Born of Ice was another great addition to The League series. The story is set nearly 20 years after the previous book Born of Fire which was disappointing as I wanted to hear the story of Darling, Dancer and the other first gen team. However, the first gen characters are still featured throughout this book. Also, we are introduced to a cast of memorable characters who are sure to be great heroes / heroines in future releases.

I loved and I mean loved the first two books in the League series. Born of Ice was no exception. I really enjoyed this one and boy did I fly through it. It is tiny compared to the other books. So small that I flew through it in one afternoon.
This story centres around Alix and Devyn. I liked them both, but I'm sorry as a couple I liked Syn and Shahara so much more. They were just way more likeable and sweet together. But enough of them. Let's get back to you. (view spoiler)...more

Born of Ice tells the story of Devyn Kell former League soldier and civilian Alix Garran. Devyn is always one step ahead of The League. While Alix, is sent to bring him in alive in order to save her family. With the past and their enemies catching up to them, they'll have to stick together if they want to survive.
This is the third installment in The League series. On first seeing and hearing Devyn, Alix is mesmerized by him. She is at a total loss for words at his yumminess. Devyn is...more

All right. I’ve read all three of The League books currently available and I have to say they gradually get better so I have a lot of hope that the next book (due in January) will be even better, here’s hoping.
Let’s do a little bit of background. Nykyrian and Kiara (Born of Night) got married and had Adron, Taryn, Jayce, Zarina and one other boy. Syn and Shahara (Born of Fire) got married and had Devyn, but Syn also claims Padon from his previous marriage. Are you confused because in t...more

I’d give 2 stars only, and even this rating seemed high. However, since I was able to finish it, I thought it probably deserved a 2.
This book is instalment #3 in the League series, taking place (my guess) 30 or so years after the events of book #2 (which portrayed Syn and Shahara). In this book, Devyn, the son of the legendary Sentella member and expert hacker Syn, took centre stage. Devyn had it all – not only was he the son of Syn and Shahara, he was well-trained in almost every...more

Gah, I love this series so much! Kenyon turned it in a completely new direction here by moving the story forward 20 years and focusing on the original crew's children. It was so much fun to see all of Nykyrian and Kiara's children grown up, and Syn and Shahara's son Devyn is the hero of this novel. It doesn't stop there, though, because we also see the children of other crew members, as well as Nero again. This move has given us a host of new characters that we all want to see with a HEA, an...more
This one was by far the most confusing. It was also the shortest. Dev kept bringing up things about characters that we saw before, and knew that they were important in his life, like his uncle. It is unsure to me what happened to him. There was some guy that was apparently a lord or something that had the same name, and I know that this is him, but there was so much mystery and "oh, no. We don't talk about what happened to him," around this character that it really needed to be explain...more
This is an entertaining story; however, it lacks the dramatic flair of the previous two books of the series. Specifically . . .
The chemistry between Devyn and Alix fell flat. I get the instant attraction -- by all accounts Devyn is a nummy treat and who wouldn't want him. But the transition from lust to love is largely absent from the story. In fact, the whole romance element seems to take a backseat to the good vs. bad guys conflict. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, unless you pick...more

I would have given this one one star, but I didn't not like it. I just didn't really care for it. I don't know. Maybe it wasn't one of my best decisions to start a book in the middle of a series. Actually, I am not sure how many books are in this series. I don't plan on finding out, nor will I read any more of them.
Like I said, it's not that I didn't like it. It just wasn't my cup of tea. Maybe if I had read the previous books, I would have understood (knew the characters) and liked it...more

Born of Ice by Sherrilyn Kenyon takes us to the Ichidian Universe where we meet Alix Garran. Born a slave and used by her fathers men as entertainment she is suddenly thrust into center stage when her father dies and she along with her little sister and mother become slaves of the state. To save her family she is forced into service with her goal to infiltrate the life of Devyn Kell, either find or fabricate proof of miss deeds or her family will be sold and even worse her younger sister raped.

OK-I'm back to loving the series. [I had some trouble with the heroine in book 2 - but she's the hero's mom in this one and has improved with age.:]
Devyn is the son of Sin and Shahara from Born of Fire and like his father is doctor and a world saver. The most inexplicable point for me was here - why was he working for the League at the start of the book? Didn't Mom, Dad, and Uncle Nykarian make clear to him that protecting the innocent is WAY down on the League's To-Do list? Of...more

Another OK book, more emotionally charged than the others, same theme though. When it comes to SK's love stories, it only takes minutes for the attraction to grow, days to yearn for the other, and less than a month before they end up together. She builds the sexual tension so expertly you'll feel like the characters are about to combust at any given situation, whether it's life or death.

