Set in the old west, this short story (about 30 pages) will appeal to the cowboy romance fans with its classic hero and cute but inept sidekick. As usual, the author has a very tongue-in-cheek sense of humor and liberally doses the writing and characters with her unusual brand of funny. While this does make for an enjoyable and quick read, ultimately nothing differentiated this story from the standard cowboy fare. A short story set in the old west -- of a cowboy and a city boy. I thought it was sweet and loveable. Gaylord (what a name!) is so adorable while Brace is the old/classic rude but kind guy.
Gaylord Quinn leaves New York and heads out west with a Patent from the government and a need to make a new life for himself. To his surprise, when he arrives and starts trying to set up his homestead he's greeted , and not in a friendly manner, by Brace Andrews. Brace tell Quinn he needs to leave as the land he's on belongs to him. What follows is a contest of wills that eventually leads to a truce and the beginnings of a friendship.

I'm a sucker for an old western! This one does not disappoint! My only complaint was that the sex scene was a bit tame...I mean that it lacked Description and therefore it felt 2D as opposed to 3D. I remember an author saying about writing sex scenes that it's not What the characters are DOING but what they are FEELING.
