christian will end up together and would live at Court. If this happens then I hope Adrian ends up with someone because I love him and I sort of want him to be with Rose but I'm torn. I think that he will end up saving someones life like Sydney and then she will be shadow-kissed and it will save him from the madness and they will fall in love. (she did admit that she thought he was attractive in Spirit Bound)

Okay so option two. The "Last Sacrifice" could be Dimitri's sacrifice. I feel that if he isn't able to get over the things he did as a Strogi then he is going to end up dying somehow by sacrificing himself to save Rose somehow. It is going to be some dramatic seen and he is going to tell Rose that he has always loved her and he would rather die so that she could be happy. If this happens then I think Rose and Adrian will end up getting married and having children and they will live at court and Lissa and Christian will be there too. I also think that its possible that Eddie and Mia will hook up and maybe the spin-off series will follow them also with Sydney and Lissa's half bro/sis. (less)

Ok - Finished the book it was nice read for the series end but it was too much of a perfect ending. Don't get me wrong I am happy for Rose and Dimitri but did they have to remain guardians. I wanted them to choose themselves over duty and go start their life fighting injustice on their on term. The ending was too perfect not saying someone should have died but not every story has to have a perfect ending. I'm psychic. Yes ladies and gents, you heard me right. It's true. I predicted everything. I quote myself; "I think that (view spoiler) killed the queen. She's just a little too suspect... K well I hav finished spirit bound and I am dying to read this one!!!!!! I do think Jill is the Dragonir sister. As for the queen's murderer... I don't think it was Victor. It's too obvious. A dhampir could have done it, like Ambrose, or a moroi with skills in physical combat, like Tasha. Then again, Tatiana never would have seen it coming so all you need to do it have the strength to stake her. The question is why though. Why kill Tatiana? Revenge? It could put Lissa in line to be the queen, but then the person had to be in favor of Lissa and was trying to find her sibling. Rose dying would make Lissa vulnerable and easy to manipulate. There are so many possibilities.... I just hope it ends well.
I just thought of something. Do you think Mikalli (i cant spell his name) will ever find Sonya aka Ms Karp? I think so. I also think Rose will go back to the Academy for Jill. It wouldnt be called Vampire Academy if Rose spent the last book away from it. Also im glad this says its not the final cover. Rose is going to narrate the last book right? Honestly Rose has to end up with Dimitri.

My predictions were right. tasha did it. jill was the sister. they find sonya. rose gets back together with dimitri. Im not sure how i feel about lissa becoming queen. it seems like rose just becomes less important to me. but I HATED THE ENDING!!!!!! she lost the bond!!! in the real world that just doesnt happen. people's problem dont just magically go away like that. Well, I have to say that I think everything that happened in this book was bittersweet yet inevitable. This book opened up more possibilities than any other book in the Vampire Academy series thus far had -- and, though this book brought an end to Rose's first-account tale, the story is far, far from over. As a fan, I really can't wait to see where the characters will go from here, how they will grow, what struggles they will have in the uncertain future. Unlike other endings to series, this wasn't an "end-all" book -- and, while that was disappointing to me, I can't say it wasn't expected. There were too many loose ends to tie, too many fates to determine, too many answers to give in the pages allotted.

Richelle Mead says in her Acknowledgements page that she "[hopes] you'll continue to enjoy the many Moroi and dhampir adventures to come." I feel a little dismayed by that since that makes it sound as though the books will continue endlessly. I already know Mead has a six-book series ahead of her still -- but could more follow? Personally, I'd rather have an ending where I could ponder the characters' futures for myself than follow them for the rest of my life.

This book, however, cements my desire to see the journeys ahead for a few characters -- namely, Adrian the Moroi spirit user with the vice habits and Sydney the Alchemist who aided Rose through quite a few misadventures. (I'm also interested in an unusual Moroi by the name of Angeline; I'm certain Mead has plans for her as well.) The next VA series is set to be third-person, so chances are more likely than not that we'll see POVs from Adrian and Sydney at some points. (I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for a romance -- but that's just me.)

