Decidedly meh. I really disliked the first story - felt like she butchered a novel length story to fit into the anthology, and it read more like a contemporary than a historical. Just with more dresses. The second story, by Elizabeth Lane, was really good, but not at all "heartwarming" as advertised. I suspect I would have liked it a lot if the first story had been a better lead in, but as was, it was well done but not what I wanted. The third I could not take seriously, as it featured Mikolas a ...more

The Homecoming by Elizabeth Lane is a heartrending tale of a rancher who was sent to prison in his brother;s place and the hardships his family endured during that time. It is a tale of the power of forgiveness for the rancher and his wife and child. Also his brother.

I thought the three stories were interesting and compelling. However, the third one was a little too chaste for my liking; they only made as far as kissing. I did like the fact that the women in these three stories were fairly strong and resourceful while the stories were set in the late 1800s. The first woman owned her own bakery in Texas. The second woman had to survive a three year spell of poverty in Kansas with her young son after she survived a stillborn delivery. The third woman ran away ...more

First story was okay, but a bit rushed due to the page restriction. The second story was the best one in the book. The third story was obviously a sequel, so I felt rather lost, and couldn't be bothered to finish it.

One of the saddest, as in makes you weep, Christmas anthologies ever. Heroes encountering tough circumstances, esp. The Homecoming, so tough in fact it was a relief to find the joy in Christmas in these stories.

I liked all three stories in this one. Kind of wish they were each their own book so they could have been explored more.
