Pseudonymous Bosch is the New York TImes bestselling author of the Secret Series. The Secret Series is a series of 5 books based on the adventures of Cass and Max-Ernest, two kids trying to keep the “secret” out of the hands of the evil Midnight Sun.

This Book is Not Good for You, Pseudonymous Bosch

This Book is Not Good for You is the third puzzle-filled book in The Secret Series, in which Cass and Max-Ernest, two brave 11-year olds, set out to fulfill some very perplexing—and dangerous—missions.

What’s the ‘secret’ this time? I’m not allowed to tell, but it has to do with the most delicious chocolate in the entire world. And it gets better from there. Once her suspicions are aroused, Cass discovers the dastardly Ms. Mauvais is masquerading a...more

The Pseudonymous Bosch books are somewhat, but not hugely, popular in my school library. I borrowed the 3rd book and read it on my Kindle, to see what the book is about and who I want to recommend it to.

Cass, a girl who is a member of the Terces Society, tries to unravel some of her personal mysteries. After her mom is kidnapped, she and her friends are forced to fight the evil Midnight Sun organization. Bosch masterfully wraps up the kidnapping mystery, moves the series plot forward, and leaves...more

Book Hoarder here. So now were in for the 3rd review of the Secret Series. Now that I am in the middle of the story I can confidently say that my money is wasted in buying this book series. Remember when J.K. Rowling published Goblet of Fire and everyone considers it a turning point of the story. Turning point because the story entered a darker atmosphere and theme by the end of the book. Well I think this Book 3 is also a turning point in the story in some ways. T...more

Cass and Max-Ernest from The Name of This Book is Secret are back in another sense-filled adventure as members of the secret Terces Society. Cass and Max-Ernest have been inducted into the Society as agents keeping the world safe from the evil Midnight Sun, people who will stop at nothing (even murder!) to carry out their plans to live forever. Their previous adventures involved the senses of smell and sound. This time around, it’s taste, and what tastes better than chocolate? Nothing!

Cass’s mom...more

This Book Is Not Good for You is the third book in the series, and I was looking forward to it because it's about taste, primarily chocolate! There were a few parts that dragged a bit, but again, it was still an entertaining story.

Cass is trying to bond with her mom by taking a cooking class by a blind chef, Senor Hugo. He invites her and her mother to his restaurant, where diners eat in the dark and are served by blind waiters. There he kidnaps her mom as collateral for Cass to retreat the Tuni...more

Once again the Secret Series did not fail to deliver. This book was a great read. Pseudonymous Bosch has a funny way of placing chapters out of order. The first chapter is actually chapter fifteen (I think.) This is interesting because it is like watching one of those movies where they start out with the climax and you get really intrigued, but then it goes back to the beginning and explains how they got to that climactic moment.

Anyhow, in this book Cassandra's mother is kidnapped and Cass, Max...more

Well, I’ve done what I recommend students not do: begin a series with a book other than #1. I have not read the first two books, but I picked up this one because it was the most recent…and—ok-- I really didn’t realize it was a series. So, starting off with that deficiency, I still had no difficulty getting into the book. The Midnight Sun, the enemy, is trying to figure out a Secret that the Terces Society is trying to prevent them from getting. Cassandra is at the center of the Secret, but she...more

Just because I am so incredibly intelligent by grabbing the first book from The Secret Series without checking the title, I ended up reading the third book instead of the second. Thus, some things were spoiled for me, but somehow, I do not even mind. I suppose I wanted to know what happened so much that it was oddly satisfying to find out ahead of time.

