Oh, we should have listened to John Talbott... Talbott was the one, who in 2003 foretold the coming economic collapse in the real estate market with his book "The Coming Crash in the Housing Market: 10 Things You Can Do Now to Protect Your Most Valuable Investment." Trouble was, as housing prices continued their meteoric rise, nobody listened.

This is a pretty good book. Talbott is a professed capitalist but argues that the system we now live in is not a capitalist system and that there are so many flaws in the way things are run that a quick recovery is not on the books. I tend to agree. Much of what has been done is a band-aid fix, and we are setting ourselves up for an even bigger fall. John Talbott is an economic consultant who has authored academic papers on economic growth and development and made presentations on the subject to the governments of Russia, Jordan, and Qatar. A visiting scholar at the Anderson School at UCLA, Talbott is also a former vice president in the investment banking division of Goldman, Sachs, and Company.
