This, the third installment of the Masters of the Shadowlands series is every bit as good as the first two, and in my opinion, even better. I’m a huge fan of the Romantic Suspense genre, so I really enjoyed the action/adventure aspect to this story.

After a failed attempt at escape almost cost Beth her life, she has finally gotten away from her sadistic husband, Kyler Stanton, who has left her badly scarred, both inside and out. Free and on her own, hiding from the man she is terrified of, she t More...

I think when the books have woman who come with baggage, are the ones I like the best. They're more emotional and intense for me, which is just what I like in my reads.

Beth, on the run from her sadistic, psycho husband, is a submissive to the core. She has been gone for a few months and thinks she may have finally found a place to call home...for now. Needing to be dominated and feel like a woman, she finds the bdsm club, Shadowlands and joins. It's the More...

This series is getting better & better!! My favorite thing about these books are the Doms, who are very alpha sexy but still have a sweet, tender side.

Nolan's story did not disappoint. There is no way a girl could not just love these alpha men (Doms). Master Nolan turned out to be very compassionate & caring in contrast to his hard exterior. Early in the story he discovers that he longs to have a life partner not just bdsm partnership. Taking Beth as challenged request from Master Z to help her overcome a very painful past that is inhabiting her ability to satisfy her needs. Master Nolan proves to be just the Dom to do it! And, damn does h More...

I feel like I should be addressing Cherise with Master because she really is a master storyteller. Each book in her Masters of the Shadowlands series gets better than the one before.

In BREAKING FREE, Master Nolan, the darkly seductive contractor finds a lovely submissive in Beth.

However, after two years of being abused by her sadist husband, Klyer Stanton, Beth finds it difficult to trust someone completely and with good reason! Upon her skin, Beth wears the trauma tha More...

Wow. I loved Breaking Free and it's in my top 5 BDSM favorites.

What an amazing story about a damaged, abused, hurt sub named Beth and how a strong and serious dom named Nolan, tries to help her and heal her. I could feel the connection between the two of them from their first encounter. Hot and sexy with a touch of suspense. Loved it!

For those of you that are confused about BDSM or turned off by it, this book details a positive Dom/sub relationship and how BDSM can be used to transform and heal More...

Personally, I'm not a fan of this series. The only reason this book received 3 stars is because of the ending. It was fantastic! Not to mention, Ms. Sinclair is a superb erotic writer.

However, the public sharing, public humiliation, group menages, and sadistic violence (side plot) that took place in this book went beyond what I'm comfortable with or enjoy reading. Needless to say, I'm not sure I'll be continuing the series.

I'm grateful The Dom's Dungeon and Mountain Masters series were my first More...

This is the third book in the Masters of the Shadowlands series and if possible it was the best one yet. The storyline was more complex with the added element of suspense which as a romantic suspense junkie I really enjoyed. If possible the Dom/s scenes and sex were some of the hottest ones yet...they were off the chain...errr wait there were chains involved more than once and a whole lot more. One thing Sinclair does in her stories that I like is to not repeat the same “types” of scenes in each More...

Well, Mrs. Sinclair you are just upping your game aren’t you?

Now first I have to say, for most people, people that have no internal understanding of the BDSM lifestyle this particular book in the series, they would not understand at all!

The heroine is a domestic abuse victim. She was previous married to a Dom that got off on inflicting sever pain (Broken bones, cutting) on his wife in order to get off himself. In the defense of the lifestyle I have to say that this is not common but it does hap More...

Master Nolan is most talented at coaxing the desired response from his subs. Beth is a wounded one--physically and mentally abused by her Dom/husband for 2 years--head Dom at the Shadowlands, Master Z is not sure any Dom will be able to bring her back around. Master Nolan is up for the challenge! Wow! He sure has a knack for giving her what she needs--even when *she* doesn't know what she needs.

Oh! I must confess that I was wrong...(Gasp)...if you read any of my previous Shadowland reviews, I m More...

