I really wanted this book to be better, because I'm going to volunteer in Dharamsala and wanted to know about it from the volunteer perspective. the author does have interesting things to say, not just about Tibetan culture but also the specific community in McLeod-Ganj and the experience of being a Western volunteer among them, but the majority of the text is descriptions of the various ailments his patients have, mostly TB.
