After much badgering and pressure of the good kind, yes you Dee! I was happily immersed in the lives of Alec and Jordan and what a journey it was drama, rage, despair but most of all there was a glimmer of hope that kept me going. Sweet darling Alec a tormented soul he was like a kicked puppy starved of affection, my heart broke for him. I was so damn happy when Jordan arrived on the scene because we get this slow beautiful change in Alec it's a joy to see. Jordan brings about so many wonderful...more
This book has been added to my all time top 10 favorites list. When I read Lori's review (the other Lori) where she said she shied away from this book because she heard it was light on the sex, I was afraid I'd be disappointed too. Not a "turgid shaft" in sight and I didn't miss it at all. I do love a good deflowering scene but I was okay with not being a fly on the wall for this one. When a book makes me tear up that's a sure sign I've totally bonded with the characters and I teared up quite a...more
Well, I really enjoyed this story, well thought out, imaginative and romantic

Gothic rock superstar Tyler Curtis is something of a musical prodigy

I loved this novel, despite the insta-love trope, the annoying female character and the sometimes childish behavior of Alec/Curtis. It is story of survival, of living through emotional and psychological abuse, of living daily with a disorder capable of reducing you to the most basic level of humanity with little or no warning, and finally seeing that despite all of your flaws, you are worthy of the gift of love.

When I read the blurb of this book I had to buy it: young devilish rock star in love? shy computer geek who is mesmerized by the lure of the show business? hot sex from night one? yes, it seemed another of that "show business" novel I like so much, full of scandal and spoiled naughty young artist in love... and I was wrong! No, not since I didn't like it, I'm up at 2 at night since I can't give up the book till I reached the last page... I was wrong since this is not a glittering love story for...more
There is one major problem that I have with Zathyn Priest's books. Once I start reading them, I get sucked in and I don't want to stop reading, even for a little while. I have yet to read anything by this author that I didn't love. I will admit to putting off on reading this book for awhile because I'm not a big fan of the "rock star" type books. I've read a few that I have enjoyed but most pretty much fall flat............ it's all about groupies, sex, drugs, etc. So NOT the case with this book...more

I hold my hands up and admit I'm an emotional reader. I laugh and giggle out loud when a book's funny and I blubber like a baby when a story is sad or bittersweet. I always fall for my MC's, always get lost in their stories and generally " boo hiss " with a vengeance at the baddies! I did all the latter in this compelling book but my god did I do some serious boo hissing at a few of the characters - You know who you are ...but Ahh... Revenge is sweet - and for one butt clenchingly painfull !! No...more

When I first started this book I expected a slow blossoming romance between a gay boy next door and a suave rock star. Instead I got an insta-lovestory between a gay boy next door and one of the girliest characters I have ever come across in m/m romance. No, make that: any romance. Because Tyler Curtis was so sweet and innocent and naive... he makes Mary Sue look jaded! Seriously: it was really hard for me to picture him as a grown man who could pull off a cool rock star routine in stead of a 12...more

I have to admit I didnt like this at all.. And I'm kinda wondering how this can be number 1 on the "gay tear jerker" list? I'm pretty known for crying over every freaking book, but this one? Not even a single teary eyed moment...
It was just all a bit.. Too much? Or something like that.
I found the story too unbelievable.. I mean. Jordan and Alec? What? At first I felt that he was almost taking advantage of the poor virgin boy.. You tell him you love him after a day? Seriously? You ask him to mar...more
This is a very sweet book. It is, however, very black and white - the main protagonists are very good, the antagonist, very bad.
I felt it was quite Young Adult, there was one sex scene that pushed it past the YA category, but otherwise it really could have been/maybe should have been a YA book. I felt at times like the book wasn't sure/clear where it fit.

Oh my Fuck, This book..... This book is..... is.... its just stunning.
Some people might be put of this book by the blurb. It does not sell this one as well as it should. But I can promise you with my hand on my heart, this book is beautiful. Its a romance yes, but its also so much more. Not only is it a romance but its a story of hardship and medical issues as well as abuse of power. I have a hard time saying how good this book was but I promise to try.

Again, I seem to be totally behind the times in reading this, so I'm getting on it. :)
3.75*
I liked a lot of this book, I liked Alec finally breaking free and becoming who he really is, I like that the bad guys and gals got their just desserts, I liked that Bec went from 'omg can I just stab her with a spoon' to actually pretty cool, I liked the fairy tale aspects of Prince Charmimg coming to the rescue of the damsel or in this case rocker in distress, I liked the cat. Loved it! Jordan and Tyler were wonderful, their love story was filled with so much humor, drama and emotion that I found myself laughing out loud at one moment and crying my eyes out at others. I have to admit that I'm not crazy for 'insta-love' books, but in his book Jordan and Tyler spent so much time talking and getting to know each other that in the end it did not matter to me.

