OK,here is . . . if you read the finale I don't know that your life will be any better for it. If you skip it, I am sure you won't walk around with a hole in your soul. The first 4 books were so dark and complex, I was hoping the final would bring everything together including our star crossed lvoers. Ever since I read Wicked two years ago, I've been a fan of this series. It may not be every one's cup of tea, and the magic in these books are nothing like Harry Potter, quiet the opposite in fact, filled with darkness and evil, and you never quiet know which side everyone is on....But that's one of the things I enjoy so much about this series.

And Wicked: Resurrection was anything but a disappoint, a fitting conclusion to the series. It may not be every one's cup of tea, and the magic in these books are nothing like Harry Potter, quiet the opposite in fact, filled with darkness and evil, and you never quiet know which side everyone is on....But that's one of the things I enjoy so much about this series.

And Wicked: Resurrection was anything but a disappoint, a fitting conclusion to the series. After having the last two books leaving you hanging, wanting more, Holder and Viguie finally managed to wrap it all up nicely, leaving the reader satisfied. It may not have the traditional HEA (happily ever after), but this HEA matches the story and characters, and that's all that really matters, right?

I don't wish to give out any spoilers, from any of the three books, so I won't go into deep details. However, I will say that Resurrection manages to keep you guessing until the very end, throwing out new twists and characters just when you think you've managed to figure it all out.

Darkness and corruption is zeroing in on Amanda, Nicole and Holly, but with the right knowledge and by working together, only they (and Owen) can turn back the malicious Merlin from destroying the world and killing them. Yes, it may sound like 'just another save-the-world' kind of book, but if you read the series, starting with book one (very important for understanding and enjoying the series completely!), you'll soon find out that it's nothing like what you'd expect.

And to top it all off, besides the demons and magic and darkness, oh my!, Wicked: Resurrection has a nice dose of romance in it as well, between three separate couples. They may not have the perfect connection, and they all go through some really hard times, what with having ghosts from the past possess them and what not, but in the end, they stay together. And to me, that's what makes a romance more believable-- face it, none of us will ever have a relationship that doesn't have a few problems along the way, speed bumps that make us wonder 'Is it even worth it?'. But in the end, if you can survive the trip, the conclusion is well worth it.

4.5 STARS! Wicked: Resurrection is a stunning finale to a delicious fantasy series. I'll definitely be recommending this to friends and family, and anyone else whom I think would enjoy the darker elements in the book.

Ok, totally completely freaking loved this series and hate, hate, HATE that it's over. I'm extremely happy that it looks like Eli and Nicole are going to get back together. I always liked him best for her even when he was being evil. And may I say Thank friggin' God that Jer stopped being a total pussy and finally admitted him and Holly were mean't to be together. Just as Legacy and Spellbound built on the world of Witch and Curse, Resurrection builds on the story set up by the previous novels, finishing it off with a bang. I've often read series before where I felt dissatisfied with the ending for various reasons, or kept wanting to know what happened afterwards. This didn't happen with Resurrection - I felt everything was all tied up and I knew that my time of reading about the Cahor and Deveraux families and allies was done. And that was okay. I am sort of struggling to come up with a better way to describe how I am feeling about it - I am definitely satisfied, and my questions were answered in ways I felt fit the story and everything else that had happened, so I do not need to know more.

In my review for Legacy and Spellbound I made reference to a twist towards the end, a twist that some readers might like, while for others it'd be otherwise. As I expected, this twist was a very, very big thing in this book and I was concerned that the effects of such a twist might result in a story/writing fumble. Given my experience with my trepidation about the character of Richard, and how I was happily proved wrong about him being left behind, you'd think I would have known better. But no, Holder and Viguié manage it deftly, weaving it in slowly and then more surely, and providing explanations, conflicts and depth that I didn't even think of.

But what I really have loved about this series was the characters, especially the ones originally cast as secondary ones. Over the books the story has moved away from its initial focus around two characters and into a grand saga with a wide and interesting cast. And while that initial focus and story is still there at its heart, there were so many other characters and couples providing other parts to this story as vital as any other major organ in a body. Wicked as a whole was full of characters I met, felt happiness and sorrow with, raged with and against, and even grieved for. One character in particular I felt for - I was horrified by what had happened to her, and felt sorry for everything that happened to her and continued to happen to her. Would you believe that this character (whom I won't name or reveal anything about her fate for spoilers) was one that, at the beginning, I did not like at all? And yet she became one of the characters I liked the most and felt the most for.

