This is a great reference book for interior designers.
It is similarly formatted like a dictionary--there are color-coded tabs which help to distinguish the different sections. Also, it is chronologically laid out, which I thought was helpful, so you can see how various styles "evolved" over time.
My only criticism of Elements of Style is that the glossary was not extensive enough. I wish that instead of having to look up certain terms in the dictionary, I could have found them in the book itsel...more

Stephen Calloway is a curator of paintings at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
He is an expert on 19th century art, and has made a particular study of the decadent and dandy culture of the fin de siecle.
