What an intriguing story!

As per usual there's a phenomenal story to every book Christy Reece writes. This novel had me in an allure and turning every page. In the two previous books, I became attached to a character. McKenna Sloan aka Ghost.

If you need a good romance this is the book to choose. You can't help but to fall in love with both the main characters. You will also get your sizzling hot romance, suspence, and emotions pulled to a great ending! It was a keeper for me and a hope that the writer will keep the books coming!

One, I’m going to get a great story full of suspense or mystery, and great characters with tortured pasts and swoon worthy heroes . There are certain things I have come to expect when picking up a Christy Reece novel. One, I’m going to get a great story full of suspense or mystery, and great characters with tortured pasts and swoon worthy heroes . Reece does not disappoint, in fact this is arguably (with myself) the best installment in the series so far. Not since Eden St. Claire from Rescue Me has there been a more awesome heroine in this series.

The elusive McKenna Sloan has been hiding from her tortured past, Damon Hughes, who has been searching for her for the past eight years. Taking freelance jobs to keep her from being tied down in one place so that she can run at a moments notice McKenna has taken on some jobs from Noah McCall with the LCR. One of these jobs put her in the position to rescue Lucas Kane, a wealthy English businessman. During the rescue it seems that Lucas didn’t need her assistance much, able to handle himself unexpectedly better than that of a typical business tycoon, in fact he ends up saving her. Because of McKenna’s past she always keeps everyone at arms length, never forming relationships in fear that Damon will find her once again and cause harm to anyone she cares for. McKenna and Lucas have an instant attraction for each other, which is something novel for McKenna since all her experience with men have been horrid, starting with Damon Hughes.

After the rescue op that involved Lucas, he has been unable to get McKenna out of his mind, even sending investigators out in search of her, and finally going to Noah McCall for help in finding her, only to hit a dead end there too. After McKenna finds out he’s looking for her, she goes and finds him. She spends the day with Lucas, and finds herself falling into an easy friendship with him, another novel situation for her. Lucas treads cautiously with her, in fear she will bolt at any given moment. McKenna thinks she can walk away from Lucas and never look back, no matter how much she wants to stay, so that he will be safe from Damon. But like a moth to a flame, she can’t seem to stay away, and that can only lead to trouble in the long run. Finally McKenna says goodbye to Lucas with the promise of never returning, as she sets out on her next assignment….. Finally going after Damon Hughes.
But Lucas has plans of his own, and secrets he’s keeping from McKenna. This can only be a recipe for disaster.

I loved this book so much, it surpassed my expectations, from the story, to the kick-ass heroine, and Lucas Kane who earned his “swoon worthy” title. Reece can also write some really twisted villains, and Damon Hughes is one sick demented puppy. I have read this series slowly, and I’m glad I have because it always pulls me from my book slump. This has been a wonderful series, and I’m really looking forward to the rest. I also liked what I hope is the addition of a new character, and story for Dylan. As I’ve said before, she weaves her books, and characters together nicely. There’s usually a little history on them as you go through the series leading up to “their” book. In my opinion Reece’s writhing gets better with each book. I’m not sure I could get tired of this series, I have enjoyed coming back to it again and again.

I have been the hugest fan of LCR since I won my 1st book in one of Christy's competitions and I am a forever fan.
Out of all of the LCR books this is my favourite for 2 reasons:-

1. I absolutly love the characters, they come alive on the page and I love their chemistry and...
2. Because my name is in the back of the book - :-) Oh yeah!
This book takes pride and place on my bookshelf and NO-One is allowed to touch it! lol

Last Chance is the story of McKenna Sloan, who at the age of seventeen watched her psycho boyfriend, Damon, murder her parents and little sister, was kidnapped by aforementioned boyfriend, but made a lucky escape. The good news is that Damon was arrested and convicted of murder. The bad news is that he faked his death in a prison fire and now lives a like of wealth and crime while spending every waking moment looking for McKenna, who has been on the run since she realized he was still alive. Whew! That is some serious angsty backstory.

Now McKenna lives in a crappy Paris apartment and works as a freelance operative for Last Chance Rescue, using all of her time and effort to somehow atone for her family's death. When she meets the hero, Lucas Kane, he's the very victim she's been charged with rescuing. Over the course of the rescue some spark is ignited between them, and when he's back home in London, he can think of nothing but the woman who rescued him, the woman who called herself Ghost.