Born of Ice by Sherrilyn Kenyon was a thrilling and engaging read although I missed the second book in the series. Once I made the connections with the characters and how they related to each other the book took on a fascination like no other. Ms Kenyon makes the reader admire and enjoy the strong women in the book Born of Ice. Ms Kenyon develops her characters personalities in such a delightful way and you feel as though you know the characters personally. I was touched by the tenderness betwee...more

In the third book of the League series, Devyn Kell is serving as a doctor in the League military. However, its corrupt and heartless practices compels Devyn to turn against his unit in order to save a young village boy's life. Now he's a runner and shuttles medicines and supplies to areas in need, often against League practices. He's very good at it—it's in his blood. As the son of Shahara and Syn, with Nykerian Quiakides as godfather, he knows all the tricks and tools of the trade. But an old e...more

I am still reading this but have to say it is a little disappointing that we are now 20 years in the future with the next generation in the Sentella's children. there were alot of characters in the first two books that were so interesting and they need their stories told before you get to the next generation. I mean there are grown adult children in this book of couples you never read about getting together. Why not write this later after telling Hauk's story or Jane's story, or Callien's sto...more
This is a book that I finished really fast, in half of a day. The story takes form really easily and do not let the reader to feel there is repetitive stuff on it. Devyn, the heroe as was expected is really sexy, smart and bad ass and in this case he is not a character with a really dark past, which I really liked, because we knew a man loyal to his family and easily open to give his life for those he loves.

This was a fun book, but definitely had a different feel from the other two. When I first started to read I was confused because it didn't seem like there were any characters in common and these were just random new people. But once I realized that the series was on to the next generation it got very interesting, especially as all the old people started to pop in along with the kids and you saw how the original group of friends stayed really close, their kids growing up like siblings to each o...more

I've decided I'm not as keen on The League series as I am on Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters. While the first installment, Born of Night blew me away, sadly I can't say the same for Born of Fire or Born of Ice.
Alix and Devyn's story was enjoyable enough but I didn't feel the connection between the two of them. Lust become undying love almost overnight and things wrapped up very quickly at the end - moreso than usual with SK's books.

I am not going to go into what this story is about, but I was very disappointed with this one. I loved Born on Night and Born of Fire, I could not wait to read this one but the heroine Alix was totally unsuitable for Devyn our hero. I loved the inter play between the guys in this story. The story was good but Alix let everything fall apart. She just could not compare to any on the women in the series. SK gave us good, strong, loyal women that we loved immediately in the previous books but Alix l...more
I dont think SK could write a poor book if she tried, and this series, so different from the Dark Hunters, is, however, just as intriguing and I find it very enjoyable.
The main character is Syn, who had a big part and gained my interest in Born of Night. He is a very complicated character and this book delves deep into his life and answers many of the questions about his character in BON.
Enjoy. Dont expect another Dark Hunter, but allow yourself to get to know these new...more

Even on her worst day, I can't dislike a Sherrilyn Kenyon book. Admittedly, this is my least favorite installment in the League series, but I still enjoyed it. Kenyon hit the fast-forward button, focusing this third book on the children of our core characters in Born of Night and Born of Fire. Our hero is Devyn, son of Sin and Sharhara. He is the captain of a runner-ship and a doctor, like his father. He tried working with the League, but his ethics got in the way, so now he spends most of h...more
Another good "The League" novel. Danger, sarcasm, hot men, beautiful women, love, loyalty, and honor. What more can you ask for?
I did enjoy this story - but it did not engage me as much as Born Of
Night - this did not seem so intense but nonetheless I was glad to
delve into the League once more and run with Devyn Kell who is supplying
planets with the weapons and medicine supplies they need once he has
escaped the League.
Alix Gerran is a woman on the run that becomes involved with Alex

BORN OF ICE
I am verging on 3 stars but only because I am comparing it to book 1 and 2. This was still an excellent read but my least favorite of the 3. I didn't like how quickly they slept together however given her past as a slave it made sense that she did what she did. I loved reading about everyone's children all grown up. It was action packed the entire time so it kept me flipping pages.

3.5/4 stars. Wow, there was more than a 20 year time jump between the last book and this book. While I did enjoy reading about the next generation, I wasn't quite finished with the first generation. I wanted to know what became of the rest of the members of the original Sentella that we met in book 1. Sure we can go back, but it would have been nice to get all the old stories before getting the new stories. Now I already know that they have kids and that their kids and that the kids grew up ...more
I loved this series and everything about it. This book brought the first two full circle. Syn is an amazing man and his son is just as amazing. This is about Devyn who is Shay and Syn's only son. He is now a man and a runner for his father company. He is on the lookout for a new engineer when He meets Alix who turnx his world upside down. I love this series but this is not as well told as the first two. The love of Devin and Alix was not given the time or story to evolve the way the others were. I loved the way the reader was introduced to all the characters in Born of Night. I really felt I know everyone in that book. Born of Ice had so many new characters but I didn't really get to know them and have the chance to fall in love with them. This story was half of what the first two were so no wonder there was no time to build ...more
