11/15/12 - Just re-read this in anticipation of me getting Saphyre Snow from the library. This is in the top 5 of my McClure favorites so far. Just love her older stuff (regency/westerns/medievil)

So good. Another McClure book I could not put down. I literally tried to do as little possible today so I could sit and read this. Loved the hero, loved the heroine. Great characters all around. Great story. I can't wait to get my hands on more of her books. It's my new quest.

4.5/5 stars. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would! I give the first half of the book 5 stars, and the second half 4 stars. I was skeptical about reading about someone who's already a princess - I more like a Cinderella type story. But I finally read this and was surprised by it. I loved the strength of Broderick and how his King had every confidence in him, and all he had to do was decide he was done playing games and he could instantly unhorse or kill someone, just like that! I wasn't ann...more

For book club, we are reading any book by Marcia Lynn McClure and one of my friends recommended "A Crimson Frost." I must admit I was extremely apprehensive. Cheese-tastic romance books are not really my thing. At all. But I was pleasantly surprised. The story is actually quite engaging and enjoyable. It's somewhat reminiscent of the movie "A Knight's Tale", but with her own spin on it. I think the author did a great job of weaving a creative tale. I really loved that part of it.

With that said,...more

I devoured this book. What a great telling of Knights and royalty. Honor, love and devotion entwine with imminent battle. Sir Broderick and Monet are a wonderful love story.

sigh.

I'm a bit sensitive right now to how much crying is in a book (see my review of Lydia), despite knowing that especially in a war scenario there will probably be crying. But in this case it was moisture. Moisture covered her eyes, her lids, her cheeks, her nose, her lips, her...blah blah.

It was actually a decent plot, it just fell short of what it could have been. And a further note to authors - do NOT WRITE POETRY! Most of you do it dreadfully, and especially when you do some long song for a...more

I really loved this medieval love story about a Princess and the First Knight of her kingdom. I thought that it was more fleshed out than the other Marcia McClure book that I read. I was swept back in time and loved the journey. Again, the romantic aspects of the book were swoon worthy and clean.

Having said that, I couldn't help but think how much better still it could have been with a better editing job. The typos and grammatical issues were distracting to me. I hate being pulled from a story...more

A Crimson Frost is quite possibly Marcia Lynn McClure's best story in her whole collection. (Do not confuse this with Broderick being the best hero - I still hold a soft spot for Ryder and Ransom and Mason...)

Set back in the days of kings, queens and valiant knights, A Crimson Frost follows the Crimson Knight and Scarlet Princess as they discover their secreted love for one another while living in exile when war breaks out with a neighboring kingdom.

The style of writing is similar to Born for T...more

Okay everyone, let's get real. This book is not amazing......It is astounding, breathtaking, beautifully written, wonderful, and soul possessing (O-o). Marcia really did a great job on this novel and I hope to be able to get the chance to read some of her other ones, but back to this one. I honestly couldn't put this book down. My sister handed it to me and I was like,'gee thanks.......' Then I started reading it and I was like, 'wow!!!!' and then when I finished it, I died. Of course I came bac...more

Ahhh... the preferred, 1st knight of the Kingdom Karvana, Sir Broderick Dougray, is to fight in a 3-day tournament ending in a jousting match carrying a scarlet favor from the Princess Monet which will honor her and the Kingdom if he wins. Though there are hidden agendas afoot, secret lives to be discovered, and moments that will stretch the will-power and strength of even our Crimson Knight. Will he and the princess be able to save the good and honored Kingdom of Karvana or will the arrogant Ki...more

I loved this book. It's a romance novel and I thought it was sooo romantic! I kept wishing someone would make a movie based on this book. I would love to see it! I loved the characters. My favorites are: Monet, Broderick, Bronson, and Sarah. I loved the relationship Monet had with her father. So sweet. I also loved how their kingdom meant EVERYTHING to them. I loved the ending too!

The summary looked interesting so I decided, hey, why not? I started after I got off work one night and didn't realize it was 5 in the morning when I finally realized that I was tired. It captures you and draws you in. I kept reading, trying so hard to decipher the characters themselves, what they are thinking, how they feel, what they may do next. But no matter how hard I tried I couldn't predict this one. Great storyline and great characters. Although took sometimes awhile with the ballads in...more

Amazing Medieval historical Romance

This is the second medieval romance by Marcia Lynn McClure for me after Highwayman Of Tanglewood.

Normally I go for cowboys or frontier lawmen for my heroes, but Marcia has turned my thoughts to the era of Knights and Lords and Kingdoms, and Castles.

A Crimson Frost is a wonderfully developed romance with kissing scenes you have to read to believe. No one does kissing scenes like Marcia. She makes the reader feel as though they are sharing in the kiss.