One of the most fascinating aspects of this novel was the parallels Christy Reece drew between creepy obsession and love. Both Damon and Lucas are determined to have McKenna, but there is a big difference between them and their motives and actions. Whereas Damon wants to keep McKenna to do his bidding, and to control her, Lucas wants to cherish McKenna and take care of her. Each man buys clothes for her, but while Damon wants to use the clothes to re-create the McKenna of the past, Lucas just wants her to have nice things. It's a fine line, but their motives make all the difference.

Something I've figured out about LCR books after reading a couple of them is that they are larger than life. Almost like a Harlequin Presents but mixed with romantic suspense. The lives these characters live are not easy. The heroes and heroines in these books are tortured in the most literal sense of the word. Which makes their HEA that much sweeter. Because they deserve it after what they've been through. I can't wait to read the next one. I think I'll read the next from the second trilogy while I wait for Sweet Revenge to come out. I've met enough of the regular players in this series, that I want them all to get their HEA. And isn't that what romance--even romantic suspense--is all about?

Christy Reece's "Last Chance" was filled with suspense, danger, and romance. Reece does a good job building the romantic tension between the two main characters without rushing straight into the Big L word, LOVE. The dialogue is believable, the passion is intense, and danger provides a chilling backdrop to the budding romance.

I'm beginning to hate reading Christy Reece's books, because they are costing me sleep and work - I (again) read all night and was late to work (and I had an important appointment!!!) so that I could finish. Ms. Reece has a talent for suspense and I enjoy the topic this series showcases (finding and "retreiving" lost and missing people, mostly young girls kidnapped for human traffickers and other low-life scum).

McKenna works for Last Chance Rescue and makes her living by saving lives. She has a history of disappearing and only reappear when someone is in danger. When a woman is kidnapped, McKenna decides to help.

I read a review that someone else wrote that said the last chapter of this story was unnecessary. I completely disagree. The last chapter of the book is an important part of the happy ending. McKenna went from being a sweet 16 girly girl to living in the shadows always afraid and hiding her feminity as a way to keep people from noticing her. She comes and goes when she pleases and then disappears again hence known as the Ghost.

She rescues Lucas a British billionaire or according to her, he rescues her in her attempt to rescue him and he finds her most intriguing. Pity she works for a scum bag. Not being able to forget about his rescuer he searches in vain and eventually requests the help of LCR whom he believes she works for. He doesn’t get very far as Noah is not only protective of McKenna but all LCR operatives. Noah tells Lucas that he unfortunately cannot help him. However, he does alert McKenna to the fact that Lucas Kane is searching for her as he wants to thank her.

McKenna is not one to hang around in one place for long as her past does not allow for permanent roots and she is always on the run. The day of reckoning will come though and she has geared up for it for a long time.

Lucas although highly trained himself is very protective of McKenna when she finally seeks him out and for some reason he starts breaking through her defences although she hasn’t really divulged her past to him. He has his own investigators dig into her background and eventually has some insight regarding what she’s been through. After Lucas has the information he requested (and he now feels guilty about going behind her back), McKenna finally trusts him enough to tell him about her past. He is now even more determined in sorting out her problem and rid her of the disgusting filth who has made her life a living hell. Lucas has secrets too and some he cannot share. McKenna ends up staying at Lucas' mansion for a while and starts to fall in love with him. For the first time ever she has been treated with absolute kindness regardless of her background and atrocious things she had no choice but do.

Damon, the mentally unstable piece of crap has been after her for years. She is his and nobody else can have her. He unknowingly kidnaps a woman whom he believes is McKenna but looks different and has changed her name. He soon finds out that it’s not her and puts Jamie through hell. McKenna has no choice but to rescue Jamie before it’s too late. Once again, she suffers at Damon’s hands – the very same hands that killed her parents and her little sister. She needs to kill him but cannot bring herself to do so. She needs to find out what Damon has done with Jamie. Lucas meanwhile, not knowing what LCR has planned, botches up the rescue and finally spills what he did behind her back and also admits who he worked for previously.