Breaking Free by Cherise Sinclair

No ‘third times a charm’ requirement for the third book in this series. They have all been charms to me and I’ve enjoyed reading them.

Master Nolan…what to say…”The man simply radiated force, his bearing supremely self-confident.” and “With him, dominant was more than a term; it was who he was to the bone.”

Beth…God was a strong woman. To have gone through HELL and kept on going. To have put herself out there again and not given up all HOPE. (view spoiler)[To have come to believe (hide spoiler)] More...

Holy Crap-ola!!! If you don't fall for Nolan by the end of this book you might want to go get re-wired! I know he's all mean looking and what not, but the way he treats Beth.... aaaaaaah.... :) I'm pretty sure any women would feel happy in his arms. At the very least I would... Although I did want to slap him for how he treated her after her lie/confession about still being married... had he taken a min. he would have realised right away why she was still married... HELLO A-HOLE you've seen her More...

I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars. Cherise Sinclair writes broken heroines who really tug at the heartstrings.

Beth has suffered at the hands of a sadist who just happens to be her husband and the story opens with her at Shadowlands trying to rebuild her life and searching for a Dom who can make her feel safe again. Her tallest hurdle is trusting him enough to give over control of herself in every way.

I loved the push and pull of Beth's struggle, her fears were entirely believable More...

This is my brief summary about All of "The Shadowlands" series.
Often misunderstood the bdsm lifestyle frightens many people, but it can be truly enlightening and freeing for those who are able to find the inner dom/sub in each of us.
The series are based around a highly exclusive bdsm club called 'The Shadowlands". High dollar membership and screenings for all members, as well as strict rules , 'dungeon monitors' for all rooms and a club 'safeword'. There is never any hurt/pain or harm here, unl More...

Book three of the Shadowland
We get another new yummy Master. Dark brooding and scary as all get out alpha male lead, Nolan, doing a favor for the club's owner, Master Z. And out new leading lady is cold as ice, independent little Beth. Both of them have trust issues, both of them have been hurt, and both of them have that stubborn mindset that means they're going to stick to the stupid stuff till the bitter end.
We've still got those standard characters with that delightfully kinky twist, but Bet More...

After escaping from an abusive relationship with her sadistic husband, the Shadowlands is the only place Beth feels at home. Despite the fear Kyler has put in her, Beth is submissive to the bone but too nervous to allow experienced Doms to top her. However, the inexperienced Doms she chooses are doing nothing for her. When Z tells her she has to accept being topped by Nolan or risk losing her membership, she knows she has no choice. Nolan is an experienced Dom who won't let her get away with any More...

Master Nolan is a contractor who just came from Iraq and also a post military man, despite his work nature, he has a soft spot for his sub Beth, who was badly scarred, beaten & traumatized by her husband Kyler. Despite Beth's traumatic nature and hard limits, she was able to build trust with her Dom Master Nolan in exploring her sensuality, passion, inhibitions, and sexuality. But being Nolan who divorced his wife because she cheated on him, he faces the same situation with Beth when he foun More...

Wow props to Beth in this book. She was married to a sadistic man who beat her black & blue & tried to destroy her spirit. After escaping his clutches she moves to Tampa and signs up to join the Shadowlands as it's in a BDSM lifestyle that she truly feels like a woman.

Problem is her husband has made her bury her feeling so deep that she is struggling at the club to be aroused by any of the Doms she has met, as she only lets less Dominant men top her as she is frightened to death of exper More...

I'm starting to hate that all this heroes seems to be fond of plump women: four in three books seems statistically weird... And unfair: send some this way!
I also hope Zachary will not end up being a new Marguerite Argeneau: the matchmaker of ecah one of his clients/friends/relatives/collaborators 'cause I find it quite irritating.

Even if only like secondary character or just extras, we already knew Nolan and Beth from the previous book so it was easier to be involved in their story, also thanks More...

