This is a delightful telling of the author and his family's visit to his Uncle Andy's (Andy Warhol) in NYC. It's fun to see the famous artist normalized by his interactions with his junkyard-owning Pittsburgh relatives. James Warhola, incidentally, grew up to be a well-known children's book illustrator with a comparatively conventional life.
Andy Warhol as seen through the eyes of his young nephew Jamie. Found myself counting children and cats in each picture. Love the detailed illustrations. Fun details about the famous uncle's life, too (love the wigs...).
A very fun take on a familial bond with a famous relative. I love the sense of fun and mischief Mr. Warhola brings to tles of his Uncle Andy. visual juxtapositions are a joy.
A great memory of visiting the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. The art is great, but the junk collecting dad is also a favorite part.
