Don't open the spoiler out of curiosity if you don't want your fun in reading this manga to be ruined BADLY. Don't say I didn't warn you. :p
Well...it's not that I never expected this kind of ending at all from the start, but still...in the end I was kinda surprised too... What's more funny is that I don't find it weird or feel opposed and disappointed like what other readers feel.
Hmm, I guess because deep down in my heart I saw that coming and kinda prepared for it or maybe I'm getting used to...more

It's cute, but the background is somewhat weird and it comes across as yotsuba& without the humor.
Daikichi is a 30 year old single man whose grandfather passes away. Little did he know his grandfather fathered a love child with a woman, and six year old Rin is there. No one knows what to do with her, and rather than accept their idea to put Rin into an orphanage, he adopts her. Then it's all about a bachelor and a small girl getting to know each other as family.

I read this online just now. Each manga that I read gives me different feelings. This one made me feel....content, yet....bored. Rin was adorable. But the plot, a 30 year old man taking care of his aunt who's six because his grandfather had a lover and they had Rin seemed too strange to me.
The characters are easily real people (30 year old man who is stressed out about things of everyday life such as adjusting to taking care of a child and all the responsibilites that comes with it, his job, the...more

Daikichi is a 30 year old bachelor grinding away at life as a salaryman. When he returns home for his grandpa's funeral, he discovers that he has a six year old aunt that no one in the family knew about. Turns out the old guy was a real horn-dog.
The women in the family are mortified at this revelation; the men pretend to be mortified while high-fiving each other when the women aren't around. But the two groups have one thing in common -- neither of them want anything to do with the girl, Rin. Th...more

I came across this today in my travels & decided what the heck- it sounded pretty cute. A manga full of grins later, I'm glad that I took the time to read this volume. It has to be one of the cuter ones I've seen lately that isn't on the cutesy side.

It's a simple premise - a single man finds himself raising a child, but unlike shojo versions of this theme, this book is realistic. Our protagonist is not unbelievably handsome, or going to school, he is a working man who deals with raising a child in a realistic manner. It also begins with a mystery: when Daikichi's grandfather dies, the family discovers Rin, the little girl in question, who, it turns out, is grandfather's late-in-life child, but the mother is unknown. So without Grandfather t...more

I stumbled upon this manga somewhere across the vast online manga reading, and I love it.
The story seemed simple at the first, funny things happened with a 30 years old bachelor named Daikichi who adopted his 6 years old aunt named Rin. Besides some comedies around, Unita Yumi actually gave Daikichi and Rin's story more depth with considerations and compromises both of them had to make in order to live together.
The story itself was pretty much touching and heart warming from the go, but I rather...more

I am so in love with this new manga out of Yen Press. So sweet and endearing. In the basic story, 30-year old office worker Daikichi goes home for his grandfather's funeral and is surprised to find out (along with the other family members)that grandpa had a love child in his twilight years. Nobody knows what to do with the odd and strangely quiet 6-year old, Rin, and nobody seems to want to take her in. Daikichi is horrified by his family's lack of sensitivity toward the little girl, and he deci...more
Bunny Drop is one the most adorable manga series I've read in a long time. I'd first gotten into the series through the anime, but once I discovered there was a manga, well I had to check it out.
Bunny Drop tells the story if Daikichi, a 30-year-old bachelor, who upon arriving home for his grandfather's funeral, discovers that his grandfather left behind a 5-year-old love daughter named Rin (grandpa was 79 when he died). Rin is very introvert and shy, not speaking much and only interacts with Da...more

When Daikichi takes some time away from his desk-jockey sales job to attend his grandfather's funeral, the last thing he expects to come home with is a 6-year-old. Rin is his grandfather's daughter (mother: unknown), and the rest of Daikicki's family wants nothing to do with her. Astounded by their indifference, even cruelty, he takes her in and becomes her guardian--despite knowing nothing about women and less about children.

