When I first signed up to review Michele Wahlder’s Alphatudes, I expected a book with few words and many pretty pictures. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised.

Alphatudes is a book that leads us through the alphabet on a journey of gratitude for the things in our lives. With every letter, we are given thoughts on the thing we are focusing on (eg. A is for Acceptance), a powerful statement to help us focus and a prayer to say or meditate on. Along with that, the book is full of beautiful artwork

I want to start out by saying this is not the typical type of book that I read, but I found it interesting.

I think first I should explain the layout of this book. Each letter has 4 pages devoted to it. The first 2 pages are consumed by a picture with the letter being represented hidden within the image. There is also a quote about the word being represented. The 3rd page is a narrative about how this word/concept can contribute to how you feel and making your life more positive. The 4th page has

I'm still not sure how I'm going to write the review for this one. It is obviously non-fiction, with the purpose to help people realize the positive things in life. I recieved this review copy from Rebecca from The Cadence Group and I'm really glad. Rebecca's mail came at a time when I was really annoyed with life in general and when I read that it was based on the alphabet I decided to read one chapter a day and let it sink. I wanted to take the most out of it, not knowing that the author sugge ...more

Alphatudes by Michelle Wahlder is a very unique book on how to create happiness in our lives and to avoid negativity and resentment. The book is set up based on the alphabet that we all learned as a child. Each letter of the alphabet is meant to teach us what to be grateful for in our lives. There is a prayer for each letter and the pictures are just beautiful. I found this book a pleasure to read and enjoyed the way it was written. I am not a fan of self-help books but this one was different fo ...more

Not only are the illustrations absolutely stunning, but it's written so beautifully and fluidly that the words become sort of an affirmation that it is possible to be grateful for everything in your life (even ex's!!!). I wish I could memorize all the little 'prayers' to remind myself everyday when I get frustrated that I have plenty of things to be grateful.

If I had to pick something I didn't like - it would be the cover. The cover does not do this book justice, especially when the illustration

A wonderful, inspiring little book. Michele Wahlder believes that gratitude is a choice. This delightful book takes the concept of using the alphabet to increase your awareness and ability to focus on those blessings in your life. Each chapter focuses on such things as joy, laughter, passion, quiet, touch and work. These alphatudes are accompanied by lovely illustrations, inspiring quotations and prayers. Reading through these alphatudes is a wonderful prelude to recognizing your own.
