This is a wonderful book -- and great introduction -- to anyone interested in a more holistic way to take care of the body. Most of the recipes require some investment -- the herbs in the recipes are medicinal and not often found in the average grocery store. The effort, however, is worth it: this is a go-to book in our house for everything from summer drinks to winter tinctures to stave off colds.
some of them are way out there....how does one even get the needed items? mail order, mostly
I think I got this book out of the trash. I know I didn't buy it new.
Anyway, I went through it and marked a lot or recipes that I wanted to try (ginger-chamomile delight, sweet sesame-flax sprinkle, power surge female toner, autumn tonic tea), but the only thing I ever actually prepared was the garlic-herb better butter (which was very delicious). The problem is that the recipes call for ingredients that I don't tend to have around the house and don't think to buy when I am out at ...more