I got a little teary at the ending of Resurrection, so hopefully the authors take it as a compliment while readers take it as a sign of how much I enjoyed this book and this series. This was definitely one of my favourite series this year, and I am thankful to Nancy Holder for giving me the opportunity to read and review this series (and others).

And with that I shall leave you with a version of Scarborough Fair, as performed by the band Leaves' Eyes. You'll understand why if/when you read Resurrection, but I do have to say I liked that bit. It was a very nice surprise and pleasant tie-in - I've been singing it all afternoon since I finished Resurrection. :)(less)

I thought this book was a little better than the others in the series. It wasn't as boring, and it has some really good elements. There are some nice twists I didn't see coming, but also some you guess right away.

The ending was in my opinion too rushed - like the author just wanted to get it over with - SLAM! That irritated me a bit, but others will like it I believe.

I was greatly disappointed by this last book. Ever since I discovered this series a few years back before the reprint, I've been waiting for the fifth book to come out. But they way the book was written I almost wish I was still waiting. The series is kind of like bubble gum pop for books, but the first four books were interesting and kept you hanging on. This book was awful and I was pretty relieved to have finished it, bringing to an end the 1000 page + saga.

I have said before that the previous books were badly written, and that some of the plot points were pretty confusing. In this book they throw time travel and teleportation into the mix and it's just impossible to follow in many places. It's been very badly edited and since this book is mainly action that's a big problem.

Resurrection was a satisfying ending to the Wicked series. At the end of the last novel Spellbound, I was left breathless, and shocked, at the cliffhanger. So I was even more surprised when the cliffhanger wasn't even acknowledged until about 90 pages in, and even then, the same character was still the only one with that knowledge.

Resurrection was a satisfying ending to the Wicked series. At the end of the last novel Spellbound, I was left breathless, and shocked, at the cliffhanger. So I was even more surprised when the cliffhanger wasn't even acknowledged until about 90 pages in, and even then, the same character was still the only one with that knowledge.

More surprises fill the pages, as well as prophecies regarding the Cather's girls that seem to be eerily true. It's difficult for me to talk about one of my favorite eerie parts, without making this a spoiler filled review, but one of the newest characters was definitely creepy.

The characters were fun to read about still, and I found many of them more likable. I really enjoyed Amanda's discoveries in the novel, regarding Merlin's prophecies. Richard completely kicks butt in this book, as usual, and even gets a little something back to help him get over the past. I was surprised to find myself favoring Amanda over Nicole, because Nicole was my favorite character in the past books.

It was nice to see the characters all finally deal with issues they've avoided and ran away from.

Highlights: I was just continually shocked as the pages turned. It seemed like there was so much to the story that had never really been revealed. It seemed like this novel was easier to read, maybe because I finally got used to all the POV changes.

Lowlights: The ending fight scene was a little disappointing at how quickly and easily it ended. I also disliked how many times characters seemed to die (and some would be resurrected). It was also a bit odd how many of the characters were reincarnations of ancestors. I also felt like a few things about some characters were not clearly wrapped up.

As a whole, Resurrection was one of the easiest to understand. My favorite still remains to be Spellbound, but Resurrection was a good follow up and a great ending to an interesting series.(less)

Possibly the worst conclusion to a series I've ever read... far worse even than Mockingjay. Half the characters that died get resurrected. Half the important characters that lived get killed off without a thought. The authors seem to have run out of ways to impress us and make things on an ever-bigger scale, so this somehow transforms into a battle against the gods themselves. Holly Cather's is our leading lassie! She didn't know she was a witch - let a lone one of the potentially most powerful ever. Naive to begin with.. Holly slowly evolves into a force to be reckoned with - but as I said above....it comes at a price. Thrust into the top position within the coven Holly doesn't get a users manual or workplace practice guide - she has to think quick on the spot and after a few pleads with the almighty Goddess....she realises that each time she receives assistance to save the lives of her coven members.....she loses a part of her soul.....or a loved one. To top it off, poor Holly is the vessel that her long deadish ancestor Isabeau shows up in.