Overall -- yes, I liked this book. Yes, there were things I didn't like about it. Do I think Rose's "growth" was genuine throughout the series? No, not at all. I felt she didn't learn ENOUGH lessons. However -- flaws aside, I do think the series is a step above other young adult vampire series out there. And, yes, I do believe Bloodlines will prove to be just as engaging (and sometimes infuriating) as Vampire Academy was. I am a hopeless VA fan, so of course I'm already dying to know what will happen in the next series. All I can say for now: let the speculation begin! (less)

I really really REALLY hope this book does not disappoint. I have to say that I was disappointed that Rose and Dimitri didn't get back together in Spirit Bound although I had a feeling it wouldn't happen that fast. I thought that either Dimitri would feel horrible about the way he treated her as a Strigoi or Rose wouldn't be able to get over how he treated her as a Strigoi. Then later, why did she seem so determined for rose to use damon as her lawyer instead of abe, maybe theyve plotted to lose the case, and daniela knows abe, his reputation and the way he seems to get what he wants, now shes scared. As for adrian, Ive no idea, think he'll either die in some way to `sacrifice` his self for rose. or he'll get with sydney- she did say he was cute. I hope they do get together, then they can be in the spin-off series. I also wonder if something lissa did to dimitri when she saved him means he could have a child with rose, nobody knows what spirit magic is capable of. CAN NOT WAIT FOR LAST SACRIFICE.....Loveeddd spirit bound sooooo much... i was gutted when it ended. the last chapter was an amazin clif hanger lol... i felt like it was kind of like an insight to the next book and kinda what it has to offer ... i definitly think abe will get her out of jail at the court because they wouldn't continuously mention the fact he is like a big bad ass and has all these connections ... hes like the moroi verson of the godfather... i think dimitri will finally snap out...more

From reading the most recent book in this series Spirit Bound, I am absolutely desperate for Rose and Dimitri to be together. I was really looking forward to reading this book. Rose is one of my favorite characters and so I spent the last few months worrying about what was going to happen.

Highly anticipated books are always difficult. I can't imagine what it must be like to write a book that has to be exactly right, because let's face it, nobody wants to be the next Smeyer. Well my fictional journey with Rose Hathaway has concluded, and I have to say that I feel sort of sad, yet definitely resolved. Yup, that’s the word I’m looking for…resolved. In this series, Rose journeyed, struggled, fought and ultimately decided, and that’s that. I couldn’t have asked for anything more in a final installment for one of my favorite series.

Richelle Mead wrapped up this storyline in the best way I could have anticipated and regardless of what team you’re on… if you’re Team Rose, I think you’ll be satisfied.

I’ve rooted for Rose’s character from book one; and as much as Blood Promise and Spirit Bound had me doubting the development of this series, I never wavered in my allegiance to this main character. Up until Shadow Kiss, I was captain of Team Dimitri, by the end of Spirit Bound, I was organizing rallies for Team Adrian. Now, at the conclusion of The Last Sacrifice, I call myself a Team Rose fan and that’s how it should be. I’m happy with her choice as she worked hard for her version of a HEA.

There was a part in this story where it suddenly hits me why I loved Rose’s character so much. It’s when she’s telling one of the main characters that “…In spite of everything that’s happened, I’ve never thought of myself ... as a victim. Being a victim means you’re powerless. That you won’t take action, Always…. Always I’ve done something to fight for myself… for others. No matter what.” Reading that, proved to me why Rose’s character resonated so well with me, she’s strong, loyal, slightly arrogant and entirely decisive… all characters traits that delivered in the right dose had me rooting for her and respecting her choices and her fight. I loved it!

This final installment kicks off with Rose dealing with the aftermath of Queen Tatiana’s murder. She finds herself on the run trying to uncover the evidence that will prove her innocence and create the catalyst needed to infuse a drastic change in ruling faction of the Morois and Dhampirs. This book is filled with a ton of political strife, mysterious intrigue and most of all self revelation for the main character. She’s committed to Adrian, but as her quest with Dimitri takes her on a road trip of discovery. Much is uncovered that proves to rattle her hopes of finding some semblance of peace and love in her life.

There are a few aspects that I’d love to get a more conclusive ending for and this character happens to be one of my favorite in the series, but I’m the first to stand by the fact that not every element of a story comes with a pretty red bow. I hear Mead has plans for a spin off, so let’s see where she takes this one.

I have to admit that I was worried after the last two books that this final installment would just fall completely flat. Well, it didn’t not.one.bit. I was happy with the conclusion and I’ll read this entire series over again to experience Rose’s journey from day one. Great series! You done good Richelle Mead! You really have!

So this is by far the best book in the series every night it kept me up really late saying just one more chapter! I loved this book to death! I cant believe what happened! I was wrong on my previous thought on how the book was going to tern out. This is one of those sad times in life where you really don't want to admit something is bad because you feel like you have a commitment to it. That's how this review is for me. I would give anything to say that I loved this book, I felt it was a great ending & that I couldn't wish for more.

Well as you can see from my prediction below I was somewhat right, but mostly and oh so totally wrong. Well, what can I say...sensational! 'Last Sacrifice' is the last book in an amazing series, which has, to be honest, left me feeling a little depressed that it's all over. However, Ms Mead gave the ending I had dreamed of. It was emotional, moving, exciting, happy, sad...I loved every word.

