AN ENCHANTED SEASON - 4 STARS
The reason that I bought this book was because of the Nalini Singh book as I am obsessed with the Psy-Changeling series. Naturally, I read that story first, but I couldn't not read the rest of the book. So I started at the beginning, reading it straight through (Of course I read Singh's story again!) and I'm glad I bought it because I liked all the stories.

Only read Nalini Singh's "Beat of Temptation."
Thought it was amazing. Caught me by surprise how emotionally involved I became. I cried and I haven't done that in a while. I thought Tamsin was just about the perfect heroine, trying everything to get her mate to be with her, it was heart-breaking and heart-lifting at the same time. Nate, our stubborn hero, wore on my nerves, but in a good and frustrating way (if that's possible).
So very happy that I read More...

"Melting Frosty" by Maggie Shayne. 4 stars. VERY GOOD!! A real tear-jerker! Holly and Mathew. She is an upholder of Christmas cheer and he is a Scrooge. (Read 12/07)

"Charlotte's Webb" by Erin McCarthy. 3 1/2 stars. 1st story in Murphy Sisters series. A solidly good story, almost a little too sugary-sweet for me. Charlotte and Will are long-time best friends, but have been secretly attracted to each other for years. Charlotte finds out that she is a witch du More...

Only read Beat of Temptation by Nalini Singh....

4.5 stars. Loved this short story about Nate and Tamsyn getting together. It was great to get a more in-depth look into their characters. They are both just great, and I had to laugh at how hard-headed Nate was. Glad that Tamsyn did what she needed to do get get Nate to wake up to what she needed. :)

The only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars was the lack of loving. :( Of course, it was implied, but with all t More...

Decided to only read the one story by Nalini Singh. Didn't attempt the others.

**Spoilerish**

The story by Nalini Singh is part of her Psy Changeling series and stars Tamsyn and Nate. This is the story of their relationship and mating. I loved it. It was so emotional. Tamsyn just broke my heart with her believing that Nate didn't want her. And Nate being the idiot man he is, thought he was giving her the space she needed before bonding with her - when he finally wised More...

Melting Frosty by Maggie Shayne was an interesting short story. I wasn't sure I was going to like it but it got better as it went. I did enjoy the aspect that both characters had a tragic Christmas as a child and how they both took different paths with Christmas; one hating it and one loving it. It was an enjoyable story and while I haven't liked some of her short stories in the past, this is one I would gladly re-read.

Charlotte's Web by Erin McCarthy was my second favorite story of th More...

I picked this book up from the library for a few reasons. Mainly winter is coming, and with it my bah humbug attitude. I can feel it in my bones. Yes, I am 90 years old. To help get me through the season I seek out holiday heartwarming reads. Chicken Soup for Nikki’s soul, if you will. I also picked it up because I had heard wonderful things about Nilini Singh and my library didn’t have any of her work other than this anthology. My library isn’t the best. I need to live in a bigger county.

I have recently found that I read compilations much faster than other stories, so I wanted to get through as many of the ones in my library as I could. I started with this one because it's a little late in the season for it and I have always like Erin McCarthy. I was however extremely disappointed with these stories. I never felt like I cared about the characters. Here is a brief overview of the four stories that are included in this book:

The holidays are a time of magic and good cheer. So what better time for four tales of romance influenced by paranormal means? I have yet to read any of the four authors outside of anthologies so this was certainly a good sampler for me. As a lover of holiday tales this appealed to me when it first hit shelves but I waited and found a used copy on Ebay which I don't think the previous owner realized was not only in mint condition but signed by Shayne. I wanted to read it then (spring) but held o More...

I would rate this collection as a whole as 3 1/2 stars. As always with collections of different stories, I liked some better than others. My favorite was the story by Maggie Shayne which is what drew my attention to the book. I would give this story 4 1/2 stars. The main characters appear to be opposites, but a little bit of Christmas magic brings them together. The ending was great and I was smiling and crying at the same time. for

This review/rating is only for Beat of Temptation by Nalini Singh.

I’ll be honest. I didn’t think much about Nate and Tamsyn. They were just always there. Both are an integral part of the Pack, but they were always on the peripheral. Tammy is the healer and Nate is a sentinel, but Beat of Temptation gives us the chance to read their story.

Wow. I absolutely loved their story to bits! Tammy is just 19 years old while Nate is 29. The large age different plays a part in thei More...

