Miranda Carson goes to England to find out who her father is and only has a few clues to go on. When she happens into a Tea Cosy she is wisked into the lives of the Whitcombe's and finding everyone so lovely and nice to a complete stranger. When she finds out who her father is, she is not sure if she wants to tell anyone because it could be hurtful. Will Miranda face the facts and let her heart lead?

This was a very beautifully written book. It was a little slow in spots that's the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5, otherwise it was great.
My favorite thing about this book were the descriptions. The Author had an excellent way of really setting the scene or (painting a picture) as I like to say. For that reason alone I loved this book.

If you’re looking for a Christmas story for this time of year, look no further. I didn’t look further than my mom’s bookshelf where this little gem was hiding. As I mentioned before, my mom loves a good Christmas story and some can still be found around her home. In my efforts to continue with shorter books to reach this year’s 52-book challenge, Finding Father Christmas struck my fancy immediately.

Miranda heads to London on Christmas eve following the only clue she has to try to find her father ... the name of a photography studio. She doesn't know who her father is, doesn't even know his name. She was raised by her single mother "Eve Carson the actress" and then by a family friend after her mother dies when she is only 11. The photography studio is long gone, its place now occupied by a tea shop, "The Tea Cosy". Little does she know, when she ducks inside to ask f

I loved this little gem. Miranda Carson grew up with her nomadic actress mother and only one clue to her father's identity: a photograph with the name and location of the photography studio on the back of it.
As an adult, she takes a spontaneous trip to England to try and locate any information she can about her father. She ends up in a picturesque English village, complete with Charles Dickens and Father Christmas, on Christmas Eve. The photography studio is long gone, but in it's s More...

Quick read for a very blizzardy afternoon. This was your basic sweet story from Ms. Gunn, her usual romantic tale based in a small town, this time in England. Miranda goes in search of the father she's never met, armed with only a few clues -- of course, this is plenty to get the job done. The ending leaves you quickly, waiting for the next one to see what really happens.
Plenty of snow, evergreens, a local production of Dickens -- I was pleasantly surprised that Gunn's offering did not include t More...

I love to make Christmas cookies. I pull out Mom's recipies and some I've grown to love over the years. They are sweet, yummy, and who cares if they aren't nutritious? I just read two books by Robin Jones Gunn that remind me of Christmas cookies. Finding Father Christmas and Engaging Father Christmas are both about Miranda Carlson, the daughter of an actress who is a single mother. The clues her mother left her led her to England one Christmas on a search for her father. I won't tell whether she

Miranda Carson arrives in England in search of the father she never knew. The only clue she had was an old photo she found in her mother's belongings that showed "Father Christmas" with a boy on his lap sobbing.
Miranda does come into the family that also has the same portrait on their wall in their home. She doesn't know whether to talk to the family about what she thinks. Maybe "Father Christmas" is her father. Should she reveal who she is and what she knows? More...

A very touching novella. I will admit it has a little too much Christian dialogue near the end, at least for my tastes. The story represents human desire to love and be loved; to know who we are and to whom we belong. A lovely Christmas read and definitely added to my Christmas spirit this year.

This was a nice, cup of cocoa kind of read. While it had some poignant and soul-searching moments, I didn't find it very deep or compelling. But then again, I'm not much of a warm fuzzy Christmas story kind of book reader, either. So there was not enough conflict to make my heart respond. But it was a nice story and I want to read the next book in the series. I want to know what will happen to Miranda's love life since this story had no romance in it at all. Maybe if the book had been longer tha

Twenty-nine year old Miranda went to England in search of the father she never knew. She finds so much more than she was looking for! I loved the spiritual aspect of this story. Now I'm trying to decide whether to read the sequel to this now, or save it for next year's Christmas season.

When I finished this, I see there is a sequel coming out in 2008. So frustrating not to get to finish the book now. Girl mother is actress. She dies. The girl goes in search of her father and find the family. Good.

This was a really fun story to read at Christmas time. It really put me in the spirit of Christmas. It kept my attention, so I had no problem finishing it before Christmas!

This book started out strange, but it got better. It talked about poety which I loved, it talked about linus doing the Christmas story, which I loved. So it got a whole lot better at the end.

Great Christmas read. I very much enjoyed this one. I do wish the story went on though because I want to know more of what went on. It ended quite well though.

I can't help myself...I love Christmas stories and this is a wonderful one! It doesn't hurt that it's set in England either!

I have read the second book in this series, and have been looking for the first one for a couple of years. Very cute story:)

Picked up the book at the library and read it while home on Christmas break. Good Christmas story that tugs at your heart.

Maybe 2.5 stars?? Was an easy, uplifting read. Nothing life changing, but sweet.

Wow, that was actually really quite good. A little improbable perhaps, but well written. This is Christian lit, for those who aren't familiar, and it's actually quite natural. I'm thinking I'll look for the sequel.

A pleasant, Christ-based Christmas story. Short and easy, good for the spirit.

Such a good book! It's a feel good christmas themed book about a woman on the search for the father she never new. Her search takes her to England and she ends up spending Christmas with a family she never new she had, but always hoped for.
