I loved this book! I was surprised to find that I couldn't put it down! I laughed, I cried, I was angry, and while my heart didn't actually break, I could certainly feel the pain. The gamut of emotions in this book is incredible, and they are described so vividly and realistically that one can't help but to be drawn in.

The scenery is also described to perfection. The doldrums of a Cincinnati winter could not be more accurately written. The descriptions of California's beautiful coast made me fee

So let's just put the cards on the proverbial table. This isn't the kind of book I'd normally expect to enjoy - I tend to the cynical or the fantastical. But I read this one, and I liked it.

There's a mystery to be solved. There's a cast of unique and intriguing characters, just quirky enough to be interesting without being unbelievable. The story moves forward in a way that feels neither rushed nor sedate. You might call it "Goldilocksian", if (like me) you enjoy making words up.