This is a collection of 4 paranormal, holiday stories by authors Maggie Shayne, Erin McCarthy, Nalini Singh, and Jean Johnson. All 4 are authors I've read and enjoyed, so I'm very much looking forward to reading it. I will post a review for each story individually, as I go.

I only review the short story written by Nalini Singh

That said, awwww. That was such a cute story. I always wanted to know more about Nate and Tamsyn so it was great to read "their" story, how they fell in love and mate and all. Although honestly, I wanted to slap Nate several times. Seriously, how stupid can one man/leopard be? Gosh!

But Tamsyn was awesome. Like always. She just kicked ass. And her humour....LOL The banter with Nate was just beyond funny sometim More...

Melting Frosty Maggie Shayne: * male protagonist changed from cranky & bitter to lovable way too fast to be believable -- very annoying
Charlotte's Web Erin McCarthy: ** sort of entertaining, but the idea of a love/lust spell is offensive to me - you're taking away a person's choice.
Beat of Temptation Nalini Singh: ***1/2 Sort of a prequel story to Psy-Changeling series. Tells the story of Tamsyn the healer and her mate Nate.
Gift of the Magi Jean Johnson: *** modern type angel/wi More...

Because there are 4 different stories in here, I'll review them separately as I finish each.

Melting Frosty ~ by Maggie Shayne = 3 stars
This was okay. Nothing spectacular, by any means, but it was cute. There were several times where the "romance" was over the top, but for a short story, you can't expect much.

The Enchanted Season contains 4 stories by favorite authors. I especially liked Beat of Temptation by Nalini Singh, a short story set in the Psy-Changeling world. A prequel to the books in the series you don't want to miss the story of Nate and Tamsyn's mating.

I only read Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling story in this.

Beat of Temptation is the story of Tamsyn and Nate and I absolutely loved reading about this cute couple from the DarkRiver Pack!!

Captivating line:

“Because I adored everything about you as much then as I do now,” he whispered, giving her words because she needed them, and because he’d made her cry. There was no excuse for that. “It wasn’t sexual—you were too young. It was just this tightness inside my chest. E More...

I read three out of the four short stories in 'An Enchanted Season'.

I purchased the book mainly for Nalini Singh's, 'Beast of Temptation'. I love her Changeling-Psy series and didn't want to miss out on this one. Short story is not my favorite writing style but I enjoyed getting the back story of Tamsyn and Nate who are important secondary characters in the Changeling-Psy series. Tamysn has to overcome Nate's reluctance to make her his mate (he thinks he's doing the right thing s More...

After reading Slave to Sensation, I found out there was Nate and Tamsyn's story thanks to my great friend, Leigh. {Thanks Leigh...u ROCK!!} I'm so glad she told me. I loved their story. I don't think you can really appreciate them without reading this story.

Initially I picked this up for Beat of Temptation by Nalini Singh. The story is about Tamsyn and Nate from the Psy-Changling series, two characters I really enjoyed, so I was excited to find out how the two got together. Of course, the story didn't disappoint. I also enjoyed Charlotte's Web by Erin McCarthy, featuring Charlotte and Will. Both Melting Frosty and Gifts of the Magi weren't my taste and both read very slow to me, especially the latter of the two. More...

The Nalini Singh offering earns this one four stars all on its own.

The Maggie Shayne story, Melting Frosty, is a tale of opposites attracting against all odds, and was pleasant and heartwarming, and quite charming. I liked it.

The second part, Erin McCarthy's Charlotte's Web,wasn't bad, either. I nice little story of two people who have loved each other for years, but didn't know their feelings were returned. Another nice story.

This story is the BEST short story I have come across by Nalini Singh! For those you are fans of the series the story is about Nate and Tammy (the coolest and most amazing pair out of the DarkRiver pack). It is amazing to finally know their story! It is also great to see characters that don't appear normally in the novels.

While I bought this anthology for the Nalini Singh novella, I enjoyed 2 of the other stories.
The first one (by Maggie Shayne) was a sweet Christmas story about a cynic man and a woman who lives trusting her instincts who meet through faith. The hat is a character in and of itself which adds a nice touch to the story. ****
Second story was Singh's, which was absolutely breathtaking. I just loved Nathan and Tamsyn's story and how they came to mate. *****

Couldn't Nate and Tamsyn story be MORE adorable?? *sigh*. Sure, the plot reminds me a bit of Nora Roberts' older story of the MacGregor Groom (how the guy wants the girl to explore her life a bit) -- which of course, is an idiot thing to do, Nate! -- but I've fallen in love with Nate and Tamsyn as a couple on the full-length novels, it is so great reading how the get together.
