Gorgeous art from the classic Disney film and simple text retell the exciting story of Belle, whose beauty and kindness transform a horrible Beast into a handsome prince. This small, sturdy board book is perfect for introducing babies and toddlers to the magical world of Disney.

Love the movie, hate, hate, HATE the marketing. The moral, which could not be presented more clearly, is that true beauty comes from within. Belle, the heroine of the story, is an intelligent and sensible girl who's usually got her nose in a book. Throughout virtually the whole film she wears this practical blue dress:

But in 95% of the merchandise - dolls, posters, lunch-boxes etc - she is depicted wearing her admittedly tasteful but rather surprisingly revealing yellow ...more

Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite fairy tales. This book is an abbreviated version of the movie and I thought it was done well. The entire story was captured in a short period of time with short pages and beautiful pictures to help children read the story and stay engaged. The story could be used for a fun read aloud, for a class library or for a variety of introductions to a lesson. One lesson that it could be used for is introducing titles or chapters. This is a great magic folktale. There are always new surprising things going on in the story to keep children engaged. The pictures are great—as all Disney pictures are. The pictures use vibrant colors that really attract the eye. They are very defined lines but not a lot of texture. The pictures really set the level of emotion and feeling as students can see the mood and emotions of the characters. I would use this book to teach children to love everyone for who they are on the inside rather th...more

Beauty and the Beast is definitely considered a classic in my family. I remember the story from when I was younger and I love reading it to my daughter now.
Julia loves the story as much as I do and it's by far one of her favorites. I also like how close to the movie the story is- I think kids are much more inclined to like a book like this.

My mom got me this book when I was a little girl. She also got me a Beauty and the Beast sleeping bag and tent. I loved Beauty and the Beast because Bell read books and I felt like she was much more interesting than the other disney girls.

I must say that I think Beauty and the Beast is one of the best Disney stories. I love how Belle is able to look beyond the physical appearance of the Beast.

Fun story. Each page has a section that 'turns' so you can see how the characters looked before the spell was cast over the castle.