'Last Sacrifice' began where 'Spirit Bound' ended with Rose behind bars. She can't quite believe she's in prison and being accused of assassinating the Moroi Queen. Fortunately, Rose gets to see the outside world through her link with Lissa but one day she can't get through - why is Lissa blocking her?

Rose doesn't know that her friends are plotting a plan to break her out of jail, which they do and that's when the fun ride begins. As I found with all the books in the VA series they are emotionally intense, action packed, rollar-coaster reads. 'Last Sacrifice' has it all and it sends you on an adventure with Rose and Dimitri, meeting past characters such as Sonya, Jill and even the evil Victor.

Dimitri tells Rose his only reason for protecting her and leaving Court behind is because Lissa requested it and as he owes Lissa his life, he is indebted to repay her. This hurts Rose, she wants him to want to do it because he loves her, but after his declaration that he doesn't love her any more she makes the decision to bury her feelings for Dimitri and move on, with Adrian.

I didn't know who Rose would choose, Dimitri or Adrian, but of course my heart was saying Dimitri. He's been my favourite since the very beginning and belongs with Rose in my eyes. But sometimes authors surprise you and take you down a different path. I won't give away any details but let's just say Ms Mead weaves a wonderful path that twists and turns and leaves you breathless.

There's a bit of a mystery to solve in this last instalment, as well as the usual wonderfully combined romance and action. Who really killed Queen Tatiana and who is Lissa's half-brother or sister? Rose and Dimitri set off to find out the latter while Rose's friends Lissa, Christian and others stay behind in Court to find out as much as they can about the former and clear Rose's name.

Lissa also has her own path to walk and it's a daunting one. She's nominated herself to be the next Queen and at first it was just to help clear Rose's name. But when she has to go through numerous tests she begins to realise that this is her destiny. The ending to Lissa's story is a beautiful one, with Christian still by her side.

There's also a shock in store when they find out the identity of Queen Tatiana's murderer and there's a moment when that person fire's a gun at Lissa and Rose jumps in front of the bullet...my heart was in my throat as at that point I really didn't know how 'Last Sacrifice' was going to end - was Ms Mead playing with me? Of course she was!!

'Last Sacrifice' has you going back and forth, round and round, never fully knowing how the lives of Rose and Dimitri, Lissa, Christian or Adrian and all the other well loved characters would end. But let me tell you it was a great ending, one definitely worth the wait...

VERDICT:

'Last Sacrifice' is the perfect end to a wonderful series. I'm happy with the way things were concluded. This series is one I won't forget and will probably read again in the future. If you haven't read this series yet then all I can say is you are missing out on something very special!

I just finnished reading Spirit bound (hallelujah) and have to say it was simply amazing. I think there is a big chance I will die till December...why do they torture us like that?

But I have a very good news for you: OF COURSE ROSE AND DIMITRI WILL END UP TOGETHER! There is no way it can end up differently. Come one, they are Roza and Dimka, they love each other and they always will...I like Adrian too and I wish he would find someone perfect for him but it's just NOT Rose.

Wow! What a fantastic conclusion to a brilliant series!! I absolutely loved every minute of these books. Last Sacrifice did not disappoint. There was a clear conclusion to many of the ongoing issues between Rose and the gang (I won't be too specific, I don't want to give anything a way here!), while still giving a sense of change and creating new and interesting plot points that will allow the overarching story of some key characters and the Morio/Dhampire people to continue in the spin-off seri...more Wow! I think my favourite part of this series has been Mead's ability to allow you to feel for the characters in a way that seems natural - when Dimitri was restored to his dhampire self but turned Rose down in the previous book, I shared her pain. Similar happy and sad moments occur in this book and there is still that emotional connection to all the characters. I find it be very natural, which is weird because I'm not much for empathy with books. The style of the writing is so smooth and the tone is conversational, which makes me feel as though I know Rose and the group personally. Its not flowery or filled with adjectives and exaggerated feelings to force empathy from the reader. It is positively delightful! I was sad to finish it, not because of a bad ending but because I never wanted this series to end. The promise of spin-off has kept me going! Thanks to Richelle Mead for writing a such an enjoyable series!!

Also some great themes of love and redemption. And is it just me, isn't Abe awesome?

I'm impatiently awaiting this book.

I wonder if Last Sacrifice is referring to the fact that obviously something big/epic/dramatic is going to happen between Strigio and the Morio, but at the end of this Rose and Dimitri finally get it together and the laws of the guardians change, and the Morio learn to fight too. So it would be a last sacrifice in the sense that all their lives guardians have had to sacrifice their own personal lives, but never again...???

If Rose or Dimitri dies I will be so disappointed.(less)
