A long time back, I heard Larry Osborne speak at his church (North Coast Church in Vista, CA) and it was, well, decent. Nothing spectacular - not one of those sermons that you furiously scribble notes on the back of the bulletin in order to reuse someday. So I didn't expect much from "Spirituality for the Rest of Us" - oh, it had been recommended to me (why I picked it up) but I wasn't prepared for my response.

I've been reading some really great books lately. This was no exception. Many times Christians get discouraged by the cookie-cutter approach to living the Christian life. A one-size-fits-all mentality does seem to pervade churches and the idea for how to best grow in the Christian walk. But how we are doing spiritually has to do with growing our relationship with God. This book offers thought-provoking insight into spirituality and Christianity. I read this with a study group and the discussions this book brought forth were astounding! It is literally in invitation to see past the dogma of most religions and explore deeper spiritual and life questions. Although it focuses on Christianity the lessons are applicable across the board. It speaks to the human spirit.
