Although Chinese culture is as far from my preferences as possible, I found the story itself very loveable. It shows that no matter what your nationality is you can live in a totally different culture if you love and are loved there.
The first half of the book deals with the love story of the heroine, Moonpearl who is married to a half-Chinese, half-English man unwillingly. But of course they fell in love with each other after a while and start to have a happy relationship when the politics inter
