I have been a friend of Mahala's since 1981, when I chose her beautiful pottery over porcelain. With a wedding coming up..I couldn't imagine having anything but Ms. Bishop's table ware!. We visited New York City together one time, both of us old friends of Manhattan. Took a ladies' overnight with other friends to Martha's Vineyard and stayed in her family summer home there. When Mahala Bishop is afflicted with bi-polar disorder, she is an accomplished woman in her 50's. This anomaly in timing (those so beset are usually decades younger) makes her reversal of personality all that more alarming to those she's closest to.