There's no doubt about it - Cherise Sinclair is a "Master" at writing emotional, romantic stories that center on BDSM lifestyles. She handles this subject with such deference and respect, that her books, and the characters within, come across as sincere and complex.

In 'Breaking Free', we are introduced to Beth, a physically and emotionally scarred woman hiding from her sadistic husband. A member of the exclusive Shadowlands Club and a submissive by nature, she is unable to let go and enjoy hers More...

For the synopsis you can read the blurb or other reviews – I think there are enough.

What didn't work for me:
About 193 times "Sir/Sirs" and "Master" even appears much more than "Sir". I didn't have the nerve to count.
8 times "crease in his cheek/his cheek creased". I felt that it was much more but I could be wrong.
11 times "his eyes crinkled/eyes crinkling".
*Ugh* It bugged the h*** out of me!

Nolan in street clothes is JUST Nolan and not "Sir/Master/Dom". He is quite the easy going guy. But the l More...

3 ½ stars. Story is better than most erotic books. There is a lot of public nudity, sex, bondage, and pain.

STORY BRIEF:
Beth was a submissive – liked being dominated. She married Kyler a sadist. He burned her, crushed her fingers and left scars from whips and knives all over her body. She ran away and is in hiding. She provides gardening services. She comes to the Shadowlands bdsm club. She has a long list of what she will not accept from Doms, but she is never sexually aroused by them. Master Z More...

This is my favorite in the series so far. Coincidentally, I've read similar books where the heroine was abused in all aspects (physical, mental, emotional) and the hero figures out a way for her to trust him. Cherise Sinclair pulled it off well. For a short-length novel, this contained a lot of hot spanking sex (pun intended), tender moments, and some scenes that brought tears to my eyes (good ones).

Beth ran away from her abusive husband/Dom and is now making herself a living at Club Shadowlands More...

Book 3 in this series, Cherise Sinclair writes of a woman whose submissive nature continues to involve her in the BDSM world inspite of a sadistic husband from whom she has flown. Not only did she need to find a way to cope with the abuse and severe pain/injuries, she finds that all her emotional responses have also been shut down. She comes to Club Shadowlands and in spite of her willingness she does not find an effective Dom until Master Nolan is asked to take her in hand. Beth is so damaged a More...

Breaking Free gives us a look into Master Nolan's world. He has returned from serving his country and is ready for some one to serve him...heh heh. (Sorry but I had to)

Master Z basically tells him that he is to top Beth, who has been coming to the Shadowlands for awhile but has yet to cum IN the Shadowlands. Her choices in Dom's have been safe, easy, and totally non-exciting for her.

Nolan is a scary dude that can finally take the control Beth needs. Unfortunately Beth has a psyco husband, that More...

"Great characters, wonderful story. Whether you're into BDSM or not, this is the book to read! Hard to put down!"

Cherise Sinclair knew how to twist your emotions into a giant, tangled knot where you hurt along with the heroine (and root for her all the way) or melt at the gentleness and understanding exhibited by the big and strong hero who knew what she needed.

Nolan King is an irresistible hero, especially when seen through the heroine's eyes. Irresistible not because More...

WOW and double WOW! 5 steaming stars for this one!

I absolutely loved this book. The series just keeps getting better and better with each installment. I think this is one of the books in the series that actually gives us some action and a scary story, along with the HEA and the usual club activity. Both characters looking for something out of the normal; both characters flawed superficially, yet in the reader's eyes, they are just absolutely perfect and made for each other. It was definitely the strongest one, thus far in the series. Those reading the series were only just introduced to Nolan in the Last book, Dark Citadel, so I really didn't know what to make of him. I think Sinclair did a great job of presenting him as a really tough, disciplined Dom. I could feel how intimidating he was from the beginning, but, of course, as the story progresses we get to see how much of a sweetheart he is deep down. Beth, on the other hand, definitely earned her nickname - "Lit More...
