Fans of erotic romance featuring a few ménage scenes with a couple of sweet talking cowboys
This was a sweet, sexy, and often comical story about a pretty, 35 year-old New York City romance author who engages in a steamy hot affair with a couple of young (20 somethings) studly, Texas bull riders while attending a romance writers convention (sounded like one of the RT conventions) in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Cat Johnson writing voice and bull riding descriptions are sexy and fun. After reading UnRidden I wanted to go see some bull riders in action.
Slade has had no problem with sharing woman in the past, that is until he met Jenna. Before he met Jenna he was in a slump, tired of just having sex. It all begins with a bet of a new pair of chaps that Mustang can not get Jenna naked. It should be like all the other times just a one night stand, until their night with Jenna and everything changes. He is s...more

Cat Johnson is an author I discovered a few months back, liked the sound of her books, so I’ve been wanting to see if I like what she has to offer. I admit that most of the time I’m not bowled over when I finally get to experience authors out of the blue like this, but sometimes you find a gem or two.
I’m happy to say that Ms. Johnson may be one of those gems. This is my first book by her and I’m already looking at her backlist to find others to try. I like her writing a lot. And her characters....more

I'm not sure where to start with this one. This book is getting some mixed reviews, which I like. Some love it, some like it, and some hate it. Me? I'm somewhere between love and like. I think.
I certainly don't hate it. But I think that has something to do with the fact that I've read quite a few duds lately, and compared to these books, this one is a breath of fresh air.
The character hook-up is your standard M/F/M. No nasty between the male characters. Sadly. :D

Whoa Boy! I'm seriously blushing writing this, talk about hot ménage à trois! I have never felt drawn to read a romance or erotic romance with more than two participants in the bedroom ( in the story mind you! ) but somehow as I wanted to read a modern western I saw this book pop-up on Goodreads. Got my hands on it and was bit surprised as the two bull riders catch a girl off the audience and um... go at it. That's not the story however ( just Chapter 1 ) but it just shocked me a little... now t...more
Unridden is one of those books that really makes me wish for a half star because it was better than three stars, but it never quite captures a fourth star.

While in Tulsa at a romance authors' convention, she meets Mustang Jackson (so nicknamed for his oversized wang of mighty lovin') and Slade Bower, two pro bull riders in town for a champion...more

I really enjoyed this book. UnRiddens main character Jenna was a writer who after having her manuscript turned down was told that a "cowboy" novel would be her best chance at selling. Ironically she was scheduled to go to a romance convention in Tulsa where it just so happened that a Bull riding competition was being held. She ended up scrapping her original plan and basing her novel on her interactions with the Bull riders she met.

Unridden: is about a romance author, Jenna whose latest book flopped, so now has to decide on what to write next. She picks Bull riding cowboys, but being a city girl from NY has no clue about cowboys or rodeos. As with all authors, research is first, but she also has a romance conference to attend. Coincidentally, a Rodeo is going on near her conference. At the rodeo, she meets with two sexy bull riders Slade & Mustang. Jenna enlists their help with the research her book, but Mus...more

UNRIDDEN is a steamy, sexy and fun read that made me want to look into going to some bull-riding competitions. It was a great read-comical, sexy and just plain fun. It's the first book in the Studs and Spurs series, and whew, what at great start! This book got me drawn into the world that Cat Johnson created, so that there is no chance that I could even imagine not continuing wit...more

I don’t normally read cowboy books so wasn’t sure what to expect, that said I struggled with a number of things about this story.
The sex was so-so, probably because I didn't really care about the characters. I found it hard to believe that a guy in his 20’s had to show a 35 year old female, where her g-spot was, and by the way she didn’t even realise she had one.
Then I had to deal with the lame names (Slade, Mustang, Brani, Candy) and as if they weren’t enough the author had to top it...more

Summary: Two hot cowboys meet one city girl and one falls in love.
Contains spoilers:
I had higher hopes for this one. My problem was, I kept compairing it to Lorelei James' Rough Riders the first one. I know that is probably not fair, but the story had the same feel.
The major difference was character build up and connection. With Unridden, I didn't feel that connection between Slade and Jenna. I felt it more with Mustang and Jenna. But, even that connection didn't feel like a lasting one. More...more

I really enjoyed this read. I love the characters. A lot of authors ignore the complications that come with having a menage. I love that CJ played up the subtle jealousies and lack there of in the different characters without taking away from the story or the sex scenes. This is not a typical menage story and I like it all the more because of that.
I would like to have gotten a little more history of the characters. I love that Slade was the stoic silent type, but even so there could have been a...more

I Loved this story. I thought it was great that the heroine was a somewhat older (35) romance writer who had lost her focus and was forced to consider a new romance theme to write about. Her interaction with Slade and Mustang was explosive. Mercy, you need a cold shower after reading those love scenes. Slade was so reserved and brooding while Mustang was so carefree and sexy. Who wouldn't want to be the filling in this cowboy sandwich? The one who stole my heart was Chase. He wasn't in the book...more
I really enjoyed the set-up in this one: an erotic romance writer from New York has been told by her publisher that her last book was a flop and her sex scenes are uninspired and boring. She needs inspiration fast and decides to do some research on cowboys and rodeos while in Tulsa at a conference. She meets two bull riders, Slade and Mustang, who are known for sharing more than a trailer together. They agree to help her with the research, but also take her to bed. I seem to be on a cowboy kick lately, and that's not a bad thing!! This book had it all, insecure heroine, two sexy, and well sexed, cowboys, lots of hot sex and some laugh aloud moments! Mustang is a hoot, and Slade so stubborn, our heroine, she just wants to protect her heart - and Chase, what a little cutie!