The journey to read this book is long and boring to anyone who wasn't there, but let;s just say I'm glad to have gotten there. This is the book that originally called my attention to Zathyn Priest but ended up being the 4th book by him I've read. I really liked it. I was immediately sucked into this world, and for anyone that's ever seen a picture of Zathyn Priest, I had a hard time not picturing him as Tyler Curtis.

This book absolutely captivated me. I went from giggling and thinking how sweet and cute this or that was when Jordan and Alec were together to being angry with how Alec had to grow up and sad when reading about what he had to endure with the seizures on top of everything else. It takes an awful lot for me to get emotional over a book, but this one accomplished it.

Tyler Curtis, sigh. Gorgeous, silky voiced and the consummate showman. He is lewd, foul and prone to destroying things, and he’s getting worse by the minute. Jordan, the cynical web designer, can’t stand anything about Tyler. Too bad for him that sister Bec adores him (and yes, at 25 she is stuck in a teenage crush with sexual wishes). Even worse, Bec has now won tickets to the concert and a meet-n-greet, which she demands Jordan attend, mainly so there will be...more

Tyler Curtis (Alec) is a huge rock star, but the man behind the icon is far from the image that is portrayed. A chance meeting in a hotel brings him the love of his life, but he is entangled in a web created by his heavy handed manager and Alec doesn’t know which way to turn. Jordan would rather rip his tongue out than talk to Tyler Curtis, but a chance meeting shows him the man behind the image. Now Jordan wa...more

Twenty-eight year old Jordan Braxton lives a quiet life, sharing a house with his sister Rebecca and fat orange cat Furball. He is relatively content, though he yearns to find that one person to complete his heart. Jordan has some very specific ideas of what his partner will be like and has yet to meet the person who meets all the requirements.
The one thing he does know is that Tyler Curtis is the exact opposite of what he is looking for. Curtis is a twenty year old Australian bad boy goth rock...more

I've read this twice now and I love it. Alec makes the book. His character is written very well with such personality its almost tangible. I really really liked that he and Jordan met and just clicked. Their was no drama or angst between them. Rather, it was the two of them against the world. I just really loved how they were rock solid throughout the book. I did have a bit of trouble connecting with Jordan. As much as I loved their relationship and Alec, I thought Jordan's characterization need...more
I'm really shocked this book has been rated so high. I gave it two stars because it improved midway through, but this was nearly a book I didn't finish. The fact that so many thought so highly kept me going to try to figure out what was so great.
I really liked the premise, but the execution fell flat for me. I expected the Tyler badass persona to be the result of a closeted, conflicted, lonely Alec. Instead, we get a saccharine-sweet virgin twink who, at the order of his manager, is able to act...more

The setting was interesting: a computer geek falling for a rock star. However the blurb is really misleading: the expectations about the plot and characters I have formed after reading it were completely wrong. Surprise element was welcomed, but the further the action went the more unbelievable the plot became and the characters more unreal.

A few a weeks ago I read a short story that ZP has available for free on his web site. I was not impressed. I think it was because:
A. I don't like short stories - they're just not long enough to be satisfying. I only like the "interlude" ones that Loose Id will do sometimes with popular writers, that just give you a little glimpse into the world of a couple you've already read about in a previous full length.

I am incredibly glad that I read The Slayer's Apprentice before I read this one. If I hadn't, I may have written Priest off too soon, and that would have been a tragedy. This book made me realize I need to give authors a few more chances to hit their stride and/or find their voice. (I've been knocked down quite a few pegs by books lately. Awesome.)

To quote Alec “There’s so many things

This book took me on a roller coaster of emotions. As well as satisfying my craving for a rock star story, it also delivered on the romance, intrigue, drama, comedy and heartbreak.

The Curtis Reincarnation by Zathyn Priest was almost a blind buy for me. I had read a brief interview about the author, and thought I would give it a shot. I am very glad I did! Not only was The Curtis Reincarnation a fast paced, sweet and loving romance, I really felt a connection between all of the characters. They were interesting and well developed, they all (including the secondary characters) were someone I would be proud to be friends with.

Zathyn Priest is an Australian writer with severe vampiric tendencies. Absolutely convinced the sun could turn him to a pile of ash, Zathyn prefers to write under the cover of darkness. This serves two purposes, with the first being the afore mentioned sunlight danger, and the second being the fact that nighttime means no annoying phones ringing or people knocking at the door.

and bedding the delectable Mr. Curtis, and figures that any female companion would just be unwelcome competition, so takes her brother Jordan along with her, even though he can't stand Tyler Curtis. At the concert wrap party, he sees a Tyler Curtis that is completely unlike his rock god persona. The man he meets is shy, sweet, and friendly, and although he has always had a reputation of being cold and somewhat stand-offish with strangers, Jordan is bewitched by the younger man. It takes only a little conversation, a shared pizza, and a kissing session for him to fall completely in love

In addition, Alec suffers from epilepsy which has steadily been getting worse, and as Jordan begins to help Alec find his way out of this nasty situation, the world comes crashing down around them in a different way, threatening not only Alec's career but also his life.
! And of course, it just goes to show that you should never judge a book (or person) by it's cover!!
