The book is packed with beautiful photos. It does make a better browsing book than a reading book. I bogged down in details about yet another patron's credentials, and some of the paragraphs seemed loosely held together. Still I kept reading because much research had clearly gone into the book; evocative excerpts from Farrand's writings, glimpses of interesting personalities, and interesting information on garden design kept surfacing.