This Book is Not Good For You starts out with our main protagonist, Cass, and the revelation that her mother is not her actually Mom, and that s...more

I've always thought chocolate was the most delicious thing ever created on Earth. While reading this book, my taste buds were striving for the sweetest chocolate! But, I wouldn't have wanted the chocolate that was created in this book. Apparently, the chocolate made in this book made you pass out and do weird things that normally you wouldn't do. But a simple elixir the taste of vanilla (opposite of chocolate) created with a powerful object (that can make any taste you desire) can snap you out o...more

This book to me is really one of a kind. I remeber reading one of his books about a year ago. It's addicting and ive been waiting for more of his series to come out ever since. It takes about a year for one of his books to come out so yea...
This genre most likely fit in to adventure and mystery. i usually dont like adventurous books but the way the author write this book using humor, pictures really caught my attention alot.

The book I am going to tell you about is called "This Book Is Not Good For You!" It is by Pseudonymous Bosch. This book is about a girl named
Cassandra, a boy named Max-Ernest,and a boy named Yo-Yoji. Between those strange names are adventure. They are on a mission from the Tecres Society which means the Secret Society if you say Tecres the opposite. Ooooops!!! I just spilled a secret from the book that you must enjoy! The mission is to stop the midnight sun from getting the tuning fork which ca...more

For my lit circle I read a book called, “If your reading this it’s too late”. It is about a girl named Cass who loses her mom when she is kidnapped. So then her and her friends go on an adventure to find Cass’s mom and the legendary tuning fork. I think that the best compelling literary element is characters. I think this because all of the characters in the book have a special thing that makes them unique. I think that all the illustrations in the book were good because they really stood out. A...more

This is such a great book!!! You never know what is going to happen next so it makes you want to just keep reading! But the ending sucks! They don't tell you the answer to the big problem, they leave you hanging but that was the last book in that series!!!

Following Cass and Max-Ernest is not always easy, especially when they're chasing the Midnight Sun. This time, Cass's foster mother, Mel, as Cass likes to call her now, has been kidnapped by the evil ancient alchemists-the Midnight Sun. She hopes to find her mother with the help of her best friends Cass and Yo-Yoji. This journey however takes them as far as the zoo, in an unknown area, due to the secrecy of the author, Pseudonymous Bosch. I think now, you can guess what happenes there. With the...more

I'm not really sure how a person could possibly not love this book. For one, it's about secret spy kids. For another, it's awesome and hilarious. And finally (as if that weren't enough), it's about chocolate. Need I say more?

I also would like to add that I am pretty sure Pseudonymous Bosch and I are soul mates. It seems from reading this book that his love of dark chocolate is nearly as passionate as mine (from Q&A in the book's appendix: "Q: What is dark chocolate?" "A: Heaven on Earth."),...more

This book is precisely about what it looks like it's about: chocolate.
Cass, Max-Earnest and Yo-Yoji are back fighting the Midnight Sun in yet another ridiculous attempt to obtain The Secret. This time, Dr. L and Miss Mauvais are using chocolate to try and steal The Secret. But not any ordinary chocolate- time travel chocolate. Yes, you read that right.
The trio are assigned to try and figure out the mystery of this Tuning Fork that helps create this magical time travel chocolate, and of course th...more

"This book is not good for you" is the continuation of the book "If you're reading this, it's too late". After the homuculus incident, Cass and her friends are back on another adventure. Yo-Yoji, Max-Ernest and Cass decided to visit Pietro and they learn about the tuning fork, a magical device that can turn anything into any taste you wish for. After that visit, Cass and her mother decided to go to a cooking class and they meet Senor Hugo, the teacher. There, Cass accidently reveals the tuning...more

Is it just me or did I really taste a bit of dark chocolate?

This book is just very wow. The whole books in the Secret series are, actually! Very unexpected events...wow, I am very hooked. To be honest, when I read the pages of the first book, I didn't really find it entertaining. It was quite annoying because the characters' real names must be in secret and everything. But eventually, after a few chapters, I found it really good and entertaining. And guess what? Just like after eating down a wh...more

This Book Is Not Good for You by Pseudonymous Bosch is a great book in my favorite series of books. I think readers who enjoy mysteries and fantasy will enjoy this book very much. Cass and Max-Ernest, the main characters, get caught up in more trouble with Ms. Mauvais and Dr. L. We find out information about Max-Ernest that he doesn’t even know about himself! He finds a very important discovery about his relationship with chocolate when he takes his first bite. Max-Ernest is highly allergic to c...more

