This is a collection of five books. An interesting take on the superhero genre. Heroes and 4400 both borrowed significantly from these books. The art is rather inconsistent at times and the writing can occasionally seem forced. Overall though it is an original take on the superhero genre with some pretty good ideas. The last three books (bright, voices of the dead, and untouchable)were written by Fiona Avery rather than Straczjynski, and serve to build some character development but are not as ...more
This is one of the coolest superhero comics I have read. It is a very powerful look into the what if people got powers all of a sudden. How would we react, how would they react. What could/would they do for us as a people. This story makes me realize why hollywood is relaying on the comic industry for its stories. This is a great story that could easily be made into a movie/series.
Stopped reading after the JMS sections were finished
Kind of fun in the what's-gonna-happen-next sense, not so much in the how-can-the-superhero-POSSIBLY-still-be-interesting-after-all-these-years sense. I enjoyed the touches from JMS's B5 days (grouchy Russians, micro-telekinesis, preaching).
Only read the main Straczynski story. Decent!
Amazing story - Incredible work.
Terrible Binding - the publisher's binding is absolute crap.
Terrible Binding - the publisher's binding is absolute crap.
It's compelling at times, but there are enough cliches to make it pretty tiresome. Still not a terrible way to spend the blacked out hours after a tornado bitch-slaps your town.

Recommends it for:
people who love the show Heroes.
this might ruin plot lines for people who like the television show Heroes.
This story of 100 plus children gaining super powers and growing into adulthood with varying personalities is very exciting! Filled with surprises, betrayals and gripping storytelling, anyone who loved Stand By Me, Sleepers or the X-Men will love this story about people who just happen to have powers!
