This book takes the relatively straightforward idea of (re-)birth in Christ and draws comparisons to physical birth (as Jesus did with Nicodemus). In a non-repetitive way, Smallman makes many interesting points about faith, life, and conversion. He makes many interesting points about conversion in particular--for example making the point that many Christians have conversions more comparable to the 12 disciples than Paul the apostle.

Smallman makes helpful observations in understanding what conversion and spiritual birth are. He makes a helpful analogy to physical pregnancy, birth, and growth. At times, the writing isn't particularly gripping, but it's clear and I would recommend to Christian parents, especially.

I read this in the spring of my junior year in college, and it was very helpful to me in gaining some biblical perspective on the experience of Christian conversion.