In this third installment, Pseudonymous Bosch takes the reader even deeper into the mystery surrounding Cass and the sinister Midnight Sun organization. Led by the evil Ms. Mauvais, the Midnight Sun is on a quest to find the ancient Aztec turning fork, a fork that can change the taste of food into anything the eater (or his or her ancestors) has consumed in the past. With Cass' mother held hostage by a villainous chef and the Terces society scouring Africa for hidden cacao tree orchards, the sto...more

Once again, Pseudonymous Bosch did an amazing job!!! Fro the very beginning of the story I was hooked on and from that point on, it was a WILD ride! First of all, the things I love the most about the Secret Series is the fact that the books aare written in a very interactive manner. The author speeks directly to YOU, he tells YOU what to do. That makes reading the books a really fun and exciting experience, because it almost feels like your apart of the story, like the whole thing is real. I al...more

I liked the third Pseudonymous Bosch book better than the second one and not as much as the first one--so goin gin the right direction, at least. THis book adds a third character, and that is a good addition. He adds another dimension to the group, and has additional skills. Cass' mom becomes inevitably wrapped up in the story this time, and we learn a little bit more of the underlying story as well, so good as a series goes to have some gradual coming to light of the theme--not always the case...more

The third in a series I've been reading to the boys for bedtime, Trevor gave it 3.5 stars and Warren gave it 3. I enjoyed the supertaster aspect of this one, as well as the part that chocolate played. At the same time, Cass' whining and woe-is-me attitude bugged me, but she seemed to mature over the course of the book, and stopped being an irritation. What makes all of these titles for me, and enables me to read them one after the other (with no break!) out loud to the boys is the author's conti...more

This Book is Not Good For You is the third book of the “The Secret Series” series. This book was just as good as the last book, but there were a few new character I didn't read about before because I didn't read the second book. A new character I've read about was called “Yoji”. Yoji is Japanese and in the book he is Cass’s friend. In this book Cass’s mother, Melanie, is captured by a chief called Senor Hugo. Cass and her two best friends, Yoji, and Max-Ernest needs to find Senor Hugo’s hiding p...more

So I picked this book up because it looked fun, and halfway through I realize it is book 3 of a series. I was convinced Lemony Snicket had created another pseudonym to write this series, but wikipedia (which is never wrong) says it is someone else. But the book is laced with the same ridiculous hilarity that I enjoy for a while before it gets old. Also, since it is about quirky, gifted, unlikely friends who solve mysteries and battle evil while belonging to a secret society, I thought it was a r...more

I read ''This Book Is Not Good For You'' written by Pseudonymous Bosch. Once again, the author comes up with a sequel better than the rest of the series! Cass, Max-Ernest, and Yo-Yoji face the evil group called the Midnight Sun with a powerful legend of the tuning fork. One that will turn any ordinary-or-not substance into the most addicting and delicious delectable you can imagine! The leader, Mrs. Muavis, and her two assistants create the darkest chocolate of the darkest chocolates invented!...more

Pseudonymous Bosch is the anonymous pseudonymous author of the Secret Series. Not much is known about him other than that he has a passionate love of chocolate and cheese and an equally passionate hatred of mayonnaise. Rumors of Boschian sightings are just as frequent and about as reliable as reports of alien abductions. If you ever meet anyone claiming to be Pseudonymous himself he is almost cert...more

“You know, people always warn children about taking candy from strange adults. But they never warn us adults about taking candy from strange children.
All those sweet-looking kids who sell boxes of candy bars on the street to help pay for schooling - how do we know what's in those bars? And don't even get me stated on that nefarious institution designed to lure unsuspecting customers into buying mysterious frosted goodies: the bake sale.
Adults, be warned: if a child wanted to poison you it would be a piece of cake! Literally a piece of cake.”