{I've been reading through the manga series "Bunny Drop", beginning with Bunny Drop, Volume 1. I've been through the first 2 volumes so far, and as it's a continuing story, I'm just going to treat it as a whole.}
The story centers on a Daikichi, a 30-year-old man whose grandfather has just died. At the funeral, he discovers that his grandfather, a widower, kept secrets from his family. The grandfather has been having a relationship with a younger woman (whom we never meet, or at least have not me...more

Outstanding! Heartwarming and hilarious, it tugs at your emotions and leaves you smiling. That 30-something Daikichi is willing to take in little Rin, his grandfather's illegitimate daughter is surprising in itself, but the story is so realistic. I think this one has very great potential to be a wonderful story. I'm looking forward to reading more.
Volumes 1-4 of this series are absolutely magical. Don't read past that. Just don't.

My reading of the manga is spoiled because I've already watched the anime series, but the manga is just as good. Bunny Drop is about Daikichi, a thirty year old bachelor who adopts a six-year-old girl after his grandfather dies (his grandfather is the girl's father). The story is very touching and the characters are interesting. I particularly like Daikichi as his initial feelings about children are much like my own (he doesn't really like them or understand them) and Rin, the little girl, remin...more
There's a bit of mystery to this story right off the bat. Rin doesn't know her mother, yet there is no sign of a child living at his grandfather's house. Daikichi is looking for clues as to where and who Rin's mother is, but instead of finding answers he just uncovers more questions.

Upon attending his grandfather's funeral, 30-year-old bachelor Daikichi learns that his grandfather left behind an illegitimate child. The rest of the family is embarrassed and appalled that such a thing happened, and when no one wants to take the little girl in (the mother is no where in sight), Daikichi finds himself volunteering to take on the responsibility. What follows is an endearing story about the sacrifice required and the love that comes from raising a child. The little girl is adorab...more
This first book is really captivating. The plot isn't very much used (a child let in the care of one of their relatives)which is great because it offers us an original story with beautiful drawings. Those are simple and quite realistic.
The characters are really likeable, the little girl and her new dad, their friends, the family - with the grandmother who couldn't help but care about them. They all have their problems, their stories, their backgrounds more or less hard to live with, they seem t...more

It's hard to be (a) parent(s), isn't it? to some people, it means a lot of sacrifices, while to others it just the way it is. For a thirty-something, Daikichi is totally awesome when handling six years old Rin.
I liked the cover for this one, so I figured I'd give it a try. It's definitely a different sort of story than I usually read (30-year-old Daikichi's grandfather dies, leaving behind an illigitimate 6-year-old child that nobody wants, and Daikichi decides to take on the task of raising her), but I actually ended up really enjoying it. It's interesting to see Daikichi mature as he learns to put his adopted child first and make major changes in his life in order to care well for her. I'll keep rea...more
Although both series feature cute little girls, "Bunny Drop" is quite different from "Yotsuba&" in that "Bunny Drop" is about Kawachi Daikichi's experience as a single working father rather than the experiences of his child Rin. , "Bunny Drop" is marketed as josei manga in Japan, but here in the U.S. it's marketed teen fiction, which is strange considering that most of the topics discussed in the book, like parenting and full time employment, are unfamiliar to most teens. Nevertheless, an ex...more
I ILL'd this book because people who buy Yotsuba&! buy this series as well. Because this story is told from the adult's point of view, it doesn't pass as a children's series, even if it is innocent enough. I did get a little bit of a creep vibe from it, so I wouldn't recommend it to someone who isn't already into manga and comfortable with the little cultural differences that in a Canadian publication would definitely give off a "no" feeling. The story was nice enough, but it wasn't as joyou...more
Daikichi is a thirty year old bachelor who notices a six year old girl he doesn't recognize when he attends his grandfather's funeral. He finds out that she is the illegitimate daughter of his grandfather (and thus technically his aunt), and as much a surprise to the rest of the family as to him. Despite having just lost her father Rin is treated as an inconvenience and when the family sits down to "discuss" her future, clearly already having made up their mind to ship her off to wherever will t...more

Original.