Last Chance has continued from the previous five in taking you on a nail biting ride but also a sweet love story. I think this is one of my favourites but will still reserve judgement until I get to the next three books in the New Year. I began this book thinking that McKenna was going to be one of those tough as nails woman, and though she is, she really has such a sweet nature and an extremely good heart. I enjoyed this character a lot. Loved it.(less)

I absolutely loved this book. Lucas was so incredibility sweet. I really liked how patient he was with McKenna to open up on her own time. And it was kinda cute that her eating like a ravenous animal turned him on.

McKenna, love the name btw, was also awesome. She has such a strong personality, its hard not to like her.

What made this story for me though was the ending. I really liked it. I'm not going to tell you about it though, 'cause I'd hate to ruin it for you. ;) This book definitely left...more

Oh...my silly love, Lucas Kane, how could Christy hold you off for so long. I guess she was saving the best for last. I have already read the last three books of the series, so it was nice to FINALLY see where Jamie Kendrick came from and to read the whole love story between McKenna and Lucas...and boy...was it a sure favorite of mine. You can't help but fall head over heels for Lucas Kane and his dreamy English accent...swoon!!

This is a need to read, especially if you have read the three "SWEET" books and were a bit in the dark about several things. I plan to go back and re-read the last three books of the series now, but I think that Lucas Kane might just be my favorite hero of the complete series. And I had been interested in finding out more about McKenna since she first showed up on the scene, and she doesn't disappoint. McKenna and Lucas share amazing chemistry, and something that so many people strive to find, true love.

Well Ms. Reece, amazing books, amazing series, and I hope that all of my Tasty Readers are planning on reading the complete series or re-reading the series, it was SOOOOOO worth all of the grueling hours of reading about sexy operatives and the women or men who love them...hee hee...tough work but someone has to do it!!

I don't know whether or not to make it a 2 or a 3. After writing it down... maybe I should make it 1.5 stars??

The romance was beyond sweet to the point it was unbelievable most of the time. She just kept showing up, he kept feeding her and getting horny watching her eat.... UGH!!!

Damian's POV... that constant flip flop back and forth did nothing for the story except set up the next. Just when you thought the main story was progressing... WHAM... back into the bad guy's part.

This is my favorite in the series so far. I like how Ms. Reece doesn't hold back on the gory details, no matter how uncomfortable it makes the reader. She has a knack for not only making me root for the good guys, but really, REALLY want to torture the bad guys. The villain in this book is truly evil.

Wow!!!! Absolutely fantastic! Last Chance was a gem of a book, one you'll reread over and over. Definitely, more than a five star rating applies to this story. It had the right mixture of everything you ever wanted in a suspense/romance. This was one helluva emotional rollercoaster ride. The story flowed and the two words I can come up with about Last Chance was "eloquently written".

this is the story that I have been waiting for, McKenna's. She has been mentioned in the last couple of books and to read her story was heartbreaking. I guess that is what is making this latest trilogy so good is to read their heartbreaking stories and their HEA. McKenna's and Lucas' story was good! Makes me wonder if I've heard the last of IDC. I'm in awe of her writing and can't wait to get to the last trilogy.

My biggest problem with this book was the villian. He was a psychopath, but a one note psychopath. You understand the villian by page 50 and therefore can predict what he's going to do. There was no suspence at all. It was also disappointing that I figured out the surprise twist at the end of the book within the first hundred pages. A boring, unmemorable read.

I love this whole series. I would highly recommend. This series is a mixture of rough type military men and women, but in the end love wins. The scenarios are believable and you find yourself pulling for the hero and heroine and sitting on the edge of you seat and turning the pages really fast to get to the next part of the story.

Damon - The most despicable evil villain. Lucan and McKenna - the sweetest couple. Found myself rushing though the book because I couldn't wait to find out what happened. The only downer is now I have to wait until August for the next book. Lucas and McKenna are definitely worth a re-read just to savor their relationship unfolding. Each of the LCR operatives has overcome adversity which makes for an exciting page turning story. Last Chance was just a WOW!!! Looking forward to reading about Honor...more

McKenna is a great character. I love any kick ass girl, but McKenna has the real vulnerable streak to her that I enjoyed all through this book. Of course Lucas was perfect for her too. This is a great series!

I'm a big fan of romantic suspense. I've gobbled up LJ, Karen Rose, Cindy Gerard, Brenda Novak and so on. Christy Reece can claim her spot with all of these authors. Great book.