Jer (Jeraud) Deveraux.....Holly's possible love interest. He's from the opposing family and he's a warlock. Jer has a connection with Holly from the minute they meet. His family have been waring with Holly's family (originally known as the Cahors) for generations. An accident happens in the series (ok one of many!!) and regardless of it's outcome - I still see him as hotly handsome. He's a bad, bad boy and has the added affliction of being the Deveraux that his ancestor Jean channels through.

Within the story of Jer and Holly also resides the recurring story of the tortured love between Jean de Deveraux and Isabeau Cahors which started centuries ago. They vowed on their own deaths to kill the other so they may be free. They burden Jer and Holly with this continuing saga - they love each other and hate each other at the same time - their desire to fulfill their own dying wish becomes so overpowering that Jer and Holly must fight through Jean and Isabeau to find their own feelings.

Amanda and Nicole Anderson are Holly's cousins that she is to live with upon the death of her parents. They are twins with a difference. One the popular rebel and the other fairly straight-laced and average. They have a dislike and love for each other which is tested over the series time and again. In the beginning they are also not fully aware of the witching abilities.

Eli Deveraux = BAD BAD BAD BAD right to down to the core..... he's the creation of his ultra evil father Michael Deveraux. Together they are hell bent on extinguishing the Cahors Witches (Holly, Amanda and Nicole). Eli will surprise you - and his evilness will not dissappoint at times either. He is Nicole Anderson's rebel boyfriend (the one to annoy the parents with!). Micheal is just so evil words fail me to describe how utterly horrible a being he is. He will stop at NOTHING to kill Holly.

There are so many characters within the 5 books - all of which play pivotal roles......you don't often find minor characters being so prominent within a story that they just about become lead characters in their own right.

I had an awesome action packed, dark magic ride with The Wicked Series. The fight between good and evil is certainly not what it is always depicted in most novels and Nancy and Debbie have given us a roller coaster series filled with despair, grief, joy, happiness, suspense, action and shock!!!(less)

Okay, first impression(s) as I latterly just finished this book a minute ago. I was surprised about all that was happening in this book. It seemed a bit chaotic near the end. I got lost in what was happening to be honest.

I read the entire Wicked series this month, so I feel bad for the fans that read books 1-4 and then had to wait six years for this, the final book. While I overall found the series enjoyable, I didn't care as much for the Christian-bent of this final book. I read the first four books in this series and just thought they were okay. I tend to be pretty easygoing and not easily disappointed with a series, so when I finally got to read the last book I was very disappointed to feel unfulfilled with the last part of the story and the ending. It seemed to me like the authors just pulled the ending out of their rear-ends and prayed it would work and be enough to satisfy the readers. Clearly it didn't satisfy me. Well if you've made it this far without quiting, then you deserve to read this final installment and finish the series. I'm not saying you'll enjoy it, but at least it's finally over and there's some closure. Not as many editing issues thank god, so that made it a little better. I enjoyed the wicked series so much.
It was so magical and a change from reading about vampires....
Its a must read and once you start it you cant put it down.
I loved the way each character had a chance to express themselves and it was well explained as in what was happening with them in the story, and this time the main character wasnt seen as the good guy/girl. In the end love, good and evil rules the world!!!!!

I liked the entire Wicked series up until this last book. I thought that it focused to much on the smaller characters, taking away focus from the main, and in my opinion more interesting, story line. I read all the Wicked books again before I read this one. All the books do is go from one catastrophe to another. "Oh we must fight the evil Deveraux family," "Oh I must defeat the Cahors witches." Back and forth, back and forth. Boring. So sorry I wasted my time reading all 5 books.

This book was okay. I am glad I finished it.
Jer was an okay character and so was Holly with Amanda. But I found myself more interested in Nicole and Eli, the fact that it was them whom Jean and Isabeau had tried to possessed first and that after the first time, Eli had taken precaution to protect both of them against possession. I liked them both. The end felt flat to me. It was okay, I didn't hate it, and I did care about the story, but it still felt flat.

Ok totally freaking loved this series and hate that it's over. Excatic that it looks like Eli and Nicole are gonna get back together. I always liked him best even when he was bad. She teaches in the Stonecoast MFA in Creative Writing Program, offered through the University of Southern Maine. She has previously taught at UCSD and has served on the Clarion Board of Directors.

She lives in San Diego, California, with her daughter Belle, their two Corgis, Panda and Tater; and their cats, David and Kittnen Snow. She and Belle are active in Girl Scouts and dog obedience training.