I really liked a lot about this book. Cat Johnson is a great writer, and I typically really like her work.
This book just didn't do it as much for me. I love menage, but I love it when it means something to all parties. The men have a great friendship, but Slade having difficulty sharing Jenna made it a hard read for me. Mustang isn't in love with Jenna, even though he finds her hot so in some ways it works. But mostly the sex made me uneasy.

Woah Momma!! Not just one sexy cowboy... BUT TWO!!!!!!

The quiet and sexy Slade and the silver tongued, well endowed Mustang. Yup, you got my attention!

She needs them for her new book and they wanted her for some extra curricular activities... It didn't take long for her to throw caution to the wind and let her hair down. You go girl!!!!

Don't forget, this isn't just smut... there is a romance novel in there too.

A fun book that has a clueless New York romance novelist discovering the culture, fun, dust, excitement and men of the rodeo circuit. Needing to write a new kind of romance novel, Jenna Block travels to Oklahoma to interview, meet, and perhaps get friendly with some who are a part of this lifestyle and who are competitors in the circuit. She gets that and more. These's lots of fun in this book and it is an interesting journey of discovery for Jenna. Not a heavy book, by any means, but I enjoyed...more
A very easy read. Finished this one during breaks at work over a couple of days. Def looking forward to reading book 2 in the series, Bucked. I liked all, and even loved some, of the characters. What i didnt buy was that Jenna really was falling for Slade as hard as he was falling for her. She seemed far more interested in both men equally until the very end. I just couldnt swallow her deep love for only one of them.

This was a fun first-in-series book. Slade was an odd character. He and Mustang were used to just banging chicks and running away, but something about Jenna called to Slade. And he had no idea how to handle it. It's a good thing Mustang was there to keep prodding Slade in the right direction. But I can't believe Slade didn't call Jenna after Tulsa!! He's lucky she'd even talk to him or Mustang after that. Chase also helped quite a bit in this one, although I don't think he did it on purpose. Fir...more
I literally couldn't put it down. Stayed up all night just to finish it and regretted having to close the book.
My first cat johnson. I'm going back for another round. Can't wait to read the story for chase.
The sex scenes were hot as lit dynamite. The characters were funny and believable.
If you haven't read cat Johnson, take her for a ride.
She's sure to give you a good one. :-)

Well Hello Sexy Cowboys, I am still sitting here fantasizing about these hot cowboys who know what to do and what to say. What is it about a hot man who tips his hat and says "hello Ma'am" or "Hello Darlin"? All I can say about UnRidden is holy hotness!!! This book had it all for me, great story, well balanced characters, smut, and sexy chap wearing cowboys ready for a good time.
DOn't have much to say about the book. The plot was weak, I didn't connect with the characters at all: thought that Slade was a bore, Jenna wasn't that much either and the only one that made me feel something was Mustang and the whole book led you to believe that that threesome was going to lead somewhere and then it didn't and everything just seemed rushed to an end.
This book was just okay for me. Didn't have me on pins and needles but also didn't have me pulling out my hair in frustration either. It was a quick (finished it in under a day) easy read. If you like cowboys without all the deatiled heat then this book is for you. If you like a little more details in your scenes then you might want to skip on the book. Just depends on what kind of mood your in I guess

Cute and sweet...my my, I've evolved since my first ER read. Since when an ER is cute and sweet?
I meant it in a good way, the characters and plot were cute and sweet...simple storyline with simple resolution, mixed with lots of hot scenes.
It's hot and captured my attention enough to keep me on the elliptical for 20 miles over 4 days resulting 2 pounds loss, woohoo!

Hmmmm...yummy cowboys. Jenna was clueless, but very likable. Slade was too used to someone new every night and was ready for a change. Mustang had good insight and could see what his friend couldn't even admit to himself. I liked the story quite a bit. The sex was hot and the connection between all the characters worked really well.
'Ah, irony' is my first thought and impression of the book. The main female character is a romance writer who finds herself needs to write a romance with cowboys as the hero of the piece. During the time frame from denial about her need to embark on the new genre and encountering her cowboys, her latest book is reviewed and the review discusses the boring sex that just goes through the motions without emotion. Supposedly these cowboys teach her sex with emotion and pleasure but I didn't get that...more
I thought the premise of this book was great. Romance writer does research on her upcoming book. I just found that the way she just sort of threw her hands in the air and said “whatever” to a threesome with two strangers was a little farfetched. Having said that the sex was freakin’ hot and I do love a cowboy.
After buying and starting four books this weekend, I finally found my page turner. It wasn't a page turner because of some twist, for me it was because of the writing, I had to know how it ended. There is no angst, no mind fucking just a sweet and sexy story about two people falling in love and 3 people getting it on. :)

It all started in first grade when Cat Johnson won the essay contest at Hawthorne Elementary School and got to ride in the Chief of Police's car in the Memorial Day Parade...and the rest, as they say, is history. As an adult, Cat generally tries to stay out of police cars and is thrilled to be writing for a living. She has been published under a different name in the Young Adult genre, but release...more

“Yeah I'm done. Chase frigging Reese." Slade shook his head. Mustang laughed again. Nothing like some good old-fashion jealousy to make a man see clearly. "Yeah, I know. The kid's got balls. I'll give him that. I guess we better show her what real men can do for her, huh?" "Oh yeah." Slade let out a snort. "'You get a buckle for that you know.' Yeah. I bet he made sure she knew that.”