If you have n...more

So if you want a totally sappy and predictable love story with princesses and knights, this is the book for you. I couldn't rate it higher because I was too embarrassed to say I loved it, but it was incredibly romantic and exciting and totally clean for a romance novel. I couldn't put it down and just devoured it in only 2 days. Maybe I was just craving some love and romance or maybe it was the snuggly, rainy day that was perfect for a good book! Either way, it was delightful and I'm glad I pick...more

This was my 6th book by Marcia Lynn McClure and most definitely not my last. I haven't been disappointed by one of her books yet!

A Crimson Frost is about a Princess and the First Knight of her father's kingdom. She has loved him ever since she was a young girl but she cannot hope to have him since her father will choose her future husband - the future King.

The kingdom and Monet's life are in danger. Her father sends her into exile with the only one who he trusts to truly protect her - his First...more

Possibly my favorite book of McClures yet, what girl doen't love a good love story about a princess falling in love with a hot knight...sigh.

This started out better than I was expecting, and I got all excited to read it, but by the end of the first chapter, it was back to the usual fare. I'm not complaining, because I still read the usual fare, don't I? But by the end, I had had my mix of McClure, and I'm done now.

In this book, the scarlet Princess and the Crimson Knight share a kiss after he wins a tournament and her kiss is the prize. Then, the country goes to war, and to protect the Princess, the Knight is commissioned to marry h...more

Okay so this book is 3.5 to 4 stars due to the fact that yes the knight is very dreamy in it! Who doesn't love a good book about a dreamy super hot knight that loves passionate kissing?! haha My only complaint is that the main character cries WAY too much! I was like throw the girl a flippin' tissue already! But all in all I thought it was a cute clean romance! Also the author uses the sentence "sucking sweet nectar for her lips." a whole heap! She used that metaphor at least 10 times which made...more

This was a really good clean love story and I didn't want to put it down. There were so many typos in this book, but I still really enjoyed it.

It's about King Dacian and his beloved daughter Princess Monet (the Scarlet Princess). She dreamt of owning true love and of having a choice in choosing her husband. She had long been in love with The Crimson Knight, who is her father's first knight.

An arrogant king from another kingdom began to wage war against Karvana and it's King. Princess Monet wou...more

I rarely, if ever comment on my books, but this book requires a disclaimer. I don't want someone to see my rating of 3 stars and decide to read it based on that rating and then think less of me! This book was very poorly written with ridiculous dialogue. It was cliche and cheesy to the point of being absurd. I found myself laughing out loud at parts that were obviously not meant to be funny. But the story was cute and it was the perfect sappy love story that I needed when I was sick. So, yes I l...more

I loved this book! I love all of Marcia Lynn McClure's books, but this is definitely in my top five favorites! It's a knight and princesses and romance! Delicious! It's so romantic with tons of adventure mixed in. I loved the characters! I think they were really well developed and very fun to read about. I really couldn't put it down! I usually only read a chapter a night of books but this one I had to read 3 or more! It's too good! I loved it!

I thought this book was a big disappointment. Oh, sure, it was all oh so lyrical and dramatic. But there were quite a few things that ticked me off, and in the end I regretted having bought the book.

First of all, there is no world building. We read about kings, but nothing is said about their kindgoms or wherever it is they come from.

Then there are the protagonists. In my opinion, they just had no depth. The girl, the great princess who is nothing more than a pathetic thing, always trembling an...more

I can't decide to give this book 3 or 4 stars, so let's just say it is a 3 1/2. Anyway, I love "romantic books", but they are hard to find without all the smut. A lady (I don't know her, just saw me reading my kindle) a year and half ago told me about this author. I put a sample on my kindle and hadn't gotten around to reading it. Not wanting to pay for a book I wouldn't finish yet again, I was hesitant to read it. Well, I saw it on my kindle again and decided to give it a try. It was an easy re...more

I don't know how she does it???
I read Weathered too Young and I was among cowboys, I read The Pirate Ruse and I was among rouge scoundrels...
And now I'm among knights and princess.
Marcia just has a great ability to bring a story to life, no matter the time or place. And she can take you right where she wants you without being overly wordy and descriptive.
I REEEEAAALLLY liked this book.
By far one of my favorite Marcia books, and totally the kind of mushy princess story I love!

Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Marcia Lynn McClure grew up influenced by the reminiscent stories of rugged, rural Colorado farm life fascinatingly recounted to her by her parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts…tales of runaway buckboards, mule-drawn plows and dust pneumonia; verbalized images of stream-flooded meadows, frozen over in winter, where a child could peer through the crystal clear ic...more
